Re: set m success

Post by Invincible_27 » Thu Dec 15, 2011 11:22 am

Thanks nahmah for the information,

I have travelled a bit in last two years well a fair bit, but I didn't include any spreadsheet cos there is no where mentioned to do so for SET M form, I know there is a spreadsheet on the form for naturalisation where they would like to know the exact number of days and reason for leaving the country but not for set m. are you sure about this?

i am in 8th week and waiting....
nahnah wrote:i am back my friends....as promised to give you a gist of my story.....

well if you read my previous posts there's a bit of info on my background but for the sake of new readers here goes

applied for set m on the 13th september through a solicitor.....now you might ask why a solicitor....my case wasnt that straightforward....well i had all the documents but at the last minute my spouse had to travel urgently due to family illness so all we were left with was an endorsed copy of the passport....so to set our minds at ease we engaged the services of the lawyer. secondly with the lawyer you get to have someone else you can talk to and tell your worries to....you are not going it alone....yes it does cost money but then at the end i believe it is worth it....also i read somewhere that cases that are not straightforward could be given some credibility wen it is presented by a lawyer.....i believe it is because they think lawyers research and know about human rights and before presenting an application do thier homework....well that;s what i think....

i had no dependants....was not claiming any public funds....i was working but my spouse wasnt and there wasnt too much money in our bank accounts....

i hope i covered everything...well the indefinite visa was stamped from liverpool on the 2nd december and received by lawyer on 12th...sent by recorded delivery......

i must confess this journey was a horrific one...especially the worrying part knowing that i had gone above the average waiting times.....but i had hope...i won't say i wasnt disturbed....but then if you have faith just pray....pray and never give up...... coming to think of it possibly one reason why it delayed 12.5 weeks was that i did not include a spreadsheet of my times...and i had done quite a bit of travels...so i guess it was left to the caseworker to go through all my passports, 2 of them....the old and the new....to work out my absences....so the advise if you are new to this or u cld pass it on is to include a spreadsheet.....

i guess i have spoken much so i will stop here and by all means ask any questions.....

those waiting...gaku....isharif and all the others...it will be well.....best wishes my friends and it is good we have this support network!

Hi, gaku and Invincible_27,
The home office email address is settlementopspolicy@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk, I am not sure if you can get what you needed, however, you can get their reply in the next day. Good Luck!

hi,

i doubted the effectiveness of sending emails to home office tbh. I have sent 3 emails to them since 2dec2011 and 1 letter via post on 6dec2011. no reply at all. i need to go on a business trip in jan and my job is on the line. I seriously think UKBA are totally ridiculous on this!! They asked you to pay £400 extra then they can process it within 10mins otherwise you need to wait for a good few months with tremedous worries. i have to say we still pay £1k for postal app which isn't small amount! However, we are not even allowed to ask about the progress! if they said they haven't got enough staff for this, i was wondering how they could always take our money on the next day of receiving the app without delay!!

my time line is:
App posted: 23Sept2011
Ack Letter: 26Sept2011
Expedite email sent: 02,08,16Dec (Email), 06Dec(Post)
Set (M)

i saw post earlier mentioning their fax number? has anyone still got that? i'll try whatever!

Hi, amysmith,

I am so sorry to hear about that you sent 3 emails to them and no answer at all, I send home office the email in the afternoon of last Thursday and get their reply in the Friday afternoon, the guy is very nice, however, I just be told he can gurantee my case will be considered in their work standards (over 95% completed within 6 minths)

Sorry, should have mentioned it was SET(O) and I was under the Judicial Review provisions.

Also should mention that I was quite worried as I left my job to set up a business last August, the business came to an end in March and I had a baby in April, so I've been essentially unemployed since my baby arrived. Glad to see the Home Office aren't going to fight me on it. On the other hand, I'm married to an English person and my baby has English citizenship, so that may have played a part.

Also, I've complained to my local MP about the waiting times. I realise some people think we should all just wait and endure it, but there's absolutely no reason that the Home Office should keep our passports for six months or potentially more. We all have friends and family back home and it's ridiculous that we're unable to leave the country without losing a grand if we need to. I'd urge others to make the same complaint to their MP (after you get your visa back, if you'd rather not rock the boat).

Congratulations! Flossj, you must be completely relief now. I am so glad for you! I apply for my ILR as the same type as you, application sent 07/10/2011, still waiting, hopefully I can get mine very soon.

SET(O)

Posted 12/09/2011
Confirmation Letter Received 16/09/2011
Still waiting...

Was optimistically hoping I will get my passport back by December so I can go home for my Dad's birthday and Christmas.

Looks like it's going to be a lonely one this year. Just amused that something that can be done in a couple of hours (at an extra cost of course) can take so long!
Hello all,

This forum has been extremely helpful during all 3 of my visa applications.

I've applied under the pre-Nov HSM Jr ruling and it's a fairly straightforward application.

The documents I've supplied are -
Cover letter
6 months payslips
6 months bank statements
Employment letter from current employer
4 most recent P60s and letter from the HMRC showing income earned and tax paid over 5 years (I'd lost my first P60)
Previous 2 visa approval letters (initial and extension)
Council tax and bank letters dated over 2 years as proof of cohabitation
Birth certificates of the 2 kids
Passports

My ILR application timeline so far is as follows -

16th August - Application Posted by special delivery
17th August - Application received by BIA
19th August - Payment deducted from credit card

Fingers crossed...
