Could anyone please help me. I have submitted my application for spouse visa on gov.uk few days ago on behalf of my husband in pakistan.
I am uncertain on the next steps. After submitting application, i received a brief document checklist that is for the applicant to take and sign at his biometric appt. I have been told to submit doc here in the Uk.
does my husband need to submit/take anything with him to his biometric appt?

For biometrics in Pakistan, your husband needs first page of submitted application.. that page shows GWF0xxxxxxxx number and all details of fee etc..
In UK you also needs a first page of submitted application along with all documents which you wanna submit... Find nearest VFS GLOBAL APPLICATION CENTRE for submissions of your documents.

Hi everyone

I submitted my husband’s application on 18/09/2019

We had an interview on 2-12-2019

I’ve received an email to say the application has not been straight forward and it’s been delayed

What do I do???

Any advice would be really appreciated

Do I escalate or contact my local MP?

I think you should wait until next week as it will be your 12th week and they told you at interview you'll get a decision next week.

Hi all

Yes I received the email around 7.30am this morning. Interestingly, the email subject contained a VAF number and the body of the email contained a GWF number. I’ve never seen the VAF number before and am confused as to the assignment of two differenr numbers?

Also the email said the ‘processing,’ of the case hasn’t been straightforward. A deliberate use of processing which may allude to anything - complexity, backlog etc etc

This still doesn’t help my worry as I’d rather be out of my misery.

Their 60 days end on 11th Dec but I feel this won’t be met

Thanks for your response, I didn't know such mail could be sent that early in the morning.
Just calm and put yourself together, we have seen many not straightforward on this platform and eventually granted visa.. just be yourself pls, God will see us through to success In Shaa Allah.

Thank you Pawson

I was aware that many could receive this (as read on this forum) but it always feels different when the shoe is on the other foot and you find yourself in that situation too!

I think I’ll have to wait until next week to see what happens and then decide from there

If anyone can shed some light on the VAF number and GWF that would be greatly appreciated - I’ve never seen the VAF number before and am now confused as to what my reference number actually is

May Allah help us all

The GWF is the number your application is automatically assigned when you created it.
VAF means Visa Applied For, from reading online means your application probably requires further info in processing.
Both GWF n VAF has got to do with your ongoing application. Mho

Dont worry everything will be fine, and pray for you to get it soon, if your interview made them believe then you will definitely get it!

I hope you’re right Mandy because this is literally heartbreaking. We have three important dates coming up and would have loved to have celebrated together as a couple ‘first.’

I’m just so upset that the case straight forward email has come literally four working days before the decision was due and also after the interview.

Dont worry, I can feel how you feel, it's one of the toughest time to be patience, but dont worry and you will hear good news very soon, it doesn't matter whether the case is not straight forward or straight forward but getting the good news is very important for our us, so you will get it soon and dont worry.

Hello,

I also received this email 3 weeks ago (28 WD, 6 weeks). I paid for priority. I received mine at exactly 09:30am. I believe these are completely automatic; sent just before the deadlines to prevent us emailing / calling. Now 9 weeks for me and nothing since....
I have not seen on any forum someone receiving this email and it getting refused tbh. From what I can see, eventually all 'not straightforward' emails have resulted in success. I think the delay is likely to do with the applicants country and delays in background checks.

Hello guys. This is the timeline for my husbands application:

04/10 - Online Application (PRIORITY)
07/10 - Biometrics done in Tirana
10/10 - Supporting documents sent to TLS scanning hub
14/11 - Case is not straight forward email.

It is currently 28 working days. Just wondering how long it can take now that email has been sent and when I should escalate.

Thanks.
We did our biometrics on the same day as you and got our not straightforward email today. Have you got any updates?
Really, so annoying! My partner has a poor immigration history so I was expecting it. No updates but I am preparing to wait another 6 weeks :(
Any updates for you rob? It has been 9 weeks for me now. I am not sure whether to wait till 12 weeks to contact UKVI or if I should do it sooner. Regretting that £500 priority decision haha :(

Hi Chloe

Thank you so much for your assurance. I wondered the same too because I did a Sherlock Holmes search on this forum in every possible way and non priority seems to get this email after 54/55 WD but then some did receive them after an interview which may not be around that mark.

I agree too - haven’t seen any rejected but you just never know!

Have you escalated / been in contact to ask?

Yes I heard this morning from my solicitor. UKVI called her just now and said everything was ready and a decision will be made next week. The lady couldn't see where I had paid the assisted scanning fee. She sent some bank details and asked to make a bank transfer of £90 to TLS. However I paid £150 to TLS and have the reciept and I have the confirmation email so my solicitor is going to email them back. My partner also paid £60 when he had his biometrics.

I haven't had a phone interview...

My Solicitor has been really unhelpful tbh. Keeps telling me there’s nothing that can be done and I need to wait and I think well there is something that can be done but you don’t want to

Was your case complex in any way? Eg immigration history, financial requirements etc etc?

Good luck - I hope you receive good news

I’m currently deciding if I A) leave it and wait or B) escalate via my elected MP after 60 days...
