Hi,

I have a question please I am a British citizen. My wife and daughter are completing 10 years next month. Our daughter was born abroad. I was planning to apply for ILR under long residence route for both of them.

I am just wondering if I apply for my wife first under LR and can we apply for british citizenship for our daughter instead of applying for ILR first?

Is there any chance if we could apply for british citizenship directly for our daughter rather LR ILR?

Thanks a lot!

I assume you were not a British citizen when the child was born, so the answer is no. Non-UK-born children have no entitlement to British citizenship. So they need to secure ILR first and can only be registered as British if at least one parent is British and the other is at least settled.

Hi Zimba,

Thank you. That's right, I was not British when she was born abroad, only had ILR. My daughter is 12 now and has been loving in UK for nearly 10 years. So can she apply for naturalisation after 12 months after getting ILR please ? What's registering as British please? Thanks.

Children do NOT naturalise, they get registered. Registration is a process of applying for British citizenship, often used for people who can get citizenship through their circumstances or entitlements, e.g. children. You simply apply and get a certificate of registration and there is no ceremony. Form MN1 is used. I already explained above when such a child can be registered.

Hi Zimba,

Thanks again. Much appreciated.

Sorry, I know this has been asked here many many times.

Mandatory documents for LR route :
passports for last 10 years
Current BRP card
Life in the UK
B1 test
3rd party consent form.
Parent consent form ( for child)

Is this list correct please?
Do I need to provide anything else please?

I have put the B1 and life in the UK references on the application. Do I still need to upload them on ukvas site please?

Regard to the passports, do I need to upload all the pages please?

Is it necessary to upload 3rd party consent for both my wife and child please?

Many thanks ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

If they are applying under long residence they do not need any thrid party consent.
All documents should be uploaded. Only upload the biometric passport page and the pages covering any travel stamps.
There is only one consent form, part one is signed by the applicant only here. For the child, you sign on their behalf

Hi Zimba, thank you for all your help.

I have a question regarding the consent for verification which has 3 parts please.

Do I sign the part 1 and upload it? Do I need to write non applicable on page 2 and 3 and upload them at all please?

Same question for my child 's application as well please.

Also, is it necessary to upload copy of b1 test and life in the UK please? The reason I am asking as I would be putting the certificate reference numbers on the application anyway.

Also, do I need to upload the checklist pages at all please ?

Many thanks!

Only sign part one. You better upload the certificate too. You do not need to upload the checklist, that is for your own reference
