National Identity Card in ILR Application

Post by lechat » Tue Oct 08, 2019 8:20 pm

Hi members,

I am applying for ILR after 5 years on Tier 2 visa.

One of the questions in application was asking about National Identity card or internal passport. I do have internal passport, so I frankly answered "Yes" and provided details. I read later in this forum that national ID is not required, but the application has already been submitted and I can't change it.

The question is:
Do I really need to scan my national identity (national passport), given I already provided its number in the application?

If you'd advise to upload it, do you think I should also translate it? My national internal passport is not in English and not even written in Latin letters.

Also, would I need to scan all pages of my national identity, similarly to normal passport? Those pages have no information about my travel whatsoever and only have details related to my life before moving to the UK like home addresses, marital status, military service eligibility etc., also written by non-Latin letters.

To be honest, I'd prefer not to scan and attach my national ID at all (given how much hassle it is), but I am worrying it might be inconsistent with my application.

You are overthinking. Even if you have provided the number you need not scan it as its not needed.
The number alone is fine.
