ILR on your own or lawyer/solicitor

Post by devmanda1ia » Fri Mar 11, 2011 6:33 pm

Hi all,

There are mix messages I have heard so far from different people on whether it is safe to apply for ILR on your own or go through a lawyer/solicitor or immigration agent.

Is it advisable and beneficial to go through a lawyer/solicitor for ILR application?

Any experiences / thoughts.

Regards,

Depends if you know your stuff very well and your case is very straight foward, if you got douts then get a lawyer or solicitor, dont get them cheap no win no fee ones. Get a proper experienced one.

I agree. If you use an Immigration Advisor, make sure they are OISC registered.

You don't need a solicitor, you can do it on your own, just follow the guidance notes and provide all the evidence. Don't waste your money!!

For those who have a complicated situation, legal advice can often make the difference between success and failure. Don't dismiss legal assistance outright, as not everyone has a straightforward application. You only need to read through the numerous posts to see how many members are unable to understand the application process and therefore benefit from professional help, if only for peace of mind.

Does anyone recommend or know a good solicitor/Immigration lawyer specialised for ILR and how much do they charge.
Thanks in advance.

I recommed Victoria Sharkey of medivisas. She is OISC registered Level 3 advisor and is very exeperienced. Google search Medivisas and you will get her details on her website.
Please note that what i post is only a personal opinion. Im no expert lol.
