Hello There,

I am applying for visas for my family. My wife and daughter doesn't have a surname but the application doesn't have an option to move forward. In india normally in this scenario you add same name for both surname and given name. Is it same here
You're a naturalised Brit. This means you've lived here long enough to understand how things are done here. How where you filling your own forms before you became a Brit?

Apply the same Modus Operandi to your family application.

You'd probably want to have your wife and daughter officially change their names to include a last name, then get new passports in their new names before starting the process. Changing names mid-way through the immigration process may get unnecessarily complicated.

See this thread on how British passports are issued for mononymic people.

Simply put, they will become
First Name: XXX
Surname: their mononym.

As mentioned, it may become complicated to change that during their immigration journey. Better to change it now, before the start of their immigration journey.

Quite apart from the immigration journey, be aware that having a monomyn will negatively impact your wife and daughter in their day-to-day lives in the UK, where most organisations, such as banks and workplaces, will require a first and last name. And all of those will need to match their immigration documents (both the BRP and their passport), which may very well complicate their lives here.

Hello There. I have a surname and they don't. This has nothing to do with being British citizen

As usual thank you so much for valuable advice and It looks like when they applied for indian passports and other official docs they used their second (middle) names as surnames. My daughter carries my mom's name as her surname and wife does have a different surname. I hope this doesn't cause any issues

I respect that, it is what it is. You asked a question "Is it same here"? I've replied to your question that you should know how things operate here (UK). You have a better understanding of both cultures than anyone else.

You are of both worlds, we're not.

May be problematic when traveling abroad while your daughter is a child.

An adult and child with different surnames traveling together has been known to be interpreted as child abduction/kidnapping and may be stopped at international borders. It has even happened to an MP (Tulip Siddiq MP, niece of Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh).

Bank Statement

Post by RajaHindustani » Wed Mar 20, 2024 10:23 pm

Dear All,

I have submitted my spouse visa application last month. Just realised while going through the bank statements submitted. In the bank statements the description of the payment doesn't have company name it shows the bank name as a reference that company uses for payments. Payments are all matching the payslips and submitted the employer letter as well. Will the description in bank statement being different causes any issues

Dear All,

Any advise on this please. Shall we need to send some form of document from the employer mentioned this. I see the company name when I open the transaction details in the banking app but the listing on the bank statements doesn't have that only the bank name from where the money is transferred. For clarity the company in question does use a bank from France for salaries in uk

IHS Topup

Post by RajaHindustani » Thu Apr 25, 2024 9:47 am

Hello All,

I have submitted the spouse settlement (Appendix FM) and 2 x appendix Child applications a couple of months ago

They requested IHS topup for one of the two child dependents over a month ago but never a received topup request for other.

Now when I have done a paid enquiry, I received a response that they have already made a decision

What does this mean? No decision email or passport collection email so far. Does it mean a refusal If they don't request IHS topup

Thanks,

No it doesn't mean granted or refused, basically means decision made.
You will know the outcome when you receive decision email or letter. Till then, wait.

Will your worry change anything at this point?
Exercise patience to get the outcome and hopefully all will be well.
