mattp - That's quite cheeky of them not to tell you anything until it's been exactly 6 months. Before my fiancee visa, I was on a 2 year Youth Mobility Visa (previously called a working holiday visa). So I had already been employed in the UK full-time, had a NI no., bank account, and a considerable amount of sterling saved. Perhaps this, more than my nationality, played a large part in the processing time? It's hard to know. All the best to you and your wife. I hope you will enjoy your freedom together very soon!

I didn't receive it until today. But just yesterday I received the Biometrics booking letter. How confusing is that?! It seems that it got lost somewhere and because of it, i couldn't work for a month! Unbelievable... And when you call them to ask something, they are useless! Good luck for you, hope you receive it soon because for me it took over 4 weeks to arrive. So don't start worrying now, wait a few weeks.

Still waiting

Post by mattp » Wed Feb 22, 2012 7:21 pm

Still no news after 7 months.

UKBA won't give any information over the telephone and have not replied to my letter asking why the application is delayed. Why bother providing a phone number and a postal address if neither produces any response?

Date Applied/Docs sent: 25/07/11
Date Received Ack. Letter: 02/08/11
Date payment taken from bank: 01/08/11
Date Biometrics completed: 10/08/2011

Date issued: --/--/--
Date Passport/Docs received from HO: --/--/--

Visa Type : FLR(M) for spouse

I completly agree, mattp. They are useless on the phone or on whichever way of contact. And it's not like it's a free service, we are paying for it. I think they should remember that a response is the minimum that we deserve. Good luck for all of us!

Interim updates: Given that my acknowledgment letter was sent to the wrong address by UKBA. I'm concerned I may never receive Biometrics booking letter. I have written to the UKBA North East Yorkshire and Humber Office where I believe the application is being processed about this. I will update the forum about outcome if they do respond!!?

8/03/2012 -Its over four weeks now since I submitted my application, and three weeks since I sent letter to the UKBA alerting of my acknowledgement letter being sent to the wrong address. I received no response to my letter and still waiting for Biometric booking letter. How incompetent?

With the litany of mistakes posted on this site daily, any other organisation operating in this way in the UK would have had their operations in curtailed or in serious jeopardy by now. The fact is no one really gives a #### if it’s about hapless migrants!

Insanity regarding waiting times

Post by Steveodogbiscuit » Tue Feb 28, 2012 8:46 pm

Hello, I cannot contain my frustration at the UKBA, we have written to our local MP twice regarding the time we have had to wait since March last year initially but once the UKBA had sorted the problem with their payment system the secondary and 'valid' application was made 16/08/11 so we have been waiting for over 6 months but in total my wife has been without her passport for the best part of a year.

I cannot believe they could honestly take this long and the problem is my wife hasn't been able to visit her family in Japan and god forbid if anyone would become ill she would never be able to see them, we also have a baby boy and her family are yet to meet him in the flesh and he is four months old!!

The UKBA are a wretched organisation and they withhold information and the telephone staff are a joke, the whole organisation is a badly run circus with a bunch of inept clowns. I really don't know where to turn to now but this is unacceptable surely!?

FLR (M) APPLICATION

Post by hemlock » Wed Feb 29, 2012 11:46 am

DOCUMENTS SENT ON: 15/12/2011
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT LETTER RECEIVED: 19/12/2011
BIOMETRICS BOOKING LETTER ARRIVED: 28/01/2012
BIOMETRICS ENROLLED AT LIVERPOOL CENTRE: 31/01/2011
PASSPORT/DOCS RECEIVED: WAITING
RESULT/VISA STAMPED: WAITING
BIOMETRIC CARD: WAITING

VISA TYPE: FLR(M) SPOUSE VISA
FROM: STUDENT

Its extremely frustrating! how long do we have to wait? I haven't been home for three years! I got married last August and my husband flew to Afghanistan to do a 6months tour just after 2 weeks of our wedding. We are hoping to visit home (Philippines) as my mum's vision deteriorated just recently. She has been very distressed and neither of us couldn't get any decent sleep thinking when we will be able to see each other again! Plus I need to sort out another visa to go Germany as my husband is posted in there and I am going to join him after his tour. But I couldn't do anything because all of our documents are with the UKBA! We cannot move forward because of this. I couldn't even get a job!! I consider my application as very straightforward.. some applicants take 6-8 months, some in just a month! I wonder what it takes to process an application! Cause they can do a same-day service!!!!

Well, It's clear that what they do (or do not do?!) is completely unacceptable. They disturb our lives in a way that's unbelievable. I really pray and hope that all of us get our things sorted very soon, so we can get on with our lives.
