Life In UK Test - BRP Surname Issue PLEASE HELP

Post by itskrish » Fri Nov 24, 2017 5:56 am

Hello,

I'm eligible for ILR from next month and planning to book by Life in UK Test.

My BRP Shows 'XXX YYY' as surname.

However during passport renewal last year (Apr, 2016) I split my name as
Given name 'XXX' and Surname 'YYY'.

To book life in UK test it asks for surname an given name. Can I provide Surname as 'YYY' and Given name as 'XXX'.

Will this be rejected as BRP still shows 'XXX YYY' as surname?

Also, will this be an issue while applying ILR?

Appreciate if someone can help me.

Have you reported the change of your name to UKVI ?? You must report these as changes of your circumstances to UKVI

Thanks for your reply Zimba88.

Till last week I wasn't aware that BRP first line is Surname as it's just same name. Also I was under impression that Change in Circumstances is only if we change name. In my case I didn't change the name; but only split it as given name XXX and surname YYY.

As I mentioned the change was done last year April. Will I get a fine if I change now? It says £1000 fine if not updated within 3 months.

:-(

If you have not changed it, you might get to explain this using a covering letter instead with your application

For Life in the UK test any details you enter on the website for Registration should exactly match the details on type of ID document you select. They will not let you take exam if there is any discrepancy. Better to select the document which shows correct current name.

Thanks Devin & Zimba88 for your advice.

Can I select my new Passport as my ID for Life in UK instead of BRP?

In the Life in UK Test form I have to answer following question.

'Do you have a valid Biometric Residence Permit you wish to bring to the test centre?'
Can I answer 'NO' for this question and apply for Life in UK test with new passport as ID?

You should be able to use your new passport to book the test as long as all the details are correct on your passport. Just ensure details on booking form match your passport.

You can select No for biometric card as you only need one valid photo ID.

ILR - From Tier 2 Previous Employer Absence

Post by itskrish » Fri Feb 02, 2018 6:39 am

Hello,

I have my appointment for ILR on 23-Feb. I was with company A from Jan 2013 to Nov 2015 and Company B from Nov 2015 to till now (Feb 2018). When I left company A I got an absence letter showing dates and reasons for each absence. However the letter was dated Nov, 2015 when I left my first company.
Does this matter if I write a covering letter saying I have the letter but it was given at the time of leaving the organisation (i.e Nov 2015)? or all letters need to be within 30day. If it need to be less than 30 days I have no chance getting it as all of my known ex-colleagues has left the company A.

Thanks
Itskrish

Hi,

Letters from previous employer do not need to be dated within 30days, only employer/absence letter from your current employer needs to be dated within 30days of the application.

ILR SET (O) section 6.1 date - Advice Please

Post by itskrish » Sun Feb 04, 2018 8:09 pm

Hi All,

I have my ILR appointment on 23-Feb. And following is my immigration history.

First Entry: Tier 4 Student on 25-Jan-2010 and left 27-Feb-2011
Second Entry: Tier 1 Post Study on 27-Apr-2011. Under this T1 PSW visa, I made following short visits to India.

01-Feb-12 to 06-Feb-12 (5 Days)
13-Apr-12 to 28-Apr-12 (15 Days)
15-Aug-12 to 17-Aug-12 (2 Days)

Then switched from Tier 1 PSW to Tier 2 General in 17-Jan-2013. As per my understanding, my eligibility for ILR settlement counts from this date.

I'm confused what I should put in following section of SET (O).

Section 6 - Immigration history

6.1 When did you (the main applicant) first enter the UK? This refers to the date you entered the UK at the beginning of the period of stay on which this application is based?

Can any of the moderators advice it should be for Section 6.1 which date I should use).

a.) 25-Jan-2010 (T4 Entry) or
b.) 27-Apr-2011 (T1 PSW Entry) or
c.) 17-Aug-12 (last Entry before switching to T2 G)?

Best Regards,

itskrish

For section 6.1, you should put the date when you first entered into Tier2 (Gen) category, which is 17-Jan-2013.

So can you please advice do I need to use this?

I was in UK when I switched the visa from T1 PSW to T2 G on 17-Jan-2013.

So 17-Jan-2013 not a UK entry date as I made in country application to switch visa.

The last entry before switching T2 G in-country application is 17-Aug-2012 while I was on T1G PSW.

Can anyone please let me know can I use 17-Aug-2012 for Section 6.1 Date?

Hi,

For Set (O) under Tier 2 General my understanding is that we don't have to fill in any info on pages 30 to 66 on latest version 01/2018. I.e entire section 9. Just want to cross check to make sure I have not missed anything before submitting tomorrow at premium service centre.

Hi All,

My (mine and 2 dependents) ILR got approved today at Solihull premium service. Thanks for all your help and advice.

Only one shock I got was £225 bill for early morning appointment against £75 quoted on email as they mentioned its £75 per applicant not appointment. But it was worth doing same day. I'll post my experience and documents submitted in Successful application Thread.

Thanks once again.

Congrats on getting ILR. Can you please mentioned which date you put in the 6.1 section ? The date you switched to Tier 2 visa or your first time Entry to UK as Student.

I am also confused about the entry date, could you please tell us what entry date you entered in 6.1 immigration history 17 January 2013 or early PSW entry date.
