From T5(Youth Mobility Scheme) -> Spouse visa

Post by kjhdot » Sat Jan 05, 2019 7:08 pm

Hi all,

currently i am having my t5 which will expire in Jan 2020, and i just got married last month (Dec 2018)

I am planning to apply for the spouse visa in March/April, and i got some questions, hope you can help me

1) i havent changed my maiden name on my passport, and not planning to, will this pose any difficulty on the application ? (I have changed my name to a married one for our joint acct, but the others stay as maiden)

2) will i have to go back to my own country/ stop working until my application got approved (https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa/after-you-apply); i am currently as FT

3) we have been living together for a year now, but then bills used to be included in the rent, so we only got contract / statement showing we paid a certain amount every month, but then we will have council tax, bill from this moment onwards, will they be enough?

Thank you very much

You are only required to submit evidence that you have been living together since your marriage.
Thank you very much

1. No issue if you don't change your name on your passport etc.

2.No.

3. No requirement to submit evidence of cohabitation when you switch to a spouse visa after marriage. Submit what you have.

Also note that you will have to pay IHS fee again and the fee is doubling on 8th January. So for a spouse visa for 2.5 years, you will have to pay £1000 plus the visa application fee if you apply on or after 8th January.

Edit : beaten by Casa
