Wooohoooooooo. Good news. Wife picked up her visa today.

Applied for EEA Family Permit - 27th Feb 09
Status when checked on 4th March - Forwarded to Islamabad OC (I think this changes on the day you apply or the day after)
Visa collected (Gerry's called my wife) - 20th Mar 09

So it took 21 days (3 weeks, 15 working days) as I suspected. hhsmp, we are getting good at this predicting business haha.

Thank you everyone for your support and I wish everyone the best of luck.

Congratulations amjad but Monday is 23rd March so a public holiday in Pakistan. I would say go on 24th March.

I'll keep an eye on this forum and help where I can and obviously I can learn loads from here too. Khuda Hafiz.

Congrats Kashif on ur wife's visa!

My wife applied for Tier 1 dependant visa on 20th Feb at the Lahore VAC. Ever since the status on the ukvacpk.com status check is 'forwarded to islamabad oc on'

Keeping our fingers crossed here... from what I see, islamabad VAC is relatively quicker as compared to lahore or karachi vac.

I haven't called gerry's or isl/abu dhabi bhc so far. do u think that'd be useful?

Regards
Hasan

@jafary

Brother, i have all the reasons to disagree with you.

As from Lahore VAC my dates are as under:

Applied: 04th March 2009.
Stamped: 12th March 2009.
Collected: 19th March 2009.

And a good news for you is that, i had the same status on the first day at ukvacpk.. as your wife has :).

So as far as my experience is its a good sign :).
Best of Luck mate.

@ballu

many thanks for your reply.

Ok will ask them to go down 2moro. But why the heck did gerry tell them it has not arrived!?! Also it costs about 1500 to 2000 rupees taxi fare to get to gerrys, it would be shame if they were asked to come back another day.

Would you have email for emabssy to enquire about status just to be certain.
I would appreciate if somebody has email address.

Hi Guys

Something to give you useful info.

I submitted my spouse visa application on 13.11.08

Application status changed to 'Application forwarded to Islamabad OC...' on 03.02.09

It changed to application is ready for collection on 31.03.09

So, overall it took about 90 working days which were very looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong ones.

Good Luck All

Hi Good people

I know some us us are struggling with finances and some can't even get a job until they get a decision with their passports from the HO. Therefore, it is EXPENSIVE calling those 0870/0845xxxxxxxxx numbers that the Home office generally provides.
Don't give up, now you can call Home Office for free, just check out www.saynoto0870.com and you will be provided with a local 0208/0151/0161xxxxxx number where you can contact HO for FREE! The actual number is 01516725626. (But log on to www.saynoto0870.com and confirm for yourself)
Especially if you have a pay monthly home or mobile telephone contract. You can still call from a pay as you go mobile but the charge rate will be like you are calling your neighbour next door on any 0208xxxxxxxx number.
Good luck Razz (Please share with others if it works for you!)

Is islamabad slower then the rest.

did anyone else...

Post by KazBirmingham » Mon May 11, 2009 7:13 am

salaam guys

My wife made an application to come over to the UK at the Islamabad VAC on 30th April 2009 and the status on the online tracking system is "application forwarded to islamabad OC on" at the moment.

I had a call from the british high commision last week thursday 07/05/2009 calling my mobile and the lady was asking about weather or not i wanted her to join me in the uk (erm duhh, i did send the money and docs to her didnt i lol), and then she asked me a few other questions regarding my case, as in when we met, how we have kept in contact etc - documents for which have all been supplied - letters, calling cards, emails etc..

then i turned the tables and asked her the questions, whats the status, where from now etc ... she said my wife should get an email within 1 week telling her to collect her documents from gerrys .... then said do i have anything to worry about, she said no its all fine, no prblems etc etc etc ... then she said the visa was approved from their end, just paper work internally for gerrys that needs to be completed and this usually takes about 1 week.

should i take this as the visa is sorted? did anyone else get a call from them?

it was a private number that called (the high commision is in islamabad) the application is very straight forward - i sent surplus documents as in 1 years payslips, p60, 1 years bank statement, certified letter of sponsorship, certified declaration, savings details, certified letter of residence, environmental report, council tax bill ... the list goes on! i sent more stuff than what they requested!

My wife has never traveled out of pakistan before, never mind coming to the uk.

i dont think i am one to advise i mean, i am a cmplete newbie to this, i have just been totally honest with what i have said and supplied to the VAC.

I will keep you posted!

Although gerrys told my wife to come back after 3 months! the british high commision lady laughed this off, saying that this would not be the case and to keep an eye on the tracking thing!

the above!

Post by KazBirmingham » Fri May 15, 2009 3:06 pm

OK, so as the woman promised, the status has changed today to what other people have noted too - Your application is ready for collection, please return to th VAC to collect the same ...

so looks like it was worth while speaking to them.

The high commision have a visa department and do take calls regarding applications, they are way easier to get through to.

I think there is a link to thier website on gerrys that has the contact numbers. or just google british high commision islamabad.

I hope this is of some use guys!

I will let you know when my wife goes to get her passport, and let you know what has been decided.

Saj, any news on your wife's case??
