The visa was approved on 8th September. However, it is unlikely that the Mr ***** or his wife will yet be aware of this. This is because the decisions on this kind of case are made in the UK and the paperwork now needs to find its way back to Mr *****’s wife back in Pakistan. However, you can let them know of the positive outcome and that they can expect the visa to come through shortly.

Hi Was,

Congratulations on the good news.
If i am right you applied in the first week of June. so on that basis it did take 12 weeks to process.

Baz,
My wife applied on the 12th JUNE so its been more less exactly 3 months. dont know if it would have taken longer had i not contacted my MP.

Also got to wait for staff at Gerry's to phone my wife so she can go collect the passport -
I was hoping to bring my wife back with me as im in pakistan at the moment - had to attend a funeral was very sad and depressed but this has cheered me up alot !!!
knowing Gerry's they will take at least 2-3 weeks to inform my Mrs for collection.....

Hi Was,

Did you need anything from your Mrs before you contacted your MP. As i will do that if i dont here anything by end of this month.

Did she have to give you some sort of consent to allow the MP to investigate this matter

You have to send your MP a permision form so they can forward this onto the home office to get information. If the applicant is in pakistan they will only accept copies that have been posted or faxed directly to them from Pakistan.

Permission Form

Name …………(NAME OF THE APPLICANT)

Passport Number ……………………………………………………

Home Address …………………………(ADDRESS OF THE APPLICANT)…………………………….

I have instructed my Member of Parliament, Mr (INSERT YOUR MP's NAME HERE) MP, to act on my behalf in this matter and would be grateful if you would send any correspondence or documents to the address of my MP.

I am happy for the information to be given to my husband (INSERT YOUR NAME HERE) of (INSERT YOUR ADDRESS HERE)

Congrats Was794!! I have contacted my own MP to chase up the applcaition as my wife applied on the 11th June (1day b4 urs). We had the same "Guy at UKBA" contact my MP earlier, so inshallah he'll have some good news now that my MP is chasing him again.

Any idea how long it took for him to reply back to your MP when you chased it up, after the first email about "please wait 12 weeks..."?

navbulls:

thanks a lot for very fast reply, am going to check.
One other question... is that service of MP available only for British or even for other nationalities living in UK (even not permanently)? I dont know if that can have some effect on answer but we applied for EEA family permit as am not British national.
All answers are welcome

Hi was94. Congrats on getting your approval! Its great to see things are finally moving for applicants.

Can you kindly guide me as to whom the MP will be for a British Citizen who is resident in Pakistan? I was not able to find the appropriate person on the website you gave since it seems to cover residents of the UK.

Thanks in advance.

Hi All,

My husband submitted his settlement application on 15th June 2009 at Islamabad.

No news yet but these are the responses I have received so far:

FROM: visa.abudhabi@fco.gov.uk

Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for your email. This type of application is lodged in Pakistan and processed in the UK. I have checked on the status of your application and can confirm that your application is currently being processed and a decision will be made shortly.

Please do not contact Gerry’s directly about this as they will contact you when your paperwork is ready for collection.

Please forward any future settlement enquiries to ukhub.pakistangeneralenquiries@fco.gov.uk.

Visa Correspondence Team

British Embassy, Abu Dhabi

My local MP

My office has contacted the Border Agency UK Visa Section, which has
advised that your husband's application is awaiting determination. The British High Commission receives, I am told, between 500-600 applications per week, which results in the determination period often being longer than the twelve weeks claimed on the website.
