Child dependents of british citizen parents by descent

Post by biggiesbass » Sun Jan 12, 2020 12:22 pm

Hello

My family and I are planning to immigrate to the UK from South Africa this year.

My wife and I are both British citizens by descent through our fathers.
Our 2 children were both born in South Africa and their ages are 2 & 4. They cannot get british passports.
My wife and I have never lived in the UK for any period of time.
We have grandparents, brothers, cousins etc (All UK citizens) living in the UK who we could stay with without any issues as soon as we arrive.

What would be the best & cheapest visa choice for our children hopefully avoiding NHS surcharge etc if possible :)

Child settlement visas, current cost is £1523 each plus possible £1200ihs each.

They should be granted indefinite leave to enter though.

Thank you for the reply CR001. Does the indefinite leave to enter get granted automatically once the child settlement visa has been approved or is that a seperate application?

Don’t think there should be any IHS if applying for ILE.

ILE - sponsor undertaking form

Post by biggiesbass » Tue Jan 14, 2020 6:42 am

Hello

I am filling out the VAF4A1 form for my 2 children born in South Africa in order to get them a child settlement visa with ILE. My wife and I are both British through descent and we all live in South Africa. It states in the appendix that the sponsor undertaking form is required as well. However the sponsor form says the sponsor must be a resident in UK which I am not as we all live in South Africa. If we don't fill in the form we need to state why we didn't.

So do I just ignore the sponsor form and in the reason why block I state that I am not a resident or do I fill out the form?

Find it a little confusing.

Okay great, should I leave the reason block empty or should I say the form is not required as this is an child application of settled parents?
