It will probably be a lot quicker, though expensive, if he reapplied.

It's almost two months since your appeal and no news yet.

But if he can wait, then appealing is the way forward, cost wise.
Not necessarily, appeal and cases taking the same amount of time their still on April applicants and all April appeal applicants have received appeal notices, it just depends on situation if its minor appeal, as re applying can result in being refused for another reason as well as costs and getting all documents attested/in date
Yes if the documents aren't right, very possible the application will get refused again.

By 2/3 months you get your passport back, whatever the outcome of the application. But with appeals, it seems to take several months before you get the passport back. But Yes, addressing the points in the appeal rather than reapplying will suit many people rather than starting from scratch.

In the past people have been refused visa second time if they sent the same test certificate (which they sent for the first application) due to the examining body no longer being approved by the Home Office, despite the certificate being valid at the time of issue. They state that it is down to the applicant to ensure that they check when submitting a new application, however with City & Guilds it is supposed to be valid until November, but I would double check with them and just clarify if you are likely to make a new application before November, but if you are likely to apply in November then it may be better to get a new certificate from IELTS.

Depending on the reason for the refusal you may be able to submit additional information and get the decision changed.

If it is just about a date and that is the only thing surely you can go for admin review? And get your employer to rectify this "mistake"

Ok seen it, thanks. What I don't understand is why didn't your solicitor pick up on this and do maths to workout if you're earning enough or not. No professional immigration specialist would or should make this error. Have you spoken to your solicitor regarding this? What has she suggested?

You'll have a better chance of getting your wife the visa if you do all the research yourself.
