Please note that I had probably submitted more than what was needed. But I have not heard of any rejections due to too much information . So with this concept of local employees doing the screening I would suggest that you give every single document you have.!!!!!

I did not get anything notarised . I did submit a copy of my photo page of my British passport along with the SU07 form.

I had not submitted other pages of my passport but my e tickets to India probably covered for that . ( I used to go to India every 4-6 weeks ) and I had submitted them

I still dont understand the need of getting the documents attested by an Indian or UK notary. Its better to submit all original docs as u can get them back.

Hello everyone,

My wife finally got her settlement dependant visa today 23 rd Jan - 70 working days.

The chennai BHC called her on 60th working day - 7th Jan asking her that they wanted to see my latest employment letter which I sent very urgently directly to the BHC through FedEx. They also emailed my wife that they received the documents on time since they gave a deadline of 7 working days for it to be submitted.

The employment letter should state the current Salary, the previous salaries, type of contract - Permanent and since how long previously in employment.

Thanks everyone for all the help and info provided, thanks to the moderator for this forum.

Applied on : 4th October 2012
Forwarded to BHC : 8th October 2012
Phone call from BHC : 7th Jan 2013
Visa Granted : 23rd Jan 2013

:D :D

Hey it is not mandatory to submit notarized copy, i just did it to be on the safe side ...

the covering letter just lists all the documents you are submitting, so it makes it easier for the ECO to use that as a checklist ...

I submitted all originals and one set photocopy too ...

No, you don't need sponsor's letter notarized ....

sshanmug wrote:Hi srik_1983,

Thank you very much for your list. It was really helpful. Much appreciated.

I have few more queries:

1)Can you please tell me what other docs you got notarized copies other than passports. Is it mandatory to get it notarized?
2)Did you wife got ILE visa?
3)Can you please send a template of covering letter and sponsor letter to my personal email id: senthilkumar.s.shanmugam@gmail.com
4)Can you please tell me whether you have submitted originals or photocopies or both of all the documents?
5)Do we need to get the sponsor letter notarized?

Kindly clarify. Looking forward for your response.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Senthil

@ harv - She took IELTS - General trainng exam and her scores were :

Listening - 6.50
Reading - 7.00

these enhlish scores look good.
is there any reason why you opted for IELTS and not the other easier ones ? did you have a choice?

were you able to get exam dates as quckly as possible ?
did u have to go far for the test
did you have to get much coaching?

I would suggest that you start gathering documents now. Also ask your spouse to apply for the passport. It does not matter that your name is not on her passport since you are submitting the original marriage certificate anyway.

Without passport she will not be able to take the english test nor can she take the TB test. Get all these done ASAP so that you can apply as soon as you get married.

PS: check about the validity period of the TB test in case you are not applying straight away.

Remember that you need the original certificates of the tb test and english test. TB test certificate is issued on the same day so it should not be a problem. English language certificate is an issue. My wife took IELTS and it took around 16 days to get the original certificate.

Usually you have to book for the test 3-4 weeks in advance. We did not go for the Key english test as my wife is a doctor and would have had to pass IELTS for General Medical Council UK registration anyway.

I am not an expert but that does not sound right. If you read the UKBA process, it allows for additional documents to be submitted:

Completely agree!but when I appealed in july he had advised this and was certain it will go to court. When my mp loomed into it he had said the british high commission had said no enough evedence had been provided ti chsmge the
ecision. I am now collecting all proofs entails pictures cards sent since july 2012 and have a letter from work stating my current pay and promotion
Also doctors letters with my health.suffering from severe depression. Cant think of anything else. Just want this nightmare to end been A whole 11 months since I applied

Hi all,
Been looking at this site from last 10 days... Wish I would have known tgis before I applied dependent wife application(Settlement). Great discussion and understanding and helping each other out is quite remarkable. Hope and pray to god every one gets visa and meet their loved ones sooner.

These waiting times are frustrating for couples. Wonder why ukba takes so long. Surly they don't understand what goes between couples and families..How a hard it is to live apart.

Applied wife settlement visa on 30/11/2012 at VFS Hyderabad. Emailed after 30 days and got a reply saying processing time 57 days.
Application status Still underprocessing

Thanks and hope I get good advise from you guys

All the best for all of us
