Hello,

A dependant can stay outside of the UK as long as he/she wants to, provided he/she is not ascent from the UK for more then 2 years in 1 go.

A main applicant can enter the UK and live there for 5 years. His/her dependant can join her/him just 1 day before the main applicant applies for ILR, and the dependant should be granted ILR together with that main applicant.

That only applies for ILR.

For naturalization purposes a dependant must have not exceed 450 days outside of the UK for the 6 years preceding naturalization application.

The choice is yours.
