Worried about moving to UK with my partner!

I am a Colombian national, my Bf is from Northern Ireland. I am so worried about being rejected the fiancee visa. Soon, I will be living in France for one year, I will be an aupair there, I would like to know if I can apply at the embassy there? My Bf insists I have to apply from my home country. What papers would we have to show?
