Thank you all the members on this forum for the help and support during my preparation phase of SET(O) ILR – I applied on 02/02/2011 at Sheffield PEO.
Here is a summary of my experience at the Sheffield PEO
1. Arrived at 12:45 for the 13:45 appointment [1 hr earlier, was hesitant to go inside but thought will check with security – luckily they were not interested in my timing and allowed me in]
2. Passed through airport-style security (remove jackets, belts, laptops and all metal objects)
3. Went directly to counter 7 to report my arrival, someone ticked my name on a excel spreadsheet and was given a token (remember I was ahead of my time and I was feeling lucky to getting through each stage quickly. But next had to wait for 40 mins before someone calling my name)
4. My token number was called and a gentleman gave me a plastic folder and asked me to put my application form, passports (old and new) and all supporting documents including photographs inside it). After that he handed over the plastic folder to me and asked to go payment area to make the payment.
5. Please note he did not looked at the documents and made any comments (Seems like put everything and we will decide based on that) – very different from Solihull process
6. At payment counter, made the payment via visa debit card and no problem with that ( to be honest my heart rate went up when the payment authorisation was taking bit longer)
7. After payment, payment lady put the receipt inside my documents folder and took that away.
8. Now waiting game started, waited and waited after 1 hr a lady came and called my number and told me that they are looking into my application and cannot comment on the outcome at this stage. Asked me to wait.
9. Nearly after another 1.5 hr, the lady came and called me to the counter and told me that I am being granted ILR along with my 3 dependents
10. This was the news I was waiting for last 3-4 hours. At 16:30 I was out of the PEO all smiling and with the ILR
11. Rushed to car park and started drive back home (received a call from home office saying that I have dropped my kid passport on the floor and they have the passport with them) – drove back again and collected the passport from the Sheffield main entrance as by then security gate was closed (16:00). So please check all the documents and passports before you leave the PEO .
Settlement Route: Set (O) via Work Permit 2 years + HSMP 2 years + Tier 2 General years
Absences: 116 days during last 5 years and before that I had a 100 days gap (this was the reason I waited for 1 year to apply for my ILR)
Had three employers in last 5 years
Documents submitted
1. SET (O) Application Form
2. Passports for self + 3 dependants + 1 expired passport of my kid
3. LIUK Test certificate
4. 12 months payslips
5. 5 years P60 + 2 P45s
6. 12 months bank statements (marked where salary deposit entries made)
7. 6-8 Cohabitation documents for each year in last 2 years
8. 2 photographs x each applicant
Car Park – Q park is opposite to Sheffield PEO and ample car parking facilities
