Income tax - work permit or business visa

Hello,

I work for a US firm and wish to work out of the UK office of the same firm for a short period ( one month ) due to some personal reasons.
My company is ready to sponsor either a work permit or a business visa.
I understand that the work permit is for real work and the business visa is more for training purposes.

However I do not understand the tax implications associated with either of them. Will I have to pay tax for even one month of work in the UK being on a work permit ? How about people on business visas ?

Can someone please shed some light on this ?

Yes, you will be taxed on both irrelevant of which visa you decided on.

The only way to lessen the tax burden is to contract to your company as a individual.

I am not sure that is right. If the period in the UK is going to be for only about a month then I think that the terms of the Double Taxation Agreement between the US and UK will mean that the income will be taxed in the US only.
