salam yousafa and naz786, looks like our applications have been processed but no ones telling us the decisions yet. U chased up your MP's yet? Never thought i would have to go down that route, but i emailed mine today. God knows if they will do it or not.

I need to know the decision now so i can book holidays at work and by the looks of it, its going to be impossible as we are very busy around this time. I actually thought i would be in Pakistan by now looking back when i applied!

Salaam all,

Does anyone know if it possible to request the decision from the Border Agency under the Freedom of Information Act 2000?

1mani_uk u tried your local Council for report? if not then go to a Solicitor whom can do this for you also.If you have family friend whom knows of a Solicitor who can put a report together for you. In the report they do mention the housing Act as not being over crowded and the dwellings of the house etc they calculate in units persons living there etc and then mention act as then stating that another person can live there without it being over crowded.

But this would not be called report from an independent body and would not be accepted in appeal.I have read one post where oneow perosn did the same thing and his appeal was rejected by judge saying solictor is not an indepedant body.So this is not a good idea at all.But if you decide to not go for property inspection report then you can ask your solictors to help

Otherwise a no no.....

Check with yours local council as I know some councils do it for free.So nothing harm asking your counicil are they will to do it.

What I can suggest would be for you to go to a PCO close to your home in Pak and use their call facilities and ask them to do you a letter stating that such and such person is a regular user of our call office and stating which numbers are dialled on a regular basis. Get it signed/stamped and dated. This would then be evidence towards your partner calling you from abroad.
Not a good idea.Never heard anything like that.ahahahah

Settlement Visa

Post by srzsr » Mon Aug 16, 2010 1:43 pm

My wife submitted her settlement visa, on the 1st April 2010 at lahore.

it has been 98 working days and the status still says:

forwarded to Islamabad OC.

I am worried because I see people who applied for there settlement visa much later than we did and there status has changed.

According to the website it doesnt take longer than 120 days but our visa is on 98 days and is still not under process.

I have sent emails to many different email addresses querying our visa but they all give generic meaningless responses. I have tried to contact my local MP but parliament is on break.

Can anyone advise me what to do and does the status always change?

120 working days( 5 days per week plus any bank holidays) is equivilant to 6 months.

It means you still have two months left in which time they can still make a decison.

Your application will be dealt with the Croydon office here in UK, so its the Croydon office you want to be asking for progress.............. that is providing your documents were not in a batch that went AWOL a few months back.

Salaam All,

I just heard back from my MP, it looks like good news:

I am glad to say that I spoke to them today and they told me that her application was decided on 9 August, to issue her a visa to come to join you.

Mkak,

I called my MP's office first on Thursday, sent them an email on Thursday and rang twice on Friday.... below is a copy of the email I sent:

Dear Team (enter MP's name),

I rang your office and spoke to a gentleman who requested I email my query and it would be passed onto the relevant person.

My name is Yousaf and in February this year I got married in Pakistan. I am very keen to bring my wife here and submitted an application for a settlement visa in May this year.

To date the only notification received from the British High Commission is "application under process" which was on (enter date here).

I am really hoping that your office can assist in chasing up the application to see:

A) if it has been processed?
B) if so, what the decision was?
C) what date a decision was made?

I understand from people who have been in a similar situation that there MP or MP's office have contacted the UK Border Agency/British High Commission and have been able to provide answers to the above queries. Detailed below are applicant and sponsor details.

Applicant name:
Applicant DOB:
Applicants passport No:
Applicants Gerry's ref:

Sponsors name:
Sponsors DOB:
Sponsors address:
Sponsors phone:

I really look forward to hearing from you in the hope that my queries can be answered.

Kind Regards

Hi,
What do you mean by a batch of docs that went AWOL a few months ago. I am concerned that our documents could be part of that batch. I have calculated and the 120 days will come to an end on the 17th of September which is just a month away and according to the visa tracker oursis still not under process

Congratulations,
When did you contact the reply and what did you do to contact your mp. I tried contacting my mp but he is on a break until the end of the month.

Any help would be appreciated

Salaam Batley Khan,

Please can you enlighten on the matter of the 'batch that went AWOL a few months back'. Do you know exactly when this was?

In response to: srzsr

We submitted 26th July and our status also still reads 'Forwarded to Islamabad OC'. I phoned Gerrys today to ask them why the status had not changed to 'Under Process at BHC' as now 3 weeks have passed. I was told that some applicants status changed whilst others stayed the same?!?!??! Obviously asked why this was, and they replied by saying that it doesnt really matter and that some people had complained that they did not know what was happening with their application and that is why the status changes! This didn't make any sense to me and I was left more CONFUSED than I was to begin with!!! . I phoned three times and got different answers and sent two e-mails which was just as pointless!

All I know for sure is that there is NO consistency in their approach.

I realise its still early days...so its better for our sanity to be patient.

i would really like some advice/guidance on this as i really want to take this new job but obv not if it will be detrimental to the hubby getting a visa...
Hi sorry to quote my own post but i was hoping that batleykhan or someone could shed some light on this for me? thanks

About itemised billing on a pay and go sim. Its virtully impossible as I have just got back from pakistan. Ufone do provide itemised bills. I submitted one with my application. PAYG.
