£500???
You should tell that to BBC, they'll love the story!
And I am guessing (not sure about you, but) some will pay as much as that. How sad....

"UK visa appointments 'sold for cash'"
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21463492

Some guys are making nice living by milking us off, but there's an obvious demand for this, and we all know how badly appointments are needed!
I booked my PEO appointment for 03.10.12 and couldn't use it as my son's visa was delayed. When I was hunting to get another one before 26.10.12, one solicitor offered me to buy it from him for £500 (yes just the appointment slot). May be the solicitors have a tie in with these guys to make easy money.

All those who are waiting for a long time and their application has not been decided they can register their compalints on the email or address mentioned below:

UKBACustomerComplaints@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk

UKBA Complaints Allocation Hub
Lunar House
Wellesley Road
Croydon
CR9 2BY

It is better the applicant make his or her complaint first rather than getting the MP involved.

If home office is not responding to you then you can speak to your MP.

Note: This advice is not a subsitute to a professional advice, It is just based on personal experience and observations.

Hi there,

thank you for the info.
I am somehow for for not getting MP involved, though in some cases it is the only option...

Do you mind posting the UKBA web info page you saw this email address on, describing what sort of nature complaints we should file with this, or the explanation how they handle complaints? as I read once that their guideline for handling complaints is like 4 weeks?

Cheers!

I am sure UKBA will pipeline everything (MP letter, complaints, Freedom of Information requests,...etc) to BLACKHOLE.

Personally, I think it is useless to lodge a complaint about UKBA performance to UKBA. It is nonsense. Obviously, there is no guarantee of their objectivity during investigation. There must be an external agency or QUANGO who can investigate such case and help with future legal claim.

ILR Set (O) Postal application in August 2012

Post by eskayravi » Mon Feb 18, 2013 4:03 pm

Dear All,

I am sorry but long wait raises many questions in my mind and hope with others too.

I am sorry to ask about this question, are you aware of any rejection during this long wait for your friends, colleagues, relatives etc. Is it a normal process to keep it so long for everyone whether our application is successful or not?

Can any one reply on this? Thanks.

From what I could tell from the stories in here, waiting time length is no indication of rejection / approval. Some get rejection after waiting for over 6 months, some get it after 2 or 3, and the same goes for approval.

Hi justiceseeker,
It is better to make a complaint rather than doing nothing. You might have heard this famous saying in Hindi and Urdu that "A mother won't feed the child untill he cries"

If there is a procedure available for something why not make use of it.

What category are you applying under?
It seems some category applicants are successful in shorter time while the rest seem to be suffering from backlogs that keep growing in volume.

Sorry for the confusion Baxx . I thought my message header would explain the type of application . It is a set form (M) application .

Ah!
Sorry, I tend not to look at the header, my fault.
SET(M) is taking 3 - 4 months in many cases, some extending to wait for 6 months, unlike SET(O) tier1/work permit which now waiting well over 6 months.
Hope this helps.

I'm not going to argue with an ancient wisdom, perhaps below will be self-explanatory:

'Poor service'

In his latest report,, on the UKBA's handling of legacy asylum and migration cases, Mr Vine found a third of letters from lawyers and MPs were repeat requests for information about ongoing asylum cases.

"By any benchmark of a public sector organisation, that's a poor level of service," he said before adding that complaints handling in other parts of the UKBA he had inspected had been "equally poor".

He said 7% of UKBA files had gone missing and others had been duplicated and were "floating" around the system - but the biggest problem was the organisation's working culture.

"Workers in the agency don't see the people behind the files," he told the MPs.

Last month, Mr Vine accused the UKBA of supplying inaccurate information to MPs about the backlog of asylum cases and said Parliament had received incorrect assurances about progress.

Jonathan Sedgwick, the UKBA's director of international operations, apologised to the Home Affairs Committee for what he said was an "inadvertent" mistake.

He said the agency had always tried to give MPs accurate information on unresolved cases but there was a "necessary imprecision" about the figures because of the number of years over which they had accumulated.

This is fast; I mean the biometric invitation letter. Hope you will have your ILR soon. Making me think that UKBA is speeding up now for fresh applications.

ILR at last

Post by neerukonda9 » Tue Feb 19, 2013 2:40 pm

Hi All,

I am glad to share my ILR application success.

Application date posted: 06/07/12
Acknowledgement received: 18/07/13.
ILR Approved:15/02/13
BRP: still waiting

Meanwhile After 6 months I started chasing HO by calling the call centre NO use with routine reply 'incomplete'.
Used local MP to contact UKBA and MP sent an email to CEO, UKBA
Complaint sent to UKBA via recorded delivery
Sent letters to case workers via recorded delivery
Sought the Information from UKBA with July Application details like 'Complete and in complete for the month of July 2012.

After huge struggle and long wait finally patience paid off.

Good luck to all those still waiting and I wish you all get ILR very soon.
