Immigration to the Netherlands from US

Post by cindy » Wed Jan 19, 2005 11:21 am

Hello. I was wondering if anyone has any information on immigrating to the Netherlands as a US Citizen. I have visited ind.nl but they do not have any information on obtaining a work permit from the perspective of an employee (without a job offer). I am looking to relocate but would like to search for a job after obtaining a work permit.

Many thanks!
Cindy

HI Cindy,

You can come over to the Netherlands and stay for upto three months without a visa if you are a US citizen. You could then use these three months to find yourself a job and then apply for a work permit and a residence permit based on any job you may find.

You cannot get a work permit without having a job offer on hand. Your prospective employer has to apply for a work permit for you.

Hope this helps.
