Indefinite Leave to Remain costs

Post by robertl » Tue May 19, 2015 3:54 pm

Hi, can anyone tell me the costs for ILR application, for dependants. I understand it is £15oo now for the primary application. It is stated that Dependants are also £1500, though it isn't clear if that is for EACH family member or a ONE OFF cost for all the immediate family members. Would be very grateful for any clear advice. Many thanks

£1500 per person applying for ILR, whether main applicant or dependents. There is an additional charge of £400 per person applying if you select to go for premium service appointment.

Thank you. May I ask if you know my other options. I am on an Ancestry visa currently which I think is considerably cheaper to renew?
Though are there any other Leave to Remain or extension visas? Thank you if you can help.

If you are on an Ancestry visa, you can extend it as many times as you wish, you are not obligated to apply for ILR.

However, bear in mind that if you do this rather than apply for ILR, you have an additional cost of £1000 per person (main applicant and each dependent) for the new NHS surcharge. So for a family of 4, as an example, it will be £4,000 on top of the visa extension fees.

The same would apply to any other possible route of visa you may qualify for, Tier 2 General for example the surcharge is also payable for each person applying and on top of that, the main applicant will be tied to one employer and you will lose the freedom you have now to change jobs.

Thankyou. So for a family of three as I have, the ILR at £4500 is the best route plus the most economical.

From what I understand from your post there is no NHS Surcharge with ILR?

Correct, ILR is exempt from the NHS surcharge.

£4,500 would be for a postal application, which can take a few months. If you want an in person appointment for all three of you to get a decision on the day, it is an additional £400 each premium service fee on top of the £4,500.
