ILR through tier 2 and tier 1 global talent promise

Post by Khcy82dyc » Wed Mar 25, 2020 8:59 am

Hi, I'm currently on my tier 2 general visa and planning to switch to the new globally talent promise visa (stage 1 completed)
The thing is I've been working on tier 2 for 3.5 years now so I could have apply for ILR 1.5 years later. I've heard if I switch to tier global talent visa I won't be able to apply for ILR next year but have to wait until another 5 years? Is it true? I couldn't find any official statement but it also doesn't make sense...thanks for your advice!

You can combine Tier1 + Tier2 and apply for ILR while being on Tier2.

So unfortunately you cannot be currently on Tier1 when applying for ILR.

You can switch to Tier 1 Exceptional Talent visa and time spent under Tier 2 counts towards your ILR.
