ILR postal applications (excluding 10/14 yr.)

Welcome to the forum, SET(O)ILR_JR . We need more and more people to join and share your experiences. It really boosts everyone's else morale and keeps us all going. I guess ..its only when you are in this situation, we can appreciate others in same situation.

Hi guys, is it OK if I post our "waiting list" once a week and then just edit it everytime new member joins or ILR received, otherwise need to post it over and over? opinions?)

We went through the local checking service on Oct 11th. Set M Spouse ILR.
So just over 16 weeks now.

Ours is not completely straight forward as we spent some time out of the country together as a family (we have a young son who has started school now), and I was claiming a little HB at the time of application as a sponsor which has reduced since the application.

Also, we didn't receive the acknowledgement letter after the application was tracked to Durham, so I wrote to them two weeks ago and got the standard acknowledgement letter back from UKBA last week (almost 15 weeks after applying) so we're not sure if our application process has just started, or they sent the letter in hindsight. At least we know they now have it.

Still waiting though...

Hi polly_s, Just wanted to let you know what a great job your doing since taking over from doubletrouble. I'm in favour of your suggestion of updated the list once a week or when someone has joined or have their ILR received. I'm sure the rest will be in similar favour.

Your suggestion of posting once a week & editing when one joins is really good Polly, your hard work is much appreciated.

thanks for the cheerin up but trust me its so difficult when you know that some people got it very quick and all the best for them , but the others have to wait until when ? at the moment im really strugglin to keep patient , yesterday i was so tired my eyes went blue but i couldnt sleep until 3.30 in the morning ,everytime there is something , i contacted my local mp today and i hope this time he will tell me something i havent hear before because the second time he sent me the same email as before , so whats the point of being an mp if you cant help your people that voted for you , never mind i really hope something will turn up because its getting harder everyday

guys who applied under set (m), a question for you: Is it the same for all of us: 2 years with flr (m) status, then set(m) application, then citizenship after a year? and I always wondered how would they count 90 day per year absense from the UK?!

speed120, The only person who has the answer to that are the caseworkers. I hope & pray that your ILR is granted soon, try not to worry, as worry can cause sickness, please don't put your life on the line, all will be well.

U should be fine I am on same board but I did contact my MP and after a week I received a interview letter from HO.just pray in the end every thing will be fine. Good luck

I also applied under set m 10 weeks ago and found out my son who is ill in another country needs as operation. I have sent expediting letter to home office and MP because I didn't get a response but I am still praying that everything will be ok.

I am so angry with UKBA about the way they keep you in suspense and when you attempt to find out, they are so rude it's almost like they don't have compassion for your troubles.

So, patience, and plenty of it, prayers and good thoughts will surely yield positive results.

As my name suggests i have indeed made a big blunder by posting the application..But like many others here never knew it would take so long ..Anyone who has'nt applied and seeing this post - 550£ is nothing in comparison to the torturous wait of 3-5 months !

Just crass inefficiency and I don't care when you get their passport back altitude, nothing else. They are very quick & efficient to take your money but sadly, very slow to deliver the service you've paid for. Haven't you wondered how come they are very quick to debit your card/account the day they receive your application or the next day but only to keep your passport & document in the cooler for 6 months. And most annoyingly you are not even allowed to inquire about the progress of the application after f**king out so much money??? Big shame.......

Speed120 I guess what it means is that a case worker has obviously looked at (processed) your application but maybe could not reach a decision and therefore require a more senior officer to look at it and make a call on it - just like refering a patient to a higher hospital for better treatment. I could be entirely wrong?? Do you reckon it was a straight forward application? Just asking........

I have a deep regret sending my application by post. Even though I have now received my passport I would have been better off if I had done in person not just emotionally but financially too. Had I been able to claim for child benefit in September I would have easily forked out more cash.

Just thought of sharing this for those who have still not made a mistake of postal application.

Spot on doubletrouble. Same as me here albeit I've still not received my passport with ILR back till now. If I had applied at a PEO back in September I would have received more money in child benefit by now more than the money I tried to save. Also I would have been 7 months away from naturalisation by now. Shame I never knew about this forum before I sent my application by post in September.

Superman555, doubletrouble ... same feeling guys. Wish I had known this forum before I had posted the application. Anyone not yet applied - here's a bit of advice from us - go for the in person application rather than the postal application ... bit more expensive but will be money well spent.

hi superman555 ,well i dont know about what you said is wrong or right because i contacted the mp he told that they told me that my case is still under active consideration , now they told me is being processed but not completed so im totally confused .

Thought this would be relatively quick and straight forward as I had already completed biometrics 16 months previously on an successful FLR(M) application.

19th October SET M paperwork sent through settlement checking service for wife and daughter

21st October UKBA received paperwork plus money taken from bank account

25th October letter received stating application was being processed

Now on 15th week of waiting

hi guys, it sounds like you work for PEO ;) the way you advertise it!)
anyway, its clearly saying on HO page that, in my case, 95% of application processed within 6 months, i have no complains so far seeing that guys get their passports back after 11-16 weeks!

I understand your point polly_s. It's just that when unexpected things happen you know, illness, deaths, emergency situations and you are required to travel and then can't, thats when the worry and frustration sets in.

Also what is this insane idea that you cannot even check on the progress of your application? How come they are so good and efficient at taking your money and then are so rude to you subsequently.

I really hope nothing untoward happens to your loved one as it has happened to me because you will feel like tearing your hair out.
