ILR - Long Residence or Spouse?

Post by max7 » Sat Sep 27, 2025 11:22 pm

Hi,
My missus is currently on spouse visa but also living in the UK legally from 10 years now. For ILR, I'm slightly confused. Below are the options and I need to know which one to pick.

1. Spouse visa was issued in 2021 and ILR due 2026.

2. Long Residence ILR due currently (September 2025).

Please suggest which option to select for missus. Thanks in advance.

The choice is yours. Family visa (via form SET(M)) has finical requirements and the long residence (via form SET(LR)) needs 10 years of continuous lawful residence in the UK without any breaks or overstaying.

For the family route, read the income guide: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... nt__1_.pdf
For the long residence route read: Lawful and continuous residence changes to Long Residence route from 11 April 2024
