Thanks Dear CR001,

"Apply from outside the UK
You’ll need to prepare information and documents to provide with your application.

Apply separately
Which form you need to fill in depends on whether your parent has leave to enter or remain in the UK on a 5 or 10-year route to settlement as the partner of:

a British or Irish citizen
a person with indefinite leave to remain
a person settled in the UK - for example, they have indefinite leave to remain, settled status or proof of permanent residence
a person from the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein who has pre-settled status - they must have started living in the UK before 1 January 2021
a person with a Turkish Businessperson visa or Turkish Worker visa
a person with refugee status or humanitarian protection
If they do, you must fill in the Appendix FM online form.

If they do not, you must fill in both:

the online application form
the Appendix 1 paper form"

The above section in the form , mentions "partner of" and not parent/child that's where it is ambiguous

hey dsa007 and moris,
I'm also in the same boat. If you have filed can you clarify the following: I've one confusion I posted here

immigration-for-family-members/child-bo ... l#p2020305

If you have are in the final stages of filling the form. There is a section where it says "Additional information need to provide". Here, we are asked to confirm the correct forms to be downloaded like vaf4a forms. There are some options but the confusing ones are below, I've attached the snapshot.
image_2021-08-08_084834.png

I had permission to come to UK before 2012, so, I would choose the option 1 that is "granted to be here before 2012". I understand that the vaf4a Appendix 1 is the correct form to download. Though both of us got ILR in Oct 2012

The confusion I've is, as I understand, we don't need to provide financial support if we are applying for ILE to child. So, does it mean that people who are granted permission after 9 July 2012 needs to download vaf4fa Appendix 2 form? But options in the Appendix 2 is for parents who are given "limited leave". Not for parent who have ILR.

could you please, let me know. we can connect if you have some confusion. I posted documents needed in that thread too.

Application form I find is bit confusing.

While filling the application form, I've entered my child name, contact number. These first 3 sections are fine, immediately after those sections, now asking for corresponding address, I've given the address where I'm making an application from, It is all good. But in the next section, it asks the details like "how long you have lived at this address"? and what is the ownership status of your property?

I'm filling this application for children under 18 and the ownership should I fill "I own it" :D given that child is only 6months old, what should be the right answer?

Some of the questions are not worded properly and some will outrightly appear not applicable under certain circumstances. Your response is OK and should be easily understood by ECO.

Thanks AmazonianX . I agree it is very lazily created form. Most confusing is "Additional information need to provide". The snapshot above in one of the messages. It says,

As part of your application, you must also complete the relevant appendix and provide this as part of your supporting evidence.
  • download Appendix 1 if you are granted permission to be in the UK before 9th July 2012.

or
  • download Appendix 2 if you are granted permission to be in the UK on or after 9th July 2012.

Here it is not clear, whether to download Appendix2 or Appendix1 if you are granted permission to enter after 9th July 2012 and granted ILR.
If you download Appendix 2, then it is clear that it is only for spouse whose partner is settled or child of a parent who is on limited leave.

Hi,

need some immediate guidance, if any of you could clarify it will be great!

Ok I was filling dummy application until now and I've started the application, I've attached the snapshot below. I've circled the option that is best for me in Category 1 but if you closely look under eligibility criteria it confuses a lot.

In category 1, it says if parent is given permission before July 2012 and is either : british or settled ,
In Category 2, it says "if you are joining a parent who is either: british or settled".

I did dummy application choosing both the category and there is no difference in filling the application except the difference is in the appendix we need to fill. Could any one who has filled it know the difference?

https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa/child

Apply at the same time as your parent
Which form you need to fill in depends on whether your parent is applying to enter the UK as the partner of one of the following:

a British or Irish citizen
a person with indefinite leave to remain
a person settled in the UK - for example, they have indefinite leave to remain, settled status or proof of permanent residence
a person from the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein who has pre-settled status - they must have started living in the UK before 1 January 2021
a person with a Turkish Businessperson visa or Turkish Worker visa
a person with refugee status or humanitarian protection
If they are applying as one of these, you must fill in the Appendix FM online form.

If they are not, you must fill in both:

the online application form
the Appendix 1 paper form

Follow this link

https://visas-immigration.service.gov.u ... 1577696564

Non-British child of a parent who has permission to be in the UK as a partner or spouse of a British citizen or person settled in the UK granted permission under the Rules in place before 9 July 2012

Non-British child of a parent, parents or relative who are British citizens or settled in the UK
( This option which i think falls onto category one where it is required to submit Appendix 1)

Non-British child of a relative who has limited leave in the UK as a refugee or receiving humanitarian protection

Non-British adopted child or child for adoption in the UK of a parent or parents who are British citizens or settled in the UK.
My opinions should not be constituted as an immigration or legal advice.

Hey TODMATT,

Thanks a lot for confirming.
Yes, I've read that link and was confident that I just have to fill online form and Appendix-1. If you follow the link https://visas-immigration.service.gov.u ... 1577696564 and start filling, you will reach a page that contains my snapshot. Hence, it confused me.

Again, wordings are very vague. We both parents have ILR and got ILR together long time back, so, only child is applying. Even in this link
It is confusing whether Apply at the same time as your parent or Apply separately category applies as the child is the only applicant.

It is sort of clear now. The problem is re-reading these sections :D confuses hell lot.

Hey guys,
one more confusing. I've filled and paid the application. I'm now uploading documents to VFS website. In the website as below asking Appendix-2
vfs_confusion.jpg
vfs_confusion.jpg (149.33 KiB) Viewed 563 times
Why do VFS is asking for Appendix-2? Any idea? Should I just upload Appendix-1

My application clearly says, settlement for child for Settled parents. Rather than being clear it is more and more confusing as we progress.

Upload appendix 1. Appendix 2 doesn’t apply to you in this regard and VFS website is a default option to upload appendix 2 so ignore it but you just upload appendix 1 in your case.
