I am a silent reader of this forum and I have a good news to share! I got my ILR approved yesterday at Croydon PEO/PSC. My experience was a great one, very smooth and no questions asked! Staff were very helpful and key is to hold the nerves and wear a smile where possible if not share a joke/ light words i.e. remain positive!

My back ground/ case details are as follows:

Type: Long residence (10 years), First entered UK 20.08.2005 (so an individual can apply at PEO 28 days before 10 years same as postal application)

Immigration History: Student, PSW, Tier 1 (General)

Documents submitted:
1. Form SET (LR) - Typed in PDF to make case worker's life easy and in return mine :D
2. 2 Passports
3. BRP
4. BSc Degree Certifiacte and associated letters from University
5. LIUK certificate
6. Spreadsheet showing passport stamps and yearly breakdown of absences from UK (well within allowed limits but to make case workers life easy)
7. Travel itineraries as some stamps on the passports were not clearly visible

I did NOT submit covering letter as my case was a straightforward and clean one.

Any questions, please ask and I will try to answer them. All the best to those yet to apply.

Cheers

First off, Congratulations for getting settlement visa!!

Secondly, I was bit worried whether or not you can apply 28 days prior to 10 years qualifying period. So in your case you also applied almost 15 days prior to qualify the 10 years period using premium service and got yours. So I can safely apply 28 days prior to 10 years qualifying period using premium service?

How you typed in PDF version of the application please ?

Thanks and congratulations again
Thanks you!

YES, how many more times are you going to ask this question. You can apply no sooner than 28 days before reaching the 10 years residence requirement!!! The 28 days rules is applicable to ALL visa categories for postal or in person appointments.

If you are that concerned that you are not getting the correct advice, wait until you are exactly on the 10 years residence date and then apply.

Hi H,

Congrats for getting the Visa!

Can I ask you two questions?
  • How much did you pay for the medical surcharge?
  • Did you leave the payment section on the SET (LR) form blank? Since there is only the standard £1500 option
  • What type of questions did they ask you, if at all?
Thank you very much in advance!

Tier 1 ILR success at PEO Solihull today 08-08-2015

Post by princepromise » Sat Aug 08, 2015 8:13 pm

Just returned from Birmingham right now and I'm happy to tell inform you all that I got my PEO application approved and ILR granted for myself, my wife and 4 children.

The information and advice I got from this great forum helped me and with God, I made it.

My family of six arrived at the PEO Office in Solihull by 9:30 though our appointment was by 11am, we were asked to hang around and come back by 10:30am.
10:30 am - we arrived
10:35 - we completed Airport style screening and took our seat and was given a number
10:37 - our number was called but due to the large family, I was only asked to go to the counter while my wife and 4 children waited
10:45 - I submitted my Set O form and all relevant support documents - they did not collect a photocopy of the SET O form as I was told it was not necessary.
11:00 - we were called to do our Biometrics
11:35 - Biometric verified, application under consideration- we were asked to go and wait for their call
13:13 I received a call asking for my lost passports which had my initial entry stamp and clarified that i submitted a police reference -
14:42 - i received another call that my document is ready for collection
14:55 - ILR granted, I confirmed the names for Biometric cards and all personal original documents including passports handed over to me
15:00 - I left with my family and returned to London

All the PEO Office in Solihull were very nice to us. and the whole process took approximately 4 and half hours maybe because of my large family of 6

I hope this helps other members in this forum

I am very thankful to this forum for the amazing support. I got my ILR approved yesterday at the Glasgow PSC(Premium Service Centre) previously known as PEO.

My experience was very smooth and I liked the new PSC. Apparently they've changed the rules recently and now allow you to take all your belongings inside including mobile phones, ipads etc. The waiting lounge was very good with comfy chairs and sofas with a big TV and a coffee machine as well.

The staff were very friendly and the case worker personally come to the waiting lounge and sat next to me to inform that everything was good and the application was approved.

Successful PEO Croydon ILR Tier 2 Migrant Aug 10th app

Post by splitbrainexperiment » Mon Aug 10, 2015 12:43 pm

Hi Gurus and everyone from this forum,

My application for ILR today has been approved.

Here's my story:

Came to this country with Tier 2 Migrant Visa on 3rd of Sep 2010. My visa was valid for 3 years. I transferred to another employer and was granted an extension for my leave to remain (still on Tier 2 Migrant) which expires in 2017. I applied today, 10th of August. The requirements that I submitted are listed in my previous post. I had 146 days absences outside the UK, 31 days of it are due to bereavement (death certificate of my brother attached). Also attached payslips to prove those remaining days are paid. HR of my current employer didn't specifically write the SOC code of my profession, however, they said in my certificate of employment that I work for them and am still needed in that job. They provided me with a fax copy as I requested for another COE previously in the last month to apply for a Schengen visa. I did, however write in my personal statement explaining why this is and if they wanted to speak with my employer, they could do so. So I think if you came here legally and you've not done anything against the law and fulfill the requirements, you will be fine. You just need to explain in your personal statements some points that you think need explanation.

So today, I came in at 9am for the 930 appointment. They let me in through airport-type security. Used the lift to go to the third floor; presented my application form, appointment confirmation (printout) and payment sheet (printout). They gave me a number and told to wait at the cafeteria. There's not much people yet because it's still early, I think. At around 930am, my number was called and I got into a cubicle. The lady was nonchalant about the whole, to be honest, asked for the application form, payment sheet and my supporting documents. (It's best to sort them out so it's easier for you to put it in the plastic envelope). I have written a personal statement detailing some things that need to be explained (I.e. long absence due to bereavement, etc.) I was called for biometric fingerprinting at 10 and then asked if I wanted to stay and wait for my application. I went out because I couldn't imagine myself sitting for an hour to an hour and a half waiting for something. There is a mall nearby so I did a lil bit of shopping and had lunch. I came back at 1110 and was called going through the security process. I thought it was a cold caller so I cancelled it. When I got to the third floor (this time the lifts were not in use, apparently only to be used by PWD's), I went to the cafeteria to look for my number. It said 'missed collection'. So I proceeded to the counter flashed on screen and waited for my documents. They said they will mail the BRP in 3 days.

So good luck to everyone!

To all those who have helped me, you're amazing. Keep it up. To be honest, I had more help here than the immigration assistance of my union. So I'm cancelling my subscription to them.

Cheers lads.

Hi All,

I've only posted once before, asking about certifying photographs, no need to. I was approved for ILR today, it has been a long loooong battle for me and my family, so I am relieved and thrilled to have finally got over this final milestone (I''m confident Citizenship will be straight forward).

My Immigration history is as follows:
  • Arrived 2001, no visa required upon entry - I'm South African (arrived with my two sons, now aged 21 and 14).
    Student Visa's x 3
HO then misplaced my passport for 2.5/3 years, I called, emailed, NOTHING!
Then out of the blue I received notice to leave the country with my passport, that's when I sought legal assistance.
Had to go to the sign in place every Friday (I think)
    Was then issued DLR 2008 - 2011.
Then my solicitor messed up.....I gave him my forms 4 weeks before HO deadline, he sent it 2 days before and neglected to sign the cheque for payment which I had paid into his business account. HO returned my passport a few days later rejecting my 2nd DLR.
By this time I was obviously now out of date!
I lost my job and was out of work for a long time.
He resubmitted my application, and instead of the 6 weeks I had to wait for 11 months 2 weeks to get a decision, luckily I was given my 2nd DLR, which then meant I had to wait an additional year for my ILR/Citizenship.
My DLR expires on 14.08.15, booked appointment for PEO Solihull 2 weeks ago, took LITUK test last week, luckily passed.
PEO - 10 August 2015
  • Our appointment was at 11am, arrived at 10.30 told to sit down, not issued with a number ticket as we were early. Whilst there I did overhear a couple being told that they should come back at 12h30 for their 13h00 appointment, they had arrived at 11h00.
We were called 30 min later
Was asked for forms, photocopies and originals, all in separate piles, I had tried to be helpful by sorting it all out in a logical sequence with tabs, was asked to take it all apart, remove stick on tabs and separate originals from photocopies.
21 Year old is still at Uni and is a dependant, had separate form and I photocopied everything for him as if he was a single applicant (He did have to fill out his own SET (O) form)
Provided original & copies of the following:
    LITHUK test
    Letter explaining my DLR gap
Documentation from ex Solicitor detailing gap and reasons why
Bank statements (for myself x 2 as I am a self employed contractor and 2 x for my son he has two accounts which he uses, I pay his uni fees and give him an allowance every month)
    Birth Certificates
    Passports
    Council Tax
    Mortgage
    Water
    Gas/Electricity
    Accountant
    HMRC - VAT Reg, etc.
    Companies House
    Payslips
Contracts for work past and present (I've only been in this current contract for 6 weeks)
    University results
    University receipts
    GCSE
School reports over last 3 years
Part Time job payslips/P60 for my son
P60 for myself (I actually didn't show an original, it was a printed version from my Accountant)
We then did our Biometrics, that was quick and easy.

At 12h06 we were told we could leave and to keep our phones on and they would call. We live 10 min away so we went home.

Received a call at 14h05 to say we can come collect our documents.
Arrived at 14h30, out by 14h45.

Everyone is extremely helpful, friendly and polite. It is neat and tidy and not too many people. All in all a very positive experience.

GOOD LUCK to everyone else.

Re: PEO successful same day application SET (LR) 10 year LR

Post by isferos2 » Wed Aug 12, 2015 1:08 am

Hi,

Today my ILR was approved. It was on the basis of long residence.

I went to Croydon PEO. The appointment was for 12pm. I arrived at 10:45am and was told to come back at 11:45am. There are 2 doors, the left one had a queue, the right one had not. For Premium service you want to go through the one on the right.

I returned at 11:40am, and was allowed in. I went through airport style security, then was told to take the stairs to the 3rd floor.

Once I have reached the 3rd floor I went to the reception. The staff asked to see the application form and passports. He checked it, made sure there was a payment receipt (I paid when I booked the appointment, I booked the appointment on 6/7/2015 by the way), and gave me a token with a number on it and told me there were only a few people before me (on the first stage!). I was then told to go to the coffee/waiting area and wait for my number to be called.

Sorry to disappoint any of you who are Starbucks fans, its a Costa. :P

First stage - Case registration (Wait time ~5 minutes, processing time ~5 minutes)
When my number was called, I went to the counter I was called to. The staff there asked for the application form, photos, all passports for the application, and BRP if any. He confirmed my address with me and asked if I would like the new BRP to be posted there if the application was approved. He then presented me with a clear plastic sleeve to place supporting documents into. For me, my supporting document pile was thicker than an A4 brick of paper, so he simply rubber banded everything together into a bundle. He handed me the bundle and asked me to wait need the counter to be called for the second stage (Biometric Verification).

Second stage - Biometric Verification (Wait time ~5 minutes, processing time ~5 minutes)
For this stage you wait need the counters. When my number was called, I proceeded to the second counter. This set of counters are in a section behind a glass door. The counter has a fingerprint scanner and a wallmounted camera. At this stage you give your biometric information and handover your application + supporting documents.

Third Stage - Awaiting Consideration (Wait time ~ 2hrs 20 min)
At this stage you wait in the waiting area. The waiting area has screens everywhere showing the numbers in different stages.

Fourth Stage - Under consideration (Wait time ~ 1hr)
At this stage you wait in the waiting area and hope that you don't get called. If you do, I guess you will have to submit additional documents/explain discrepancies. Luckily I didn't get called, but I have seen numbers being called and documents returned at this stage.

Fifth Stage - Ready for collection (Wait time ~ 1hr)
At this stage you wait in the waiting area for your number to be called. I guess when you number enters this stage the decision would have been made but more general processing, e.g. printing approval letter, still needed to happen. When my number was called, I went to the counter and was given the decision and all my documents back. There is a piece of paper for you to sign to confirm that the info they are going to use for the new BRP is correct.

When I was there, there were people with lawyers and there were lawyers with people. At the beginning I was wondering why some people were so smartly dressed, then I realised that they were lawyers.

Anyway, to my application:

I included:
-A cover letter stating my permit history, and what documents are included. It also explains why I had a permit rejected before (missing docs) and that it was granted when I reapplied 1 week later.
-A SET(LR) form, filled in.
-2 x identical photographs
-Life in the UK Test Pass Notification Letter
-Degree Certification (from a UK university, for English Language requirement)
-2 x passports
-1 x Tier 2 General BRP
-Photocopies of all passport pages that are not empty.
-Photocopies of BRP, back and front.
-Photocopy of Life in the UK Test Pass Notification Letter
-Photocopy of Degree Certification

Additional documents (these may not all be necessary and depends on your circumstances):
-All 200 pages of bank statements covering the 10 years period (with a few lost pages)
-Letter from school stating I was a full time boarding student for year 1.
-Letter from university stating that I was doing my degree full time there for years 2,3,4
-Bills for each term at uni
-Contract for my first job
-all payslips, P60s and P45 of my first job covering years 5-8.5
-Contract for my second job
-all payslips and P60s of my second job covering years 8.5-10
-National Insurance card to match my payslips with my name (the morons at payroll used my informal English name on the payslips -and the moron that is me failed to correct them).

Total days away in the last 10 years was a few days less than 540. I have included a list of absences with exit dates, return dates, full days count, on which passport which page, and reason for absence. I put the sheet of paper with the list right before section D in the form.

Question 3.2 was answered as "I wish to settle in the UK on grounds of long residence to continue life in the UK", as suggested by Amber in another thread:
Amber wrote:You wish to settle in the UK on grounds of long residence to continue life in the UK. I think that would suffice.
I hope it helps.

Hi all I have received my ILR last week at Croydon. Thank you for all your help and useful information shared on this website.

Here is my experience and I hope it will help someone in the future.

1. Tier 2 (had two different employers)
2. Number of dependents - 0
3. Total cost - £1,900
4. PEO branch - Croydon

Date first entered UK: 01.08.2010

5. Documents provided:

Passport + copy
Biometric Residence Permit + copy
Police Registration Certificate + copy

Life in the UK Test Certificate + copy
CEFR Level B1 Speaking & Listening Certificate (Trinity College) + copy

Last month payslip + copy
Last 12 months bank statements (with marked transactions of monthly rent) + copy

Last 5 year P60s + copy

Last 4 year payslips from current employer + copy
Old letters from previous employer + 6 payslips (dated 2011 only) + copy
Absences from the UK spreadsheet
Absences Letter from Current Employer + copy
Email from Previous Employer (request to confirm 10 days of annual leave)

Letter from Current Employer (SOC Code, Current Salary, etc) + copy

6. Absences more than 180 days in any of the qualifying years - no

7. Any Additional Comments.

Basically my case was not as straightforward as it seems from the list of documents. Also I found it very confusing what documents from my previous/first employer I have to show. My first employer was very dodgy and I didn't have any original payslips from them. Therefore it was a big challenge to prove that I have been working in the UK since August 2010 and my absences in 2010 were paid leave. My P60 from my first year contained ridiculously small annual salary and I guess my employer didn't pay enough taxes for me. However I have submitted all 5 P60s as I decided that it was not my fault as an employee that the company didn't pay the right amount of taxes. When I was changing my employer, that first employer provided me with payslips printed on the letter-headed paper with stamp confirming that this were my payslips. Unfortunately there were only 6 payslips instead of 12 but for the new Tier2 application that was enough at the time. Thankfully there was also a letter from that first employer (dated 2011) and confirming that I was employed since August 2010. I called and emailed that employer asking to confirm dates of my employment and annual leaves and they responded to me saying that the Owners have changed and they don't have any records of old employees. I called Home Office and explained to them that the employer can't confirm paid leaves and they replied that they will then judge by the payslips. I was very worried because I didn't have payslips for the months of my travels. However it was just a 10 days absence so I thought it should not be a major concern. Which wasn't. So for everyone who is lacking the documents from their previous employments - here's some good news for you! All you need is to show that you did everything possible to get necessary documents (emails, etc). If you have any old letters/emails - bring them! Any little proof helps.

I also went on a trip between employments and marked that trip as unpaid leave. Usually you shouldn't have any unpaid leaves because they are not linked with purpose of your visa (Tier 2) but as it was between employments and just 2 weeks of holidays to Ibiza I guess they were fine with that.

Last tip: make sure all the documents from your current employer are perfect. This is what they scrupulously look into.

Good luck to everyone xx

Hi guys

Just wanted to share my experience.

Yesterday i got my ILR in 2 hours at Croydon PEO even though i had a gap in my continuous residence.

Before my application, i wrote a letter to Home Office enquiring if the continuous residence has been broken and received a positive reply after 5 months. I enclosed copies of these letters with my application.

Please feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Please also see the below extract from the letter.

Matter: Clarification of a gap in the Continuous Residence - Application for Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK on the Basis of 10 Years Long Residence

I write in connection with the above mentioned matter with a view to seek clarification on a gap in my continuous residence.

I was granted an Entry Clearance as a student valid from September 2005 until 31 October 2008. I made an in-country PSW – Leave to Remain application before 31 October 2008. The application was returned by the UKBA as invalid on 18 November 2008 because erroneously, I omitted to sign the application form. The application fee was also refunded by the UKBA. Instead of submitting a PSW application again, Mayfair Solicitor submitted a student visa application on my behalf on 01 December 2008 (within 28 days of receiving the notification of invalidity). Following this a Student Leave to Remain was granted on 14 February 2009.

It would be highly appreciated if you can kindly confirm that the period from expiry of the Entry Clearance until the day on which the Home Office notification of invalid application was served (from 31 October 2008 to 18 November 2008) will be covered by section 3C of the Immigration Act 1971 (as amended).

Please further confirm that the gap from 18th November to 01 December 2008 will be disregarded for the purposes of Indefinite Leave to Remain application on the basis of 10 Years Long Residence as the this period will be covered by the 28 days rule.

I would be obliged if you can kindly clarify the situation and confirm as to whether or not the Continuous Residence has been broken.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi All,

I received ILR at Croydon PEO last Saturday, 15th. Thanks for all your support. The whole duration was about 3 hrs from appointment time (the actual case consideration was only about 45 minutes). I wouldn't say the experience was smooth as there were a lot of 'computer issues' and we had to give biometrics twice as a result. My general advise is to get an appointment early as possible. The crowd starts to build up from about 10am...the cafe was not open on the day BTW ...they didnt keep copies of P60,marriage certificate or son's birth certificate, so i guess they didn't consider them. I kept the document set simple but mentioned on the cover letter that on request i have additional documents that can be submitted. Happy to answer any specific questions from applicant who will be applying in the near future (i was on T1, 2 dependents, applied 7 days before the 5 year anniversary, full time salaried employment throughout, used my 2006 IELTS as it had been accepted by HO in 2008). Again, thank you very much for all who have answered my questions in the past few months !!!!

Tier 1 (General) ILR - Experience

Post by svarghese » Sat Aug 22, 2015 7:44 am

Dear friends,

Yesterday I got my ILR and thought to share my experience here so that if anyone out there is preparing for the same can benefit.

I work as a contractor and have a Ltd company.
Doc's I submitted at Croydon office -
1. Application form covering main applicant & dependent
2. Life in the UK & English Language letters (covering both parties) along with their photocopies
3. Outside UK in 5 years
3.a. self attested letter detailing the date, reason and number of days out
3.b. photocopies of passport showing the exit/ entry seals
4. Working Experience
4.a. letter from the accountant
4.b. payslip
4.c. dividend voucher
4.d. photocopies
4.e. personal bank statement
4.f. self attested letter showing the amount (sal & div) and the page number where they can find the transaction
5. Cohabitation Doc
5.a. Joint bank account statements (e.g. Aug 14, Nov 14, April 15, July 15)
5.b. Joint health insurance paper
5.c. Letter from the Electoral Registrar

The case worker called me and asked to me submit my ltd company bank statement for my claiming period which I then handed over. Hence, would say to include:
6. Ltd company bank statement (they want to see the HMRC tax payment)
7. Ltd company current or previous year's accounts.

And in another 30 minutes, they called my number and asked to collect the passport. Phew!!! ILR granted.

Hope this info helps you.

Kind Regards,
S.

Hi There, This is just an update about my experience of application for 10 years long residency. I have 7years student,2years psw, 1 year tier 2 general.
I am sharing this coz I couldnt find this info when i was looking for guidance.
No gaps, no breach of rules, straightforward.
I applied in person today(totally worth it), booked appointment last week. All i submitted was, SET(lR) for, together with,
1. all passports
2. biometric
3. 2 photos
4. Life in uk test certificate
5. My msc certificate as a proof of english & Transcrips
6. Current qualification ACCA results & exam docket (was not needed)
7. most current bank statement (not needed)

Went to croydon, checked in,all document submitted at 9.20 am, biometric taken straight after, and got my documents together with visa by 10.30am i would say go early and have appointment in the morning if possible as it is less busy and you tend to get your turn earlier than appointment is booked.

Staff is brilliant at croydon homeoffice.. very nice.

I would suggest not to submit anything extra unless there is gap or any tricky part you need to cover. The more documents which was not asked, the longer it will take. If you never had broken any rules or overstayed, i would advise to just submit the basic documents, and fill in the form correctly. Very straighforward and very easy, the most smooth application I did in 10years of immigration history..

Wish you all a very best of luck.

Successful ILR application at Croydon PEO

Post by immi.grant » Fri Sep 04, 2015 6:58 pm

Hi all,

I recently applied for ILR at Croydon PEO and was successful. Here is the rundown.

Number of applicants:

3 (1 main and 2 dependents)

Situation:

I was the main applicant and I entered UK in Oct 2010 with my wife. My child was born outside UK and joined me in early 2014. I worked outside UK for about 120 days and it was sponsored by my employer. Apart from that, my days outside UK were very less.

Documents:

Filled application form
Payslips * 12
Bank statements * 12
P60s of 5 years
Employment letter
Days outside UK letter from employer
Degree certificates of me and my wife
Printout from PBS calculator of proof that degree was taught in English
Life in the UK test pass letter for me and my wife
Passports of everyone
BRPs of me and my wife
Proof of cohabitation: Council tax statements, joint utility bills spanning 3 years
Marriage certificate
Birth certificate
Photographs
Proof of payment

Procedure on the day:

Appointment was at 8:00 AM. We turned up at 7:45 AM. We were let in and went through airport style security. I stood in the queue while my dependents waited at the adjoining cafe. I got a ticket number and was called immediately to register the case. I went to the counter and the lady entered all my details and told me the next stage was biometric. By the time I could get my dependents from the cafe, my ticket number was called for biometrics. We went to the counter, where we gave biometric details. We were asked to wait until we were called. We went back to the cafe and I started looking at the information boards. The status of my ticket was in biometric verification for about 30 minutes. After that it changed to waiting for consideration. It stayed there for a brief period of time and changed to under consideration. It stayed there for about 30 minutes. After that I was asked to go to a counter to collect my documents. I went to the counter to find our ILR had been approved and I had to sign a couple of documents. We were given a letter stating out ILR application has been approved and the cards will arrive in 7 days. The whole process took about 1.5 hours.

After 4 days we got our BRPs. It was a pleasant experience with sufficient information given at right stages. The staff are helpful and pleasant to interact. There is a play areas for children to play and some toys are available to keep them occupied.

All the best to future applicants.

Dear gopal_yendluri,

Thanks for your detailed post. It was wonderful, simple and I have used it.

I haven't used any covering letter, just used your list of documents as it appears very clean.
(just made a small modification, as I used tables instead of list to reduce the pages. I have attached the modified cover doc hereby. Hope the attachments work. )

****REQUEST****
I have one Empty SET(O)-08/15 form with me, if any one needed I can post it to you free of charge, as I don't want to throw away.

****MY STORY****

(1) Got my HSMP on may-2008. And applied for entry clearance and received the Tier-1 (General) on November 2008.

(2) First entry 13 Sep 2010

(3) First Extension Nov 2011

(4) Second Ext Nov 2013

(5) ILR 3rd Sep 2015 (yeah applied bit early using the 28 days grace period)

(6) The list of documents I submited are as attached and

****MY PEO EXPERIENCE****

Booked 8 AM appointment
Reached Sheffield office on 7:40 AM
After sec.check staff collected my docs and gave my Biometric around 8:15 AM
I gave the whole docs + photo copy in a big hard file. The staff took the entire file
The staff asked me how recent the photo was. Mine was very recent.
I have seen people were sent to take a photo if the photo is older than 28 days.
There is photo booth kept in the venue.
I was told it would take 1 hour to process the docs.
(if possible, keep your photo copy it would speed up your process, i believe)
Around 9:20 I was called and said it's approved and
Asked to verify the Biometric card particulars and sign.
Left the building by 9:30

***QUESTION***
Now, waiting for Biometric.
Any idea how long would it take ? I plan to travel India as early as possible.

****NOTES****
Some of the minor thing that I didn't do

1. I have taken the print out as single sided. ( I hope double sided is good enough )

***ATTACHMENT***
(not sure how would it be valid)
pdf format

doc format

I've been a silent reader on this forum and reading through the experiences helped me get my ILR last Friday, so I'd like to do my bit and contribute to the society :)

Visa type: Tier 2 General (mine was a work sponsored visa)
Duration: Arrived in UK on Aug 23rd, 2010
Appointment location: Premium Service, Croydon

Process:
Arrived 20mins before the 9am appointment
Went through airport style security and headed to 3rd floor for registration
Step 1 is case registration where they ask you for your appointment confirmation page, application form and passport. Can't remember, but they probably ask for your BRP card as well.
They will give you a case registration token number along with a paper that will explain the entire process and expected time for each step

Step 2: Go sit in the cafeteria and wait for your token number to be called (I had to wait for about 15-20 mins). Went to a desk where the case officer asked for my passport, BRP card, application form. He gave me a transparent envelope and asked to include everything I think is relevant to my application. The case officer didn't really care what supporting material I included in the envelope. He just updated their computer with some details and took away all the paperwork. I did not include anything more than what's required as per the form. A lot of people talk about taking P60s, bank statements for 12 or 60 months, payslips for 12 or 60 months etc. You don't need any of that!
I had a letter from my company that confirmed my employment date, salary, employment code, time-off, etc. I think that pretty much covered everything they needed.

Step 3: Went for biometric straight after step 2 and got my fingerprints and pictures taken. Pretty straightforward.

Step 4: Went back to the cafeteria and was told that they will contact on my phone or call my token number if they need any further information. Waited for about an hour and then was called again. The case officer informed that my application was approved and asked me to confirm my name, birth date, citizenship details. Again, fairly straightforward

Step 5: Call home to share the good news :)

Good luck!
