SET M - Waiting times

Post by fpoptani » Wed Jul 22, 2009 10:58 pm

I am a Brit and applied for ILR on SET M on the 21 June 2009. Does any one know what are the actual waiting times? Any body applied on SET M and heard or not heard from Home office. I believe my papers were in order and we have to kids who also are Brits. The only problem is we spent quite some time abroad mostly together but sometimes on our own. Any responses much appreciated.

Yes it is but there is a reason for this, it the people who abused the system make it harder for us with genuine cases .:x

That is an unfounded excuse. I think it is plain incompetence.

Deliberate act, of punishing people, or to look tough.

It is also aimed at encouraging people to go for the fast track system, which takes a day to be processed and more costlier.

Funny how abused of the system is not used as an excuse for that one.

Any news yet?

My husband applied by post for ILR on Form SET(M) in February this year and they processed his application and granted him ILR within five weeks - we were expecting to wait around 3 months which is why we did not plan any holidays in the time after he submitted his application.

His application was very straightforward - we both work full-time, no reliance by either of us in public funds/benefits, no kids or previous marriages and he did not spend any lengthy periods of time outside the UK during his 2 year spouse visa, just had a few 1 and 2 week holidays.

Good luck to all of those waiting!

I'm waiting, too.

Application sent: June 22
Confirmation Letter: June 24
Cheque cleared: June 26

I am trying not to panic as from the research I've done it seems three months is the average waiting time.
Just got word this weekend though that our landlord has sold our house and we have to be out by the end of September, hoping to get the visa back by then!

Well they do need the originals so you do not have problems with that. If you send them by special delivery they should receive them next day but how long the case will take it's hard to say as it's in their hands the fact that they are dealing with your case as you've received that letter means that i't is not going to sit in any of their draws but will be dealt with. Good sign I would say.

Good luck and please as you keep us updated!

I have found the average waiting time to be around 3 months or so, because of the large numbers of application they have recieved lately.

I must remind you that they do make some extensive inquiries on each application. Sometime its not the HO office fault for the delay, its other departments, agencies and local authorities who are sometime slow to respond after an inquiry is made with them.

Waiting Times

Post by spoiltbratt » Fri Aug 28, 2009 2:02 pm

Hi

I applied for ILR Set (M) on 20th June 2009, received the acknowledgement letter & payment was deducted on 23rd June 2009. It's been 10 weeks todate.

Today i called the Home Office to check the progress on my application the guy on the fone said I have to wait 14 weeks before I can call them.

It's not just with ILR every other categories waiting times have exceeded so have patience guys .... Best Of Luck .

Before June

Post by spoiltbratt » Fri Aug 28, 2009 2:06 pm

Hi

Mostly people I know who applied before June got there ILR within 6 weeks. I have enquired with few different solicitors they are saying at present it's taking 12-14 weeks.
