smz, can't you get a temporary ID from your embassy and travel back to your country? there is a number provided in a letter saying call this in case of emergency..

sadly my closest relative is in a very serious condition too, aftera brain operation with chances to survive it 1-1000,as doctors said.

we left our countries and signed for this process to remain in the UK, here we go, waiting time and everyone got their price to pay..
sadly some suffer of not being able to help thier loved ones, others with the missed chance to claim benifits a mont of two earlier than they planned, sorry for sarcasm,im not a big fun of benifit claimers...

I understand exactly what you mean. My wife has been in the Uk for 16 years and has been working in the NHS for 10years and has never claimed benefit. I didn't even know what benefit was until it became major news recently.

Anyway, to answer your question, I took that same decision yesterday with my wife to go to our embassy to get an emergency travel documents so I can go home and look after our son. Of course I can't come back into the country until I get my passport sent to me abroad through the embassy.

My wife is due to give birth herself in 5 weeks time as well. Can you imagine leaving your heavily pregnant wife at such a time to care for a sick son? As we religious people say though, with God all things are possible but this isn't the best of times for us really :(

Hi All,

Have just joined the forum.

Applied 24th Oct 2011
Visa rejected payment 26th Oct - thought it was fraudulent.
UKBA returned documents 14th Nov (not sure why they took so long)
Reapplied 14th Nov
Payment taken 16th Nov
Acknowledgement Letter 19th Nov
Still waiting.........

I now wish we hadn't applied through the post as it cost us around 3 weeks to begin with. I totally agree with going in person, paying the extra 1000pounds and then claiming for Child Benefits which would have subsidised the extra fee. Then we could apply for citizenship earlier.

We have already had to postpone a holiday that was paid for as the website does not make it obvious that applications can take up to 6mths, I had to go searching for this information.

Hi Guys,

I applied for SET(M) visa. My wife's grandfather is in a critical stage. We have to travel to our home country. Is their any way we can get our passport back? If not mine, I need my wife's passport.

Thanks for your help.

Ring 087 number and explain the urgency of your case.
They might give you fax/email to contact as well.
You need to submit a letter from his doctor. It might be worth getting this whilst you are waiting for all this.
As you have waited 14 weeks there is a possibility they might expedite your case. As from observation this can take another 2-3 weeks.

Good luck.

Hello everyone

I completed the online application form for SET M and paid the fee online on 2nd November 2011. I sent all the documents on the same day. I received an acknowledgement letter on 6rd November (dated 4rd of november). Now it has been over 13 weeks and I am still waiting. The wait is so stressful. I can't understand why they can not provide an online tracking service. I hope everyone receives their passports very soon.

I have a question for those who have already got their ILR. When they return your passports and documents, does the postman just leave them in your postbox or do you need to sign when you receive them?

Good luck everyone!

Took my wife (set m ilr) 16 whole long dreaded weeks before the postman knocked on our door - Was sent using Royal Mail recorded signed for delivery. Package sent from Liverpool.

Postal Apps = Patience my friend but I do know how you all feel, we went through this torture too, good luck all.

Please add me as well

Application Type: SET(O) JR PRE Nov
Date Sent:30-01-12
Payment debited: 02-02-12
Ack letter received: 06-02-12

From this thread timelines I know I have to have long wait around 5 months or 20 weeks on average. will update forum if there is any progress.

Despite just big chunk of fees pity that there is no online tracking nor normal telephone no nor any email. shame HO

I am new here. Having been reading all the information from this forum, and found they are very useful. Thanks for everyone who is sharing all the information and experience with us!
Just read some discussion about child benefit. Considering HO needs to decide similar number of cases as the number of cases submitted every day, otherwise, the number of cases will be piled up in HO, and also considering the information provided in post application is similar to that through PEO, I do not know why it will take so long for post application, 5 months or more. Do you think HO is manipulating the process time, such that a lot of family cannot claim the child benefit for about 5 months? Bearing in mind that most of us in this forum are staying and working in this country for more than 5 years, paying tax and NI, but get nothing from benefit.

Information on ILR Processing times and application numbers.

Post by pymapp » Tue Feb 07, 2012 12:33 pm

As part of my daily attempts to unearth information on the current state of ILR application processing times I found this site:

http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/body/ukba

And this response to a question concerning ILR processing times and application numbers:

http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/9 ... 021271.pdf

It includes this statement: "I can also advise that for 2010 – 2011 the average processing time was 47 calendar days"

I wonder if they have combined the processing times from two years to keep the average time down? It would be interesting to find out the average processing time for each individual year.
