Immigration for my mother/settlement visa? please help

Post by AG » Sun Jan 28, 2007 7:49 pm

I am a permanent resident in the UK and have already applied for my naturalization. I have a mohter (58 years old) in UKraine who is lonely since my father passed away some years ago and she has no other relatives there (well a 78 year old brother). I visit her often, but would like her to come and stay here with me. What is the best way to do it?

I heard of settlement visa which can be issued to my mother if she is lonely in her home country and i am the only person who can support her. How should my mother approach that? Are there particular things she should consider with regard to that method? Is it the best option for her?

Hoe long does it usualy take to get this visa and can she apply for it from UK?
THank you

You need to visit the Immigration and Nationality Directorate website and read the relevant section.

I'd doubt it since she'd have her ukr pension which means she wouldn't be dependent on you financially which, AIUI is one of the 'tests'.
