Can I obtain EEA Residence Document in this situation?

Post by ottomiller » Tue Jul 19, 2005 6:34 pm

I am German and want to move to the UK soon. I have a permanent distance job in Germany, that gives me and my non-EU wife enough money to live in the UK without help from public funds

Can Home Office consider me as an economic self-sufficiency person, so
my non-EU wife can obtain an EEA residence document, that gives her rights to stay and work in the UK?

As a German and therefore an EU/EEA citizen you have the right to live and work in the UK. Your non-EEA family member also has the same rights but in order to prove it needs an EEA Family Permit sticker in her passport.

Form VAF1 should be used and application should be made at the nearest British Embassy/Consulate in Germany.
