ILR- 4 months Gap while switching Employer on WP

Post by genious » Wed Apr 27, 2011 11:15 pm

Hi,

in few weeks time my 5 years period ending on work permit. i am thinking to apply for ILR.

however in the past i have changed employer. i was on wp resigned from my job and then found new employer but i started job after 4 months. after 1 months got unofficial offer from my new emplyer but have to wait before they sort out new wp and leave to remain.

i am worried where i am and what shall i do. is that 4 months period any problem?

thanks,

I was on SEGS (post study work permit) when I got my first work permit on 1st August 2007 after 4 months my employment prematurely finished in November 2007. I have my last November pay slip and p45 up to November 2007.

On 17 December 2007 I have got interview call, although they have confirmed next day unofficially that they want to hire me but they need to sort out my WP. In March I sent my passport to the agency they hired to prepare my case for leave to remain stamp (it was through soliciter). My work permit was issued on 13 of March 2008 and got Leave to remain on 18 of March 2008.

I have joined them on 20 of March 2008 and since then I am with that company.

thanks,

What was the expiry date of leave issued on basis of this WP?

it was august 2011, i had 5 years wp and leave to remain.
just to correct: i got first WP for 5 years on august 2006 not on 2007 .

Got WP from new employer on march 2007 for 1 year and then extension for 5 years on march 2008 which will expire on march 2013.

Gap in employment because you switched employers shouldn't be a problem. You had valid leave during that "employment gap" .. and that is what matters.
