It depends If there is a Pakistani Passport then it should be certified from Pakitsan and If British then It should be certified from Britain.

If you are a sponsor then your whole passport should be certified..If application then first 2 pages would be ok.

Must be done in UK by a Notary or Solicitor (British sponsor passport of course). Thye tend to be more reliable than those in Pak if you know what I mean.( No need to certify wifes passport in Pakistan)
:D

As for widowed mothers cases its a lot complicated and very very difficult to get. I can give you details if you require them

If you are in the UK, then its done by solicitor here in the UK(irrespective of which ever passport you hold)

Batley i've stripped down this post to the follow on questions from the previous 2,3 pages.

1. Do I attest EACH page of my passport of my wife-to-be's passport?

2. Does every copy in the application have to be attested? i.e. copy of P60 etc, my Pak id card, birth certificate copy

3. re. my pre-marriage communication history...
some of the letters i have sent my fiance (soon wife to be inshaAllah) have her dads name on the envelope and her sim is in her dads name. How do i explain this?

4. I have noticed this on the Gerrys website? - do I need one or is it for non-spouse settlement applications only which is appears to say.
http://www.ukvacpk.com/supporting-doc.aspx

5. is it useful to send utility bills i.e., council tax bill for accomodation evidence despite having land registery doc, property survey from solicitor and statutory declaration from parents

Thank you, in advance for your assistance.

Wow your lucky i had nothing whatsoever.. I starting to think something is not right now..

Sabeen i assume your spouse should receive a letter in the coming week then you would need to take the letter along with the medical certificate and passport to your local Gerry office - not sure how long they will take to stamp the visa.

Just a quick question where did you submit your appeal document to? Was it to AIT or UK Visa Section in Croyden (UK)??

I had sent my documents to UK Visa Section in Croyden (UK) and got a feeling that i should have posted out to AIT instead..

No- not neccesary

2. Does every copy in the application have to be attested? i.e. copy of P60 etc, my Pak id card, birth certificate copy

No- All docs must be originals - only your passport will be cerified copies

3. re. my pre-marriage communication history...

It doesnt matter if its got her dads name. Tell them its not our tradition for boys or girls to send letters etc to each other before marriage. Most documents are posted to dads name as he will be more likely known in the villgae/town to the postman, rather some woman or girl

4. I have noticed this on the Gerrys website? - do I need one or is it for non-spouse settlement applications only which is appears to say.
http://www.ukvacpk.com/supporting-doc.aspx

If this is what you are talking about- then yes as you will be filling form VA4a

There is no harm in sending it if you want

Thank you, in advance for your assistance.

--Batley - I thought you said I have to attest each page of my passport in your previous post on page 229...?
Lets get this right, you as the sponsor living in UK has to certify everypage of your British passport..Yor wife who is Pakistan does not have to certify her passport as she will have to send teh original
2. Does every copy in the application have to be attested? i.e. copy of P60 etc, my Pak id card, birth certificate copy

I have more than just a Passport as a copy. My Birth Certificate and NICOP copy card are also on my list to include in my application. So would my question apply to these?
Only your wife in Pakistan has to hand her original passport and NICOP card. If you have a Nadra/nicop card here in UK, that is not required as part of the application

Well why do we need to submit this chek list with the application!!!!! :?
http://www.ukvacpk.com/images/settlement.pdf

Is it necessary to provide this check list along with your application coz i have'nt heard about it before well i think that the gerry's staff do provide this check list to the applicants when submitting application and they tick the check boxes according to the documents being provided and they sign it and include it themselves with the application thats what i know well i could be wrong and Batley khan could give his more professional advice 8)
Which is it of the favors of your lord that ye deny.

Hi Guys,
I have just been reading through this thread, very informative. I have a quick question - my brother's visa application was refused last month, he has appealed and is also submitting a fresh application. He made a right mess of his first application and was, i think, rightly refused. I'm helping him out with gathering info for this app. No my question is that on the VAF4 form he put that his relationship began in Jan 2005 - this is when his marriage was arranged by parents, and since then to when he married (Nov 2009) he has been in contact with wife over the phone (the dreaded calling cards I'm afraid). Because on the last form he put that his relationship began in 2005, does he have to provide evidence of contact etc from that date to present? They talked on the phone but it wasn't a relationship in the full sense of the word. He doesn't think he should change this on the new app to relationship started in Nov 2009 (when he married) as this might look dodgy. What are your views, especially the very infornative batleykahn shahib.

What were the exact wording of the refusal the first time around?

It must be something that Gerrys have just recently introduced for reasons best known to them.

If you are given it at the time , then there is no harm filling it,all its asking is that you list teh documents down forboth your and their records ( I think there were rumours of lost passports and documents not only ago)

Hi Batleykhan, I've just PM'd you the refusal's. Also I was just looking at brother's application and it also says that he started his part-time employment in 2005, he's just got a letter from his employer which says he started in 2004. I think he just guessed when filling in his application form.

In my application I wrote that my relationship began in July when the engagement took place. I was actually in the UK at the time. In my sponsor covering letter (in my opinion a vital document) I stated "my wife I were engaged in July while I was in the UK, with our consultation and consent". This ties the dates together.

The relationship normally begins when you are first introduced to each other physiaclly. It then goes to the engagement bit and eventually ends up in marriage.

It does not mean when you got married and started your relationship as husband and wife.

You obviously have to privide proof your relationship began and the best way for this is to produce a copy of your passport showing when and where you entered the country that your other half was resident

sponsor doc on gerrys website

Post by RHussain07 » Sun Mar 07, 2010 4:14 pm

Batley, Members,

I wasnt referring to the checklist but this sponspor doc form that has appeared on Gerrrys website:

http://www.ukvacpk.com/images/sponsorform.pdf

It seems to imply its for non-spouse settlement applications but want to double check...

thanks guys,

so if the realtionship began in 2005, and entry/ exit stamp is sufficient, does brother also require evidence of ongoing contact from 2005 to present?
He will do sponsor letter, and parents will also do supporting letter saying his marriage was arranged. he's hesitant to use the word 'engaged' as they didn't have a formal engagement with the exchanging of rings. The proposal was taken to the wifes family who accepted.
