I attended Sopra Steria core service centre in-Birmingham on the 13th November and my appointment was 8.30am.

I went for SET (LR) super premium ( super priority) paying £3018 and also paid £100 for the appointment.

Below is what happened.

I arrived 5 minutes early and was welcomed by a staff member-nice reception! Apart from that reception, everything else was a mess!!

1. I got ID checked by one of the Sopra steria staff (looked at the QR code/reference number on the appointment confirmation and then checked my passport - photo ID) - This was the first step.

2. I was given a printed handout "How to do Biometric yourself" and a token number. I was asked to go to the kiosk for entering biometric.

3. The staff were saying that this is their first day and you are our first customer, anyway I tried scan the QR code on the machine however nothing was displayed on the screen and staff keeps on saying
'try again' despite my request to check if machine is turned on and ready! Few minutes later staff realised the display was not powered - any way I scanned QR code followed by passport and enter biometrics as per the instruction. Very straightforward and easy to follow instructions.

4. I did this and waited for document checks-less than five minutes waiting.

5. I was then called for document check. Again they asked my Appointment reference number and Passport. After that the Sopra Steria staff kept looking at the screen clearly confused what to do or how to do. I had uploaded most of the documents however they had to check passports and scan each page. This took almost 30-40 minutes to complete as car worker was not sure how to do it as he was dong it for the first time. It gets tricky scanning passport pages!!

6. After an hour, we were still on scanning and clicking stage-lots of mouse clicks and the case worker asked if you have done your biometric. He was not able to see biometric details completed so I had to do biometric again. As I went back after biometric another person- who seems like Manager was behind the case worker as he was struggling to progress through the process. They then said it looks like we need to do it all again - so the case worker started scanning all documents again -another 40 minutes.

7. Finally, this process was completed around 11am- then the case worker tried to submit the biometric and scanned documents following guidance from his manager - several minutes waiting and still processing. They asked me to wait in the waiting area.

8. I asked for a confirmation however the case worker unable to provide a confirmation that all scanning/checks completed, actually don't know if there is anything like a confirmation. There was a Home Office staff and I spoke to this staff about my experience.

9. 11.04am I received an email from Home Office confirming application received, however the email advised me that it may take upto six months for processing the application. I showed this to the Home Office staff to make sure they have submitted it as a super priority with 24 hour decision not as standard. The staff member checked it on the system and said this message is a standard message send by HOme Office and few other people have also received the same on the previous day.

10. I was told I will get the decision in 24 hrs from submission (round the clock). I was told I will be informed by an email and the UKVI case worker will contact in case if they need any further information. Also told me that it can be in the next hour as there was a person who submitted her application the previous day and received an outcome within an hour!!

11. Once all done, I left the centre. It took around 3 hrs for me

12. 24 hour gone today -no update from UKVI and I contacted the UKVI and Sopra Steria

13. UKVI said we are unable check anything.

14: Sopra Steria- Please contact UKVI.

15. Sopra Steria website account remains open and uploading function still open today. When I mentioned this during my phone conversation with Sopra Steria customer service, they wanted to check with a manger and after a while told me that there is an automatic cut off time 2200 hours.

16. 24 hours and next day( as Home office closes 5pm) passed -without any outcome.
Hi Jibs,
Have u got your decision?
I wanted to know how much in advance can you take an appt? My 28 days period is 12th Jan. as per the new process, can i apply online on 7th Jan & then within 5 days, as it says, take an appt on the 12th Jan? or do i have to submit the application on 12th only, not before that?
Hi Mrunal,

I have not received the response yet, no updates at all.

How much in advance: I received a confirmation from UKVI after submitting the online application with case ID. Therefore I am assuming date of online submission is considered as date of application.

Booking sopra steria appointment: this can only be done after submitting the online application. They have four core centres where they offer some free appointments and other service centres charges £60 to £260(premium lounge)

More service centres are due to open in the coming weeks so you will easily get find slots available for the same week or next week.

So correct me if I’m wrong jibs or anyone else. Considering they are opening all these sopra steria Service points…100’s throughout the country..Is it not true that the number if caseworkers are still the same as it was when there were only seven premium services office is open? They haven’t increased the number of caseworkers, so how in the world are they able to keep up with the high numbers of applications that are being submitted throughout the country from all of these SS service points??

That is probably why those who paid for the 24 hour decision option are not getting decisions within that time frame at all! The caseworkers still have to scroll through pages and pages of required documents, now digitized, instead of paper!

I am also in a situation where i submitted the application and done the payment on 10 th of november and was planning to take an appointment in December first week, which will be 28 days before the qualifying period. But now, everyone in this group are saying that, the date of online submission is application date and that should fall within 28 days of your qualifying period. But in my case the online submission date is november 10 and the 28 days before the 5 yr period starts on dec 2 nd. So i don't know what should I do. Can anyone help please? If i cancel the application, will i get a full refund ?

Hi i don't have a solicitor. I have done everything by myself. Moreover when i asked a solicitor, he told me that in the old Premium service center appointment, the application date will be the day when we go to premium center to do biometric and documents check and that should be within 28 days of your qualifying period. But no one is clear about the new system. I don't want to take a risk and go to the appointment , which will cost me £3018. So anyone have any idea about cancellation and refund ? Please

there are a few threads on here by people in a similar situation

indefinite-leave-to-remain/submitted-da ... 67084.html
I see it as if you book via the premium service appt before nov 29, it’s th day of your appointment as you have filled out paper form..nothing else. With the new system you are submitting your application online so therefore you have submitted and that is the day that they count and should be within your 28 qualifying period. As someone else mentioned, getting an appointment next day won’t be an issue

You are a bit mistaken. The online forms have been in place since January. The majority of applicants have applied and submitted online and booked their appointments up to 45 days in advance tat the premium centre.

NEW vs OLD CR001! Obviously anyone who is able to get a premium service appointment before the end of month can book this service via paper or online up to 45 days in advance. Now we are moving forward with NEW...meaning there is no longer premium service appointments available under the OLD system!!!

Hi,

I have been trying to go through the website. Apparently there are only 3 options at the moment:

- Premium service at 2999 which is the old system which seems not available anymore for people want slots after December (only slots people rescheduled that appears)
- Super premium service at 10500
- Normal service at 1000

Could someone please confirm the above understanding (especially premium service not available anymore). If there's a new premium service link somewhere please assist us with the link...

Where are you getting these options, on UKVI website or sopra sreria website after filling in your online application?

I didnt get what you mean by above.

Anyways if you haven't filled and completed your online application then you wont be able to book any appointment.
If you are still trying to do it under the old login (pre 1st Nov) then it wont work anymore.

Do you know whether the premium is still going on? If then I just need to create another account for premium booking then it will automatically be new premium? And is it still 3k?

You need to create a new login and you will need to fill an online application and after completing you will get an option to choose from old and new system and thereafter you will continue to the appointments.

Yes premium 24 hours decision is still available and fee is around £3000.

Just tried to create a new premium log in, still only show only 1 option as below:

You are creating a booking for a premium service appointment (Required)

Premium Service : pay 2999.00 GBP in total, most people get a decision on the same day

Feel exactly the same like the old service....

Are you getting an option to fill in the online application?

No I dont, It is very quick, just personal details and choose premium at 3k... do you have a link to the new one? I kept getting into this and it does feel like the old one for me...

It should be as usual link, I guess choose £2999 option and keep going forward and you will get an option to start an online application.
