Anyway I am cancelling my holiday plans next week so thats gone out of the window for now. Will continue to wait.
I'm exactly 6 months and 3 days now. What phone number did you use? I can never get through.

If you have any reason that you need to leave the country in next 12 months DON'T USE THE POSTAL METHOD!! And if you do postal, DON'T EXPECT IT BACK BEFORE 6 MONTHS, that's how long it takes for them to pile our applications.

There's no point in complaining without doing something yourself, so be proactive in campaign and petitions IF you can join in such things.

Fantastic news, Baxx. Many congratulations. Sorry for not sending this sooner..... I'm in Malaysia at the moment, and had problems getting internet access. I hope you have now received your BRP?

Hi

The number is 0870 606 7766. Its true that they have made all the possible efforts to ensure that you don't get through :). Their IVR menu never gives us the right option. I had to try many times myself to master the trick. Anyway you need to press 4 from the first set of options and then 2 on the second set of options. It will take atleast 13 minutes to get through and if you go over 15 I believe there is an automatic drop off point. But personally I believe 4P.M is the best time to call even though will have to wait 10 to 12 minutes you always seems to get through.

Best of luck.

Hi, I have been a silent reader for almost 6 months. ILR finally approved yesterday, could not be happier!

See timeline below:

Application type: SET(O) Work permit; with 1 Dependent
Applied via Solicitor

Application sent: 01/10/12
Payment taken: 08/10/12
Acknowledgement letter received: 16/10/12
Biometric letter received: 10/12/12
Date of biometrics enrollment: 11/12/12
Letter from UKBA Asking SOC Code & Updated Bank Statements: 22/02/13
Letter sent: 01/03/13
Date of Approval: 22/03/13

Now just awaiting documents, according to Solicitor should be with us next week!
Yay :D And thanks to this great forum!

Hi all
this forum has been very helpful so i would like to share my timeline
pleas bear with me because its quite lengthy

23 may 2012 - submitted my application (SET M)
4th June 2012 - acknowledgement letter received
25 July 2012 - Biometric letter received and i enrolled my biometrics same day
7 Aug 2012 - Biometrics letter sent again this time with a different reference number (i also enrolled my biometrics again again)
21 Aug 2012 - Biometric letter sent by UKBA for the third time with same Ref number with the last one but this time saying that they haven'T received my biometrics... dont know why so
24 Aug 2012 - ENROLLED MY biometrics FOR THE THIRD TIME

then the actual waiting game began...
initially i wasnt too worried until it became apparent from the timelines that i seem to be the only SET M applicant that had not got any reponse from the UKBA
Dec 2012 - i made a call and was told that my application was still in progress and all i could do was wait until i heard from them.
i then went on to request my husbands passport becase he needed it urgently but nothing came
i wanted so much to get a lawywer, or use the MP, or try somthing if i really thought it would make a difference but i didnt do anything but trust in God being a christian.

03 mar 2013 - my hub passport was delivered alone
16 mar 2012 - other documents received + approval letter
21 mar 2013 - BRP delivered (delivery man didnt even take any ID)

i am over the moon even though its been the most stressful 9-10 months of my life.
i have always believed that you cant be overly confident on documents sent or genuity of application when it comes to the ukba.
with them anything can happen and you have no choice than dance to their tune
the baby i had in June 2012 is almost walking thats how long i have waited yet am grateful to God that at the end of it all i got the approval because a friend of mine wasnt that lucky he was rejected for no just cause and had to go through court and appeal which he won

so please keep faith and thanks to everyone in this forum for me God perfected everything that concerned me.

@ant06

am not an expert but i just went through same process.
though approval was delayed i guess due to biometric enrollment but ukba didnt ask me for more documents and i got my approval etc

the documents i submitted were:

proof of financial capability: (separate names)
1 - bank statement (applicant and spouse)
2 - Payslips and P60

3 - Mortgage statement (proof of accomodation it had both our names on it) if you dont own your home then get your rental agreement contract

More proof of co-habitation:
4 - Medical cert (NHS card) and/or letters including GP letters (applicant and spouse)
5 - Voters Register letters
6 - Credit card and store cards statements
7- council Tax bills
8 - TV Licence

Other Bills provided:

British Gas Electric bills
British Gas, Gas bills

very important that all this documents are spread from the time you had your last leave to remain (2years) mine was spread from DEC 2009 - May 2012
ie gas bill dec 2009, gas bill 2010, gas bill statement 2011 and 2012

you need 6 documents each if its separate names
but 3 if the documents have both your names
but the safest bet is to provide as much as you have
so that they wont need to ask you for more
try also to arrange orderly and neatly

i hope this gives you an idea
all the best

Just over 6months and still waiting

Post by Nobbly » Sun Mar 24, 2013 9:10 pm

Congratulations to the lucky ones who got their responses so quick...doesn't make sense but what can we do...just wait and be hopeful.

I think the whole thing depends on luck and on what mood your case worker was on receipt of your application.... Clearly there are procedures however not all case workers are sticking to them, judging by some timelines mentioned

Anyways here is my timeline

applied for ILR on 19/09/12 based on 5yrs work permit although I have been here for 12yrs..
biometrics in November cant remember exact date
02/02/13 received a letter to submit September bank statement
04/02/13 BS sent and received following day (according to Royal Mail)
24/03/13 Still waiting

Getting frustrated I have to travel on the 5/4/13 and most importantly this could stop me from being able to do my job as some projects require to see a passport if you are a foreign national and I had informed them I will have it week commencing 25/3/13...a week after end of 6 months.

Does anyone know if a lawyer can get involved at this stage or there isn't much they can do either?

ILR Letter recieved from UKBA-

Post by burney1970 » Mon Mar 25, 2013 12:16 pm

Hi,

My wife has received a letter from the UKBA stating her Biometric Residence Permit will send to her by a courier in 7 days time.

Does that she is has been granted ILR, as she had applied under the marriage category/ spouse visa category.

Your comments shall be highly appreciated.

We got our response so much quicker than I expected! Was expecting to be waiting another month at the very least.

Type of application: SET (M)
Date application sent: 22/1/13
Fee debited: 29/1/13
Biometric enrolment letter received: 19/2/13
Biometric data enrolled: 19/2/13
Approval and documents returned: 25/3/13
BRP: Attempted delivery 26/3/13 - redelivery booked for 2/4/13, as we can't guarantee to be in the house until then (and the courier isn't working on Friday and Monday.) They won't let you go and collect from the depot - annoying!

Just under 9 weeks turnaround time.

So happy and relieved. Can't believe how quick it turned around after everything I'd read on here. Now we can finally look at flights to Australia to meet my newborn niece.

Set O ILR application

Post by Oztag » Tue Mar 26, 2013 8:20 pm

Long time lurker who has finally received ILR. This site has been helpful so here is my timeline.

Application type Set O
Date of application. 13 September 2012
Biometric letter. November 2012
Biometric enrolment. 16 November 2012
As I had heard nothing after 6 months, I wrote to UKBA on 19 March 2013 seeking a timeline for my application and asking that it be processed. It was suggested to me when I called to see what always happening that the only way to get any information was to write. I complained that they did not appear to be processing applications in date order and asked them to explain
Approval received. 25 March 2013
BPR received. 26 March 2013

I don't know if the letter made a difference, but their policy requires them to respond formally to complaints if they cannot be resolved in 2 days and I wonder if it was just easier to process the application.

So, just over 6 months and the sage is ended

Hi, Congrats! Mine is a similar timeline as yours. Could you please let me know where we should write to (address)? Is there a link providing guideline on the same? Who suggested to you to write? Thanks.

It was an operator on the UKBA enquiry line who said writing would be the only way to get any information. I did not find any guidance on this, but the UKBA complaints policy is available online and I had a look at that.

Nice. I sent mine off September 17 and like you I sent a letter to them on 20th March when I couldn't get through on the phone. The difference is that I sent my letter to the Croydon address which is supposed to be for Settlement visas. Still waiting for any response. I'll give the Liverpool address a go.
