Indefinite Leave to Remain(Getting Married)

Post by najibarahman » Tue Oct 03, 2006 5:22 pm

Hello,

Please answer this question so i can help my friend.

His daughter was given indefinite Leave to Remain about 2 months ago(at BHC in Pakistan). Daughter would like to get married before coming to the UK for the first time. Would this affect her ILR status? she is now 17.5 years old.

Thanks for your help in advance.

ILR is issued in the UK, so I suspect that it was ILE that was issued ... indefinite leave to enter. Can I ask, on what basis was that ILE issued?

Now getting married? Suspect that will not affect her ILE. But is she then hoping to sponsor her husband to join her in the UK? If so do note that she cannot sponsor him until she is 18 years old, and indeed her husband is at leas 18 years old.

OK, understood. I don't think her marriage will alter that ILE, but as already said she cannot act as a sponsor for her husband until she gets to her 18th birthday.
