ILR through 10 Years or 5 Years Tier 2 General?

Post by sreekan2 » Wed Dec 03, 2014 10:20 pm

Hi All,
I hope you will help me to make a decision on this, as I no where near making a decision on this

1) I came to UK on Sep-07, based on this by Sep-2017 my 10 years will be finished

2) I got T2 General on Mar-2013, based on this my 5 years will be finished on March-2018

Can any one please help to choose which way is better to apply for ILR? and pros and cons...

If you have dependants, then it may be better for them if you apply for SET(O) under Tier 2.

Else, dependants should switch under Appendix FM-SE, unless they qualify under Long residence as well.

Hi Vinny, Thanks for your reply,
My wife joined me on Nov-13, and a baby is adding Mar-15. so you reckon it is better to wait until my 5 years on T2 General finishes?

Thanks

There may be less complications for your wife, if you wait.

If she switches to FLR(M) under Appendix FM-SE, then her qualifying period for SET(M) will be reset.
