Re: Correct address to send spouse visa application

Thanks Karmy. It makes sense to me now. I didn't get any email after my wife's biometric appointment. I only received one email from them after I have submitted my wife's online application form where they mentioned sending the supporting docs to the below address.

International Settlement Applications Operations and Visas,
6 Mill Sands,
Vulcan House,
Sheffield,
S3 8NH

I think it depends on the case by case. For some cases, you need to send to them directly and for some cases you need to get the docs scanned and sent via VFS in the UK.

My verdict is that everyone should keep an eye on the email they receive from UKVI. I accidentally missed my email and sent the supporting docs to the wrong address. It came back to me after a week though. Later I went through my inbox again and found the email (same as yours) where they mention the address to send the supporting docs.

Thanks,

Ronson

Hi Ronson

I sent my documents 3 weeks ago and I haven't received it back nor did they send it back. So I'm assuming I did send it to the right address. I even called them to check up on the status of the application and the guy on the phone said "Awaiting decision". So I'm assuming they got my documents and application and it's under review.

I think the email I got regarding going to VFS centre is if I haven't posted to the PO Box (stated in the online application), I could just go there and get it uploaded etc.

So did you send yours to PO Box as well afterwards or?

Hi Karmy,

That's sound right. If they have confirmed that your application is under process then you don't need to do anything. Good luck with your application.

I missed the email they sent to me. I thought they don't send any confirmation email after submitting the online visa application form so I was very confused on whether to send to PO Box or office address. So I sent to PO Box at first. Next day when I checked the delivery tracker online, it showed that they refused to accept my docs. It took Royal mail a week to return back to me. In between that, I was going through my inbox and noticed their email where they have mentioned the address to send the docs.

To everyone else, please follow the address they mention in the email (after submitting the online application).

Thanks,

Ron

Hi Ronson

Quite weird, they sent your documents back when on your online visa application it told you to post it to that address.

May I know what address did they ask you to send your documents after your online visa application? .. and what address was on it on the email you got afterwards?

My solicitor used Visa4uk website to apply, I'm guessing you used the same as well?

Hey Karmy,

Probably I couldn't make myself clear in the last reply.

After I have submitted my wife's online application via Visa4UK, I immediately received an confirmation email from them (I used my email address) where they mentioned to address where to send the supporting docs. The address is- Vulcan House, 6 Millsands, Sheffield S3 8NU.

I accidentally moved this confirmation email to my junk folder. I was searching on the net for the correct address to send the docs and I was confused. Some people says send to PO Box and some says send to Vulcan House address. So I sent to PO Box which they refused to accept my docs and send back to me. Later I found the confirmation email in my junk folder where I saw the correct address and then sent my docs to that address.

I didn't receive any additional email from them regarding where to send the docs. The address was mentioned in them confirmation email.

Hi Ronson

Makes sense why PO box refused your application as it asked you to send to Vulcan House.

Good luck to both of us with our application.

I completed the application form on 30th March and the email included the sheffield address. So after the biometrics (2nd April) I sent the documents to 6 Millands, Vulcan House on 10th April and according to the tracking they should have received it on 11th April. I did not receive any acknowledgement they have received the paperwork neither did they send it back.

I am very worried as I have been hearing they have changed the rules and they do the scanning system now. Not sure what to do as I have called them and they were not too helpful.

UKVI do not typically confirm receipt of supporting evidence. With regards to the rule changes it is dependent on the country your spouse is applying from - for some countries the scanning system is applicable and for others you continue to post to Sheffield.

Hi Ronson

No, I have been trying to track it every day but it's not been posted back. I wrote an email to my local MP to see if he can find out if they even received it.

I have spent like £20+ sending them email and calling them to see if they have received it. But they said they are unable to check etc...

Hi Karmy,

I have received my docs back from Sheffield office this morning.

Date applied : 27/03/2019
Biometric taken in Bangladesh : 31/03/2019
Sent supporting docs to Sheffield : 10/04/2019
Document received confirmation email from Sheffield : None. I had to send them an email to confirm me whether they have received my documents or not? I waited for 2 months until I decided to email them.
Received supporting docs from Sheffield : 25/04/2019

Exactly 86 days (58 working days) since the biometric appointment.

Fingers crossed !!!

Thanks,

Ron

Hi does it really matter whether you scan at vfs centre or post to them. Mine says information for applicants applying from Pakistan:
All Pakistan settlement applicants. You or your representative/sponsor must send a completed application package within 2 weeks of enrolling your biometrics (not before) to: UKVI International, PO Box 5852, Sheffield, S11 0FX. This should include a stamped, self-addressed envelope or prepaid return self-addressed courier envelope to return any original UK documents, GWF reference, 1 printed copy of the application form, photo and all additional supporting documents

Does this mean I cannot use vfs global scanning centres but instead have to post originals and copies? Thanks

Hi Fizzy,

As far as I am concerned, if they have told you the address for sending the supporting documents then you should send your docs to the address they have mentioned. In my honest opinion, sending it to them is good and both time + money-saving option for you. You don't need to wait for 3 hours in the VFS centre and also pay >£120 for scanning and send to them. If I was you then I would have sent it directly to them in recorded delivery.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Ron

Hi Ron,

Thanks for replying. It states I have to send within two weeks after biometrics appointment. Only after biometrics appointment. Will I need my partner to scan the signed application form or does she need to post original to me? So would you recommend I just post the docs as I don't want them to return it and for me to scan at vfs. Off topic but can my partner pay at vfs Pakistan to keep her passport at the centre as the site is very confusing and won't let me pay for anything thanks

Hi Fizzy,

This is what I did for my wife-

1. I emailed her the application form which I have submitted online (I basically submitted it for her as I know all the information they require). I asked her sign two pages and scan > email to me.

2. When she went for the biometrics, they asked her if she would like priority service. She chosen the normal one. She took her passport, signed application form, national ID card, biometric appointment letter, 4 copies of certified passport size photos and the visa application fees. She also took a photocopy versions as well in case she needs it.

3. After the biometric appointment, she scanned and emailed me the visa fee receipt and signed application form.

4. I also typed and emailed her cover letter to her. She printed > signed > scanned and sent to me via email.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Please follow my advice as your own risk. I shared the process i followed for my wife’s visa.

Thanks,

Ron

Hi Ron,

Thanks for replying Ron

So I have already paid application fees online. I have also paid IHS fees online. Did they stamp the application form during the biometric appointment. Reason I ask is because you say your partner scanned sign application twice.

I have also basically completed the application form on behalf of my partner the applicant. I have created a sponsor letter, is it necessary to have applicant cover letter? Did you have to have passport attested at all?

Kind regards,

Hi Fizzy,

Sorry for not making it clear. No, they don’t sign the application form. I sent my wife the application form via email and she printed, signed 2 paged and emailed me those two pages before she went to her biometric appointment.

Regarding certification of documents, yes she photocopied and certified the bio page of passport, 4 passport size photos which she sent to me via post.

Thanks,

Ron

Hi Ron,

Thanks for the email. Sorry I think I wasn't as clear either. So basically during the biometrics appointment they don't stamp it or anything. So my partner can just sign the application form and email it to me. Does this have to be before the biometric appointment?

Regarding passport I meant the sponsor as in yourself. Did you have to get your passport attested? I have got a scan copy of my partners passport and four passport photos.

Thanks

Hi Fizzy,

Better wait for her to complete the biometric and then you can ask her to scan and email everything for example singed copy of the application form, visa fee receipt etc.

I also certified the bio page of my passport and the transit stamp for my time in Bangladesh for wedding.l

Best,

Ron

you received your documents back on 25/06/19? what Sheffield address did they send you the documents back from?

When you emailed them to see if they received your documents, did they reply back? I emailed them but they didn't reply to my email.

Hi Karmy,

I sent my docs to-

Settlement Applications
International Operations and Visas
PO Box 5852
Sheffield
S11 0FX

They kept all the photocopy versions and sent me back the original copies i.e. job letter, marriage certificate, passport size photos, home inspection report, job confirmation letter, TB & A1 test certificate, wedding card but they kept my bank statements which I am not so much bothered about.

I emailed them via https://contact-ukvi.homeoffice.gov.uk/ ... ge/English. You should receive a response within 2 working days.

Thanks,

Thank you for your response.

I did email them on that link. What did you ask them on the enquiry section? And you mentioned you sent them email after 2 months after submitting the docs, is that correct?
