PIO card

Post by sally1 » Sat Dec 23, 2006 9:42 am

my partner is a British Citizen who wants to get a PIO card on the basis of his father being born in India in 1933...father subsequently emigrated to kenya.

grandfather was also born in India.

father has a kenyan passport that says he was born in india but no other documentation.

Can my husband and we his family get the PIO card or Indian Overseas Citizenship just with fathers kenyan ppt showing place of birth as India?

thanks

Yes, it's possible as long as the birthplace is not in present day pakistan or Bangladesh.Try to contact the Indian embassy. You might have to go to India to find the birth certificate though. That can be an easy process or difficult depending on how IT friendly the local municipality office has been.OF course, baksheesh can open doors in a few days which you will be expected to pay.
