Thanks again Zimba!

Can I ask what exactly does the Home Office mean by the term "entry clearance"?

According to this link, entry clearance technically means applying for a visa:

https://workpermit.com/immigration/unit ... %20holders

My Tier 2 visa approval letter is dated 06 November 2016

The visa vignette states entry from 18/11/2016 to 18/12/2016

My first BRP was valid from 11/11/2016 to 25/01/2019

I am confused as to whether I gained entry clearance on 06 November (visa approval letter date) or 18 November as far as the Home Office is concerned.

Apologies in advance for asking. I can't take the risk of applying before the completion of the qualifying period and losing the ILR application fee.

Thanks again and hope everyone stays safe in their communities!

You can apply no sooner than within 28 days before the 5th anniversary of your initial visa ISSSUE date or date of BRP, ie 11 Nov 2021 minus 28 days.
Would the issue date of my first Tier 2 visa be the date of the approval letter (06/11/2016) or BRP (11/11/2016) or the visa vignette sticker (18/11/2016 to 18/12/2016). The term called "entry clearance" in Home Office caseworker documents pertaining to calculating qualifying periods is very ambiguous and confusing to me.

The approval letter stated I had permission to stay in UK as a Tier 2 migrant from 18/11/2016 to 25/01/2019.

The thought of losing the ILR fee for applying too early makes me nervous.

Look forwards to hearing advice from the respected moderators and experts!

Thanks in advance!

This has been answered before and I'm not going to repeat this again. 'Entry clearance' is a visa issued outside the UK. The date of entry clearance is the date for such clearance being approved. The Sticker, BRP, etc may have a different issue date due to administrative reasons

Thanks again Zimba! You are right. My ILR clock started on the date of my initial Tier 2 visa letter from the Home Office dated 06 November 2016 and the gap from this date to my actual arrival in UK (05/12/2016) will be regarded as an allowable absence from the UK. An immigration specialist from my professional union confirmed my ILR clock started on 06/11/2016 and I can apply for ILR 28 days prior to this date on 09/10/2021 at the earliest.

My latest question is: I worked extra hospital night shifts with my hosting hospital in 2020 and was paid GBP 11,000 through PAYE but no income tax and national insurance was paid as the hosting hospital mistakenly used my personal allowance and released all of the funds to my bank account. The HMRC informed me of a tax underpayment of around GBP 2,300 towards the end of last year and started deductions and tax code changes. I called HMRC today and they stated they could not see any negative information on my personal tax account but stated the tax code would be changed again to recover the arrears over 2021 and 2022-2023 and I will receive a tax code change letter. I requested a personal tax statement from 2019 to current for my records and possibly using this for my ILR application if everyone advises for this to be submitted.

Would my ILR application be affected because of this PAYE tax underpayment because of my previous hosting hospital incorrectly applying my personal allowance and should this be explained in a cover letter?

Thanks in advance to everyone and hope everyone stays safe and well!

Those tax issues will be resolved via PAYE tax code magic and automatically by HMRC. They have no effect on your ILR

Thanks again Zimba!

As my first Tier 2 visa approval letter is dated 6th November 2016, I believe in my case the earliest 28 day window would start from 9th October 2021.

My question is: Would it be alright to submit my ILR application around 3 weeks earlier to the 9th October i.e on or after 20th September and have 2 to 3 weeks to get a UKVCAS biometric appointment on or after 11th October (within the 28 day window)?

Is the UKVCAS phone app still in operation? I hope it's still around as I previously submitted my biometrics on three previous Tier 2 applications ( 2016, 2018 and 2019) and spare me the drive for an office appointment.

Thanks again and hope everyone stays safe and well!

Please let me know what's the maximum number of days allowed between online visa / ILR application submission and UKVCAS biometrics appointment?

Thanks in advance!

You must attend the biometrics appointment within 45 days after submitting online.

Thanks CR001!

It appears to me after going through the UKVI website the ID app is still in operation for known applicants with previously submitted fingerprints for these to be reused.

My questions are:

1. Would the 45 day delay for biometrics appointment apply in case the Home Office allows the reuse of fingerprints and the ID app to submit photos etc? If this is possible i would apply online on 20th September and upload documents on the UKVCAS website and only submit my photos on the phone app on 11th October (within 28 day window).

2. If I submit my online application on 20th September and submit biometrics on 11th October with an office appointment or the phone app, should my one month bank statement be dated a few days before 20th September or 11th October? Should I submit my payslip for the end of August or September?

Thanks in advance an hope everyone stays safe.

IDV appears to only be available for Student visas. If potentially available for other applications, you will be informed if you qualify. If you don't, you need to book an appointment. You cannot choose which you prefer to use. I have seen no ILR applicant in recent months get the IDV option.

The date of application is the date you submit and pay online and that is the date relevant to the supporting document dates.

Thanks again CR001!

Would it be possible to book a biometrics appointment 45 days in advance after submitting and paying for an ILR application or are appointments visible and available only 28 days in advance?

Thanks again and hope everyone stays safe!

Dear moderators, please let me know if I can submit my ILR application early (i.e 36 days before the start of the 28 day window) and get my sponsor to provide a supporting letter a couple of days later? Would this post dated ILR supporting letter from my sponsor be acceptable to the Home Office?

I could only see the requirement for my payslip and bank statement to be backdated for 1 month prior to the ILR submission date but no such requirement for the ILR supporting letter from my sponsor.

The reason I want to apply early is because I want to secure a free UKVCAS appointment as I cannot afford expensive appointment fees within my NHS salary.

Thanks again and hope everyone stays safe!

Dear friends, I am very close to submitting my completed SET O form for ILR. I aim for a biometrics appointment on 11 October 2021 as this is within the 28 day window prior to the date of my first Tier 2 approval letter dated 6th November 2016.
I request answers to the following questions:

1. Would submission of local council tax bills, water company bill, property registration deed and mortgage company payment statements be necessary for applying for ILR?

2. I would be submitting copy of my individual bank account. Would the signature of my wife in the form PART 2: Consent for the Home Office to verify third party information be required? I may not wish to submit copies of the local council tax and water bills as my wife's name is included as joint account holder if PART 2: Consent for the Home Office to verify third party information is necessary for ILR application processing.

Many thanks and hope everyone are safe and well!

Thanks again Zimba!

I applied online on the 9th September 2021 and was given a deadline of 10th November 2021 to submit biometrics. Seems there is a comfortable 2 months deadline for biometrics submission. Anyway I managed to book my biometrics appointment within the 28 day window to reaching the 5th aniversary of my first Tier 2 approval letter.

My latest question is: Do I have to sumbit any DBS or criminal record certificate? It's not mentioned anywhere in the mandatory documents checklist.

Thanks again and hope everyone stays safe and well!

My child (on Tier 2 dependent visa) was born in UK nearly 4 years back. Do I have to write a cover letter explaining I will apply for my child's UK citizenship as soon as I am granted ILR?

My wife and child are not included in my ILR application.

I have read of previous cases having ILR delayed because children in the family were not included in the application.

Thanks again!

Please let me know what type of documents to upload in the category "Residence in the UK"?

I have uploaded my previous and current UK biometric BRP cards, all scans of Home Office successful visa letters/email and UK police registration certificate in this category.

Please let me know if everything is fine with my uploaded documents in this category.

Dear moderators, should I print all of the submitted documents or would it be acceptable to take a USB flash drive with all of the uploaded documents in case anything has to be rescanned and resubmitted?

Should I submit all documents to UKVI before my UKVCAS appointment or would it be alright to leave this till the end of the appointment? I paid for priority 5 day service. Would earlier submission of documents to UKVI enable a faster decision for my ILR?

Thanks in advance!
