July Application

Post by Varinder.Marwah » Fri Feb 15, 2013 9:31 pm

Absolutely frustrated and disturbed; timelines as follows,
Application Type : Work Permit + Tier 2 - Set (O)
Date Application Posted : 26th July 2012
Date Application Received by UKBA : 27th July 2012
Biometrics Letter Received : 7th November 2012
Date Biometrics Done : 8th November 2012
Wrote to the MP : 28th Jan 2013
Reply from the MP : 29th Jan 2013 stating that I'll have to carry on waiting and that UKBA have a backlog
Tried calling them a few times and the same reply "Application not completed yet"
Does anyone know any other avenue to get some answers?

November Application

Post by Teeandcee » Fri Feb 15, 2013 10:23 pm

Just want to update my processing times for whoever is interested as I found this really useful.

Type of application: SET(O) - after 5 yrs of being on HSMP/Tier 1
Date Applied:14/11/2012
Date of the acknowledgement letter: 19/11/12
Date of biometric letter: 14/01/2013
Date biometrics taken: 17/01/2013
Date documents and passport received: 02/02/2013 (dated in the letter)
Date BRP received: 05/02/2013

Very quick it seems only 2 and 1/2 months - processed in Liverpool

Similarly, I just got my UKBA letter today (16 Feb) from Liverpool, marking a 3 month 3 week wait for my Set(M) application. Odd how Liverpool is getting applications through this quickly.

If the UKBA does an initial sift, which I think they do based on one of those Freedom of Information q's, what are the chances that personal aspects of our lives lead us to be categorised differently? What I mean, is someone from a Commonwealth country likely to be processed faster than someone not? If your income is high and easy to verify would you end up in a different pile than, say, an applicant who relies on monetary support from a family member? (thinking that the latter means additional checks.)

I'm not suggesting that we all reveal personal details but I've often wondered if a couple case workers take a quick look, make a snap decision and then put people into different piles based on nationality, income, etc. Apart from timelines on here, it's impossible to judge how similar or different peoples' circumstances are. Just a thought (as I kill time with my husband and kids away on a holiday that I should be on because I'm 3 months into my set(m) being processed!)

CHANGE OF ADDRESS

Post by SeanChessPlayerX » Sat Feb 16, 2013 10:59 pm

Hi guys, just thought i'd share this with you guys. I guess i made a big mistake for contacting UKBA regarding my change of address. I applied under set m in October and had to move homes in Jan. I received a letter from UKBA yesterday asking for further documentary proof (bills, tenancy agreement/ mortgage payment etc).

I actually wouldn't have informed them, cos its getting really frustrating, wonder how long i'll have to wait now :(

Plus i redirected my mails so i would have received it anyways.

I came this country via Bus and train in a year 2002 from Ireland(Dublin) with valid visa. My visa was from July 2002 to June 2005.There was no entry seal to my passport obviously there was no custom and Immigration point. That is why caseworker count my Entry seal when i came back from India in a year 2003(Holiday purpose).Simply caseworker thought, I came this country 2003.

August 2003 to July 2012 ---- 9 years !!!!!

where i came this country July 2002............................

Now prepare for Appeal documentation..............

August 2003 to July 2012 ---- 9 years !!!!!Hi Manish..sorry to hear that your ILR application has been turned down. Did you write a covering letter regarding your entry to the Uk in 2002 or do you any documents that suggest your residency between july 2002 &Aug 2003. I am sure that UKBA would reconsider your application if you contact the caseworker and provide these documents.
Information or Advice provided by me is general in nature and based on my own limited expertise hence shouldn't be used as a substitute for professional advice where necessary.

This news is hilarious!
"UK visa appointments 'sold for cash'"
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21463492

Some guys are making nice living by milking us off, but there's an obvious demand for this, and we all know how badly appointments are needed!

I booked my PEO appointment for 03.10.12 and couldn't use it as my son's visa was delayed. When I was hunting to get another one before 26.10.12, one solicitor offered me to buy it from him for £500 (yes just the appointment slot). May be the solicitors have a tie in with these guys to make easy money.

£500???
You should tell that to BBC, they'll love the story!
And I am guessing (not sure about you, but) some will pay as much as that. How sad....

All those who are waiting for a long time and their application has not been decided they can register their compalints on the email or address mentioned below:

UKBACustomerComplaints@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk

UKBA Complaints Allocation Hub
Lunar House
Wellesley Road
Croydon
CR9 2BY

It is better the applicant make his or her complaint first rather than getting the MP involved.

If home office is not responding to you then you can speak to your MP.

Note: This advice is not a subsitute to a professional advice, It is just based on personal experience and observations.

Hi there,

thank you for the info.
I am somehow for for not getting MP involved, though in some cases it is the only option...

Do you mind posting the UKBA web info page you saw this email address on, describing what sort of nature complaints we should file with this, or the explanation how they handle complaints? as I read once that their guideline for handling complaints is like 4 weeks?

Cheers!

I am sure UKBA will pipeline everything (MP letter, complaints, Freedom of Information requests,...etc) to BLACKHOLE.

Personally, I think it is useless to lodge a complaint about UKBA performance to UKBA. It is nonsense. Obviously, there is no guarantee of their objectivity during investigation. There must be an external agency or QUANGO who can investigate such case and help with future legal claim.

ILR Set (O) Postal application in August 2012

Post by eskayravi » Mon Feb 18, 2013 4:03 pm

Dear All,

I am sorry but long wait raises many questions in my mind and hope with others too.

I am sorry to ask about this question, are you aware of any rejection during this long wait for your friends, colleagues, relatives etc. Is it a normal process to keep it so long for everyone whether our application is successful or not?

Can any one reply on this? Thanks.

From what I could tell from the stories in here, waiting time length is no indication of rejection / approval. Some get rejection after waiting for over 6 months, some get it after 2 or 3, and the same goes for approval.
