Confused about my relationship status, please help

Post by jbee22 » Tue Mar 08, 2022 10:00 am

Im 21 and have lived in the UK for 10 years and I’m now applying for ILR. They ask what my relationship status is and I have a boyfriend here (he is a British national) so the only option that suits me is “partner/unmarried partner”. When I choose this option it asks for proof of relationship or documents showing correspondence of address etc, and the problem is our relationship has no legal bindings or evidence, we just have pictures, and we don’t even live together.
So I assumed the unmarried partner option must be for people with serious relationships or legal contracts who live together, so I chose single.
Then I realised they might check my bank transactions and see my boyfriend sending me money etc or find out in any other way I am in a relationship. And then they could accuse me of lying on my application. What option do I use on this situation? I would happily say I have an unmarried partner but how am I expected to provide evidence for it? Then again if I say I’m single would I be accused of lying? Someone help

Does that mean I can put him down as my partner and not need to provide any proof later?

On what basis would you want to select "partner" I am not sure if a boyfriend equates partner. Is there any option of single or unmarried?
Zimba answered earlier not required.

The options are single, married/civil partner, or unmarried partner. I’m obviously not married so the middle option doesn’t apply. it’s between single or unmarried partner. It says if I consider myself in a relationship I could choose the “unmarried partner” option. And I do consider myself in one….but if you are saying it is not important to mention the “boyfriend” then I should just select Single then? Im more than happy to choose whatever option. What would u do in this situation?

You ain't married neither are you living together nor any other legal binding or recognition as you put it.
Single might be more appropriate.

ILR consent form part 2: joint owner/names?

Post by jbee22 » Fri Mar 18, 2022 5:58 pm

Hello, I am a single applicant applying for an ILR. There’s a mandatory consent form: part 1 which I sign, part 2 which a “joint name/owner” should sign, and part 3 which financial sponsor signs.

I’m confused about part 2. It says if any information is provided about anyone else in the application they should sign here (they give the example of joint bank accounts). It is very vague what they mean by “anyone else”. My mother is my financial sponsor and I have mentioned her in the application as she lives in the UK. She is not a JOINT OWNER of my application as I am only applying for myself, but as she is mentioned as my mother….does she need to sign this consent form? She has also paid for my application, so she signs the part 3 financial sponsor section is that correct?
Someone please let me know if my mother should sign part 2 or if I should leave it blank.

The part 2 if mother is supplying some documents and or involved in this application, she signs.
Part 3 Not Applicable.

Await input from MOD.
