Spousal visa vs. Skilled worker visa

Post by engrcj » Fri Mar 10, 2023 6:50 pm

Hi, I hope you're well!

My husband and I have been in a long distance. He's finally moving back to the UK.

His company has offered to sponsor his visa - a skilled worker route. However, we are considering an alternative route which is a spousal visa (dependent visa assuming they are the same?). I currently hold an ILR and naturalisation application in progress.

The biggest differences between the two routes are the fees and the freedom.
His company will pay for everything for his skilled worker visa. If we go on our own for the Spousal entry then at least IHS can be reimbursed.

Has anyone done the spousal entry application on their own? so not using the professional service.. Do you think we can attempt to do it ourselves?

Can anyone provide us some advice what the best approach would be for us?

Many thanks,
MC

Yea the spousal visa application can be done by yourselves and get successful outcome. This forum is filled with people doing it themselves and getting visa granted.
Should you have any questions or need clarification do not hesitate to ask.

What do you mean by this exactly? Why would you get an IHS refund for a spouse visa route?

Fantastic. Thank you!

Ah CR001, didn’t give enough information. Luckily my husbands company will sponsor the IHS fee in either cases.

My naturalization application is pending. Do you know if it’s easier for my husband to get the spouse visa after I become a British citizen or it doesn’t matter?
Is there a list of mandatory documents that I can refer to? Our marriage certificate is the only proof since we’ve been in a long distance. Hope that will work.

Thank you again!

Please ignore my question around the mandatory document list. Got the idea from the gov website.

Wondering if it’s easier to get my husband’s spouse visa approved when I become a British citizen or as an ILR holder.. or does it matter at all?

Also does anyone know if a priority service is reinstated for the spouse visa? Can’t find it on the hove website. Thank you always!

It doesn't matter, it is the same visa regardless of ILR or Citizenship.

It varies per country.

Thank you!

Hopefully quick question.

I currently live in a one-bedroom flat by myself rented from a private landlord. Do we need to provide more than a tenancy agreement?

A spouse visa ties your husband to you.
A Skilled worker visa ties him to his employers.

A tenancy agreement probably suffices for accommodation purposes.

Spousal visa extension paperwork

Post by engrcj » Mon Jul 03, 2023 3:29 pm

Hello, I hope you are well.

Wondering if anyone can help shed some light on the paperwork required for the extension..
We are about to add my husband to the existing tenancy agreement. Wondering if it is okay to add him as an occupant, or does he have to be exclusively labeled as a tenant?
the difference between them is the rent liability.

Thank you for your time in advance!
