Some applicants are on a 10 year route so they would need to apply for an additional extension after their first extension.
Also if you apply too early, you might have a shortfall of the total 5 year period for ILR and would need to apply for an additional extension to get it up to 5 years.
Many other scenarios also.

Just do not know what additional extension is for then. Thanks!
Maybe its for those who wants to get another additional extension instead applying ILR probably due to not being able to pass the B1 English test or LIUK test.

Thanks! I understand now the difference. Do you by any chance know the answer to, Why have you been know by another name? I was in a previous marriage along time ago, do I choose the option divorce or marriage?

Was the other name your married name (in previous marriage)? If so, I believe answer is 'marriage'

Yeah. I have had three names: Maiden surname, previous marriage and current marriage. I thought possibly the previous marriage would be divorce? Thanks for help!

Hi all,
My visa in the UK started on the 05th October 2016, it expires on the 08th of April 2019. From the 5 of October to the 5th of April that is 30 months. I was planning to apply on the 1st of April to give myself a week, now I see it must be 30 months? Is applying two days before expiry not cutting it very close or is it just normal to do so? Thanks for help.

You are allowed to apply 28 days before completing the 30 months from the date of arrival. Count 30 months from the date the visa holder arrived uk instead visa issuance date.

I have lived in the UK for over 7 years and applied for this visa in the UK so I was here the whole time. So I just need to know if I have to allow 30 months to pass, must I apply on the 05th of April and that is fine due to my visa expiring on the 8th of April? Thank you

Normally they give 33 months so that people have 2/3 months extra to prepare documents for extension but in your case its exact 30 months and 3 days
You can apply within 28 days before expiry date and i will personally not apply 2 days before expiry date and will go for standard in your case so that they take at least one month to process it and next 30 months period start after current expiry date so that you dont have any shortfall at ILR stage

That makes sense, Thank you! I am planning to do standard and was getting confused why my last week of visa just disappears but I get it now, that applies to premium visa applications. I was planning to apply around the 1st of April after I get my husbands last payslip, so I assume a week before is good enough time? Thank you again

One more question as I have never used the online system before for a visa.
If I apply for my standard visa online (before visa expiry) but only get given the option to go to an appointment 3 weeks later (after visa expiry), would this matter or does HO not take that time into account? Thanks

As you know, you must complete the online application before the visa expires.
The appointment for Biometrics can be after the visa expiry date. I seem to recall you have to book Biometrics within around 6 or 12 weeks ie there’s plenty of time.
You will probably find there are paid for appointments within a week which cost £100 or if you wait further you should find a free appointment. You won’t receive any different service at the actual appointment if you pay or not.
The rights of the applicant remain the same until the visa decision is made.

Ok great! I assume a week before the expiry is fine? due to needing to wait for final payslip. Thank you for your help

Technically 1 day before expiry of visa is also okay however don’t leave it longer than a week before as there could be a technical issue, can’t upload documents etc!

Hi all,
I have a short signed letter from company saying that the payslips are true and real copies. Anyone who has done this before, Do I also need them to sign each payslip?
Thanks!

(bb) Payslips must be:
(i) formal payslips issued by the employer and showing the employer’s name; or
(ii) accompanied by a letter from the employer, on the employer’s headed paper and signed by a senior official, confirming the payslips are authentic;

Hi, Thanks for all the help!
I am now looking at the extra services for the appointment (Which I booked 2.5 weeks from now to get a free one), Should I purchase the check documents service? Have most people done this? ( I had thought they checked things as part of the appointment but apparently not)

1) I applied in the UK so my date of issue was 05-10-2016 and my current visa is valid until 08-04-2019. So when would be the best time to submit application?
Within 28 days before your visa expires.
2) Bank Statements: Do I upload every page of the statement or just the pages with the salary on?
Every page.
3) My Husband has been employed in his current job for over 6 months so I assume we only need to give 6 months statements?
Correct, 6 months.
As i am aware, 6 months or 12 months has also to do if the salary was paid the exact same level in past 6 months, if not then 12 months payslips and bank statements are required, my husbands salary was same over past 6 minths despite I submitted 12 and got approved same day.
Also remember to cover complete 6 months or 12 month bank statement, for example not 5 months and 20 days, 6 months + few days over would be good. You never know home office.
Goodluck
