Thanks Safina and yeah thats true, It happened with my sis. She faxed them new info with a letter explaining everyting and they overturmed their decision. It only took 2/3wks. It could take upto a month. Btw if you want them to review the case you MUST get back to them in 28days! Good luck sis!

Asslam alay kum

I was wondering what the 28 day rule is all about. I have heard that if you do not come within 28 days they fine you. Is this true? If so how much?

Also where do they fine you and when does the 28 days begin from is this from the day you collect your passport or is it from the date that they have stamped on it.

SALAAAAAM GUYS,
Hope everyone is good.. and those of you who have been sucessfull many congrats and do pray for us.
I got a very important question. Well, when my wife was submitting the application she was told by Gerryz staff that she does not need to include the Original Urdu Marriage Certificate. I have been very confused why they didnâ€™t take that in as I thought that to be the most important document. However they do have our English translated version of the marriage certificate.
Can some one help with this query, what do u suggest. We submitted our case on the 14th Oct. should the original marriage certificate have been submitted, if so, what can i do now ??? PLZ HELP.

Mr Manchester - congrats mate!! hope you and the missus have a fab life together!!

Cha Cha - the 28 day rule has changed. For a settlement spouse visa, you now get a 27mth visa that allows the first 3 months for you to reach your country of destination.

Magnet - Im very surprised that they didnt take the urdu version of the nikah namah!! We submitted both. Not sure what thats about, maybe they dont need it or have changed the rules.

Naz - how are you ?? Any progress ??

wana say congrats to everyone again who got there visa.

the uk border website and gerrys is now sayn the following

"Please be aware that some visa applications made earlier this month may be subject to a delay in processing due to a system problem experienced on 9 October. All applications caught up in the backlog will soon be processed. However further delay to your visa decision may be experienced. All new applications submitted on or after 10 October are unaffected. The UK Border Agency apologises for any inconvenience caused.

If you have an urgent need to travel, or to receive your documents back and are experiencing a delay to your decision, please contact the commercial partner or post where you applied for your visa for further information."

oahmed - got an update hubbi rang the embassy on fri and they said his application has been sent to the uk for further examination....buh i dont get is when he rang them on wed they said nothing buh on friday they told him that...why didnt they say anything earliar....my hubbi feels they are making it up as they yet to make a decision regarding his app...he rings them every 2-3 days and tell him ring next week..........they have been sayn that for the last 2 weeks.......

Hi Naz - I think that the feedback you are getting is just random standard comments from the staff. Dont panic. Its still in processing and at least you know that much. Just dont pay too much attention to the differing feedback you get - I think we all know that the staff at the VAC/BHC are pretty poor in providing accurate and consistent information.

Just remain positive and await the status to change. Inshallah it will be good news when it does change

Naz, sorry to hear they still not decided on ur case. And my wife coming next week. Will def let u know what happens at the airport here but being honest v not worried at all about that, it wont be much.
Magnet we submitted both and they took it, maybe change of rules or most likely they just got it wrong.
And oahmed where you write that the 28 day rule has changed , I can tell you it hasent. Because my wife got her 27month settlement visa and another letter with that stating if she does not travel within 28day she will have to pay an extra amount(Not sure about the amount, I think about Â£160)

My wife wont be coming over until the 25th November,
that is when the visa date start's
so she's booked her tickets for the 25th.

Hi Naz - nope no news my end. Its been just over two wks now, not gonna bother emailing or calling them yet. Just monitoring the website and getting updates frmo there really. It seems things are moving along a bit at the VACs so am hoping for news soon inshallah.

Its tough, but just having to remain patient and keep praying

hi my names ali i was on this forum b4 and wifes visa was rejected on 12th sept but my wife has since applied again she applied 2 day and the guy said you wount get the visa as a copy of my passport was not ther.

is this true? if it is im really upset nw.

they do want copies of passports now..so i wud advise you to email the BHC and fax them ur Passport copies, remember to put all her details like Reference number and her name, DOB..and passport number........when did u apply the frst time round and where, what basis was it rejected if u dunt mind me askin......

Hi Ali - yep as part of the new process, photocopies are required. Im surprised you were allowed to submit them wihout the copies, I thought they were turning pple away if they didnt have them.

Why was your application originally refused??

the visa was refused 1st time as my income was not explained properly and tht the guy thought id b living on public founds the 1st time i applied was in islamabad on the 17th july got my reply on 12th sept.

this time i gave the refusal letter iswel it states tht he was happy with everything but the income but now iv given payslips and a letter tht explains my income in detail.

il have to make a copy of the passport and fax it. the guy said to my wife u must have alot of money to waste if ur applying like this lol.

how long are these applications taking now? are they more efficient?

Hi Ali, like you I resubmitted rather than appealed as it takes a lot of time with appeal. Inshallah it will be ok this time around. As for getting any quicker and efficient - they seem to be getting a bit better, but the updates and information provided is as useless as ever. Also they are now operating on a 'wait til we call you' process which is pretty poorly managed.

how long are they taking now? b4 it was an average of 8-10 weeks. looking at the forum it looks like 4-6 weeks now? is tht right?

Ours was done no 13th Oct. and it does seem around a 4/5 wk turnaround - but I wouldnt hold your breath waiting !!

well we submitted it on the 11th sept so november next week...i fink i got around 1 week to go ...shall i email them today then?> wah do u tink?
