Mother's name spelled wrong in my passport

Post by phoenix3123 » Thu Apr 30, 2015 6:38 am

Hi there,
I'm planning to apply family visitor visa to my mother. Whilst filling the form I noted that the name of my mother in my passport is spelled differently

The correct spelling in my mother's passport is ' SYAMALA'
The spelling in my passport is ' SHYAMALA'

Just a 'H' extra in mine.
Will it be a problem for the visa. Should I a covering letter explaining?
Should I have it corrected?
Please advise
Thanks in advance

The UK authorities will typically not be bothered by her details in your passport. They will go by the name in your mother's passport. Stick to that throughout the forms.

A British passport does not list the parents names, nor a home address. So a British person would not expect to check your passport for your mother's details :) It's a cultural difference.

In future, when you are getting your passport renewed, it is worth getting it corrected at the High Commission.

Hi
I am in similar situation like you. My mother name is mentioned in correctly in my passport. Could you able to get visa for your mother? Can you tell me what you did?

Thanks and Regards
