indefinate stay

1 am in my eight year of legal stay in the country.My current visa expires in January when I will be 9 years. when can I apply for my indefinite stay

What categories of visa have you held for this time? Dates and visas please!

i have held student visa for 6 years and I am currently on tier 2 visa which expires February ( likelihood of renewal under tier 2 is very slim) . by January I will clock 9 years of legal stay in the UK

You need to complete 10 years . The other option you have is to switch back to Student visa. Complete 10 years then go for ILR.
