Hi

My Tier 1 General ILR PEO appointment is next week and I am bit worried about the Salary which I have withdrawn . I am a contractor and I work thru my Limited company and I am planning show my income for the period (Feb 2016 - Jan -2017.)

In the Year 2016 Jan , Feb and March - I have withdrawn Gross Salary Instead of Net salary - I have noticed and transferred total NI amount back to my business account . Rest all other month I did only Net salary to my account .

Will case worker will be okey with it or will be have any objection ?
Could any please help and clarify will this be a problem ?. Any solution ?

Thanks
Anand

I was on Tier 1 HS Entrepreneur visa for almost 2.5 years and applied for ILR which was granted within one hour into appointment time.No business documents either submitted with application or asked to be shown by case worker.

Business documents I took with me includes 3x months business bank statements, SA 302 & confirmation of statement but never included in the application.

Keep your application simple and don't put additional burden of documents in it.Only show it if being asked.

When my case registered straight away I have been called for Biometrics.Biometric took only 2 minutes with 1 question do I have any amendments on my passport.
There was case worker passing her behind. She passed my file to him.She asked me to wait in cafeteria for 60-90 minutes. My case was straightforward.Good thing Home Office provided Multi Prayer Room I offered 2 prayers over there.MY number called at window 44 for collection at 15:15 with good news.

Hi there ...
I am looking forward to apply my SET LR (10 YRS) but I've got some questions to be asked...
My first entry to the UK was the Jan 2007 everything looks good with no break so far 2012 I got happily married to an EEA national (Polish). she's been working since 2012 till now I've got all the evidence that during this time she was exercising treaty rights. Got her past 4 years (till 2016) employment history from HMRC. but from August 2016 till now she is self-employed, will it count as treaty rights?

PEO booked fro 1st March 2017 as Birmingham (Solihull)

Documents:
I've got with me is our Marriage certificate
HMRC's Employment history letter showing (all her tax paid from 2012 till 2016)
her payslips, P60, P45
HMRC UTR number for self-employment as she started self-employment from Aug 2016
Council tax bills from 2015/16 2016/17
Tenancy agreement (Deposit scheme)

Is there anything missing do let me know please, so far how does it look!!

Dear all,

Thanks to the grace of God, I got my ILR approved yesterday.

1. Category: Tier 2 General
2. Number of dependents: None
3. Tot. cost: £2375
4. PEO branch: Cardiff
5. Documents provided:
SET(O) Form
Appointment & Payment printout
Passport : 1
BRP cards: 1
Photographs: 2 (Only one photo was taken)
Payslip : 1 (Latest)
Bank Statement : 3 months
Life in the UK test
Last 5 years P60
UK Masters Degree Certificate for English language requirement
Employer letter for SOC code and foreseeable future
Employer letter for Absences
Employer letter for authenticating payslip
Cover letter
6. Absences more than 180 days in any of the qualifying years: No
7. Any Additional Comments: Don't provide anything more than necessary.

Appointment:

Booking : 9:10 AM
Entry : 8:55 AM
Document checked : 9 AM
Biometrics : 9:45 AM (First Attempt)
Biometrics : 11:40 AM (Second Attempt)
Decision : 12:00 PM

Additional Notes:

Entry: I arrived early (8 30 AM) but was asked to come back at 9 AM. There is a good coffee shop in the building next door.

Documents Submission: The lady at the reception gave my token number, checked the form version, asked whether I have any additional passports or known by any other names, took out the payment details page from the application form and handed it back to me. The receptionist also said that the caseworker would come and talk to me if any additional documents or information is required.

Biometrics: There were issues with Biometrics IT system. The staff informed us that the biometrics were not being passed onto the case workers and that they will still continue to process the applications but could not issue decision letters until the biometrics could be verified. Once my biometrics went through, I got the decision in 20 mins. I was quite worried that my application would be deferred but thank God, that did not happen.

Documents: I had taken a load of additional documents with me. I had written a cover letter stating that I would be happy to oblige if they require anything additional.

PEO: The staff were really nice, polite and courteous, making small talk whenever possible to make you feel comfortable. They also kept us well informed during the biometric IT delays. I saw a case worker coming and talking to another applicant asking a few questions and asking additional documents.

The PEO was clean and tidy. Waiting area is a bit small with seating for around 20 people. Phones and laptops are allowed to be used inside (No Wifi). There is drinking water, a vending machine offering crisps, chocolate bars and drinks (surprisingly cheap), however the coffee machine was broken.

I would still be sticking around in the forum and would try to help you guys as much as my knowledge and experience would permit.

This is not a general question/discussion thread for members who are still going to apply. It is for those that have been successful. Please continue your queries in your own topic (if you have one) or start one. The guidance is clear on what the requirements are.

Hi Everyone,

My ILR application was on 11th Feb 2017 at Sheffield and have been granted successfully. As mentioned within the application form I submitted following documents:

1. Category: ILR - 10 Years route Application form (switching from Tier 1 Entrepreneur)
2. 2 Passport size photos taken in last 6 months however, lady at counter no. 3 would try to push you to have new photos taken if they were not done in last 30 days but I managed to convinced her as those pictures were within the 6 months threshold.
3. Current and 2X previous passports.
4: Premium Service appointment confirmation
5: Current Biometric Residence Permit Card
6: Life in the UK Test report
AND
7: Original Degree Certificate from the UK

I DID NOT Submit any other document because app form does not require you to do so as long as all of the previous passports can confirm your stay in UK and you have not stayed outside the UK for more than 540 days in last 10 year or not been absent from the UK for a period of more than 180 days at any one time.

You can always keep additional documents as they can come handy but are not required and I would recommend not to give them unless case worker asks you.

I had appointment at 8:20 am and I was there at 7.50 am (in fact i was the 1st candidate in there) and was out of the building with approval letter at 11:25 am.

I did not write any cover letter as it is not required. The staff such as security guys and receptionist all were very calm, friendly/helpful and smiling all of the time. The environment was relaxed with some nice soothing songs in the background.

Thank you again for all of your input throughout.

Hi Guys, I have been a silent visitor to this website for years now and I have taken a number of tips about my Tier 2 General Visa, its extension and finally about ILR. Today my ILR was granted. BRP is on its way. Here is my experience:

1. Category: Tier 2 General
2. Number of dependents: 1
3. Tot. cost: £4750
4. PEO branch: Liverpool
5. Documents provided:
SET(O) Form
Appointment & Payment printout
Passport : 3 (Applicant 1 Old+1 New + 1 Dependant)
BRP cards: 1+1
Photographs: 2+2
Payslip : 1 (Latest)
Bank Statement : 3 months
Life in the UK test: 1+1
UK Masters Degree Certificate for English language requirement (For Applicant)
UKNARIC Letter For Indian University (For Dependant)
Employer letter for SOC code and foreseeable future
Employer letter for Absences
Cohabitation Documents: I had 100's of them but gave them 5 letters that my wife received over the last 2 years, mainly from NHS, Pension Provider, Bank etc.
Absences more than 180 days in any of the qualifying years: No
Number of Trips Outside UK in the last 5 years: 14 times (ranging from 1 day to 25 days including business and personal)
Any Additional Comments: Don't provide anything more than necessary.
Experience: The experience was straight forward. I arrived at 10:30 am for a 11:00 am appointment. The usual stuff happened and I was out by 1:00 pm. Not much to report about the general experience although I would like to inform about somethings:

1. I went to the PEO with my wife and daughter (UK born and 20 months old), although I applied ILR only for myself and my wife. Whilst I was waiting for my Biometric the caseworker called me and asked me why I was not applying ILR for my daughter. My response was 'I don't have to. That is why'. He said, 'fair enough we HAVE to ask that question'. After coming back from the appointment I did some research and found that these PEOs have revenue targets and therefore they want as many applications as possible. So my advise, if they ask you about a child's application, be straightforward and don't panic.

2. Having read many forums there are people who have suggested that if there is a job change in the 5 years or if you are applying earlier (within 28 days before you are eligible) there is a chance it will be deferred. Well in my case both were true. I worked for a subsidiary of a parent company and was moved to another last year. Also I applied 27 days earlier. No questions were asked about this.

3. I remember reading something ages ago where an OP had asked if they were a Trustee and a Director at a Charity, would that have any effect on the application. I would like to advise that I have been a Trustee and Company Director at a charity. My information can be found on company house as well. I had a letter from the charity saying that I was a Trustee and a Company Director. The letter also included that it was a voluntary position and I was not paid any form remuneration for this role. I carried this letter with me but did not provide it to them as a part of the supporting documents. No questions were asked about this either.

4. Finally, something that came to me as a surprise and I thought I should inform people here so they are prepared. Although I was on Tier 2 General (which is the most straight forward of them all), they interviewed me. They verified my details, and started the interview. More on that later.

To give you a bit of context, my salary was almost twice the recommended amount on Code of Practice, when I applied for Tier 2 extension in Nov-2014. Before that I had received 2 pay rises in the space of 2 years for 6k each. There was general visit by UKBA in Mar-2014 where they enquired, why I was paid so high. The HR manager explained the reasons. Although, the visitor did not create a fuss, he did advise that if you give pay rises of more than 10% a year you should inform the Home Office via SMS. Since then my employer decided that they would not give me any substantial pay rises, to which I agreed. So in the last 2.5 years I received only one pay rise of 4k. On top of that I get substantial performance bonus, car allowance, private heath insurance and other bits and bobs.

Now coming back to the interview. It was quite straightforward and I gave simple and honest answers. The first question that he asked me was 'Your employer mentioned x salary in the COS of Tier 2 extension in Nov-14. Now you are paid x+4k. Why is that?'. Please note that at all times the employer has kept the UKVI informed and yet they wanted to know. So my answer was 'I negotiated'. He then followed it up with 'Has your role changed at all since then'. I replied saying, 'No it has not. Although back in the day we serviced 3000 customers, now we service 4500 which is attributed to the growth in the company. But day to day activities are still the same'. Next he enquired, 'Does it say on your contract that you can negotiate?'. My reply, 'No it does not. Every year we have a performance review where you can have a candid conversion with the boss. You can talk about things that are going well, things that are not. Things you are happy about and things you would like to change. You talk about process improvements, any training course you would like to attend any new idea that you have that you would like to pitch. You also have the opportunity to discuss your salary. My theory is if you don't ask you don't get.' He laughed and followed up with, 'Do all employees have the option to negotiate their salary.' My response, 'The performance review is like open season, we have created a culture where every one works hard with the aim of discussing their achievements during that time. In fact, everyone looks forward to it'. He then said, 'Ok, I have typed your responses, I am going to print it, can you sign it for me'. He then brought a print out. I found several spelling mistakes which I highlighted and corrected. He then took it to a lady who I assume was a Senior Caseworker and had a 5 minute chat. I overheard him saying the words, 'car allowance' and 'i think it is ok'. He then came back to me and said all is well and the application is successful. You'd have to wait for another 15 minutes and the lady at the original desk would give you your documents back. 15 minutes later I had the docs and letter from them.

What surprised me was that they were enquiring about a relatively small pay rise. Strange. But thought I should let you guys know as I have never heard about someone on Tier 2 being interviewed about salary like this.

Hope this helps. Thanks

Re: Successful PEO DLR AFTER 6years

Post by Juls » Fri Feb 24, 2017 9:18 pm

My ILR was granted yesterday after years of suffering and paying for lots of different renewals. I thank God.
My experience at Croydon was fantastic and thanks to this website and for the people that posted their experiences was very helpful therefore, I feel like I need to add mine.
Appointment was at 8 am
Checked in at 7:45
Number given at 7:50
Case registration at 7:55 (1st one)
Bio at 8:15 which took 3minutes
Awaiting consideration at 8:23
Under consideration at 8:35
I received phone call at 8:40 by the case worker to ask for any documents with my children's name with the case address as mine ( don't know why) I gave their bank statements and go letters.
At 9:40 I was called to collect my documents and I ran out as quick as I could.
Good luck to everyone and if you need any advice pls let me know

Successful Tier 1 General to ILR on 05th April 2017.

Initial Tier 1 visa granted Sep 2010 and had moved out of UK for more than a year's time. Re-entered UK in May 2012.

1. Category: Tier 1 General
2. Number of dependents: 0
3. Tot. cost: £2375
4. PEO branch: Croydon
5. Documents provided:

SET(O) Form
Appointment Checklist printout
Passport : 2 (Applicant 1 Old + 1 New )
BRP cards: 1
Photographs: 2
Payslip : 12 (Last 12 Months)
Bank Statement : 12 (Last 12 Months)
SA 203 forms: 4 (Last 4 years)
P60 : 4 (Last 4 years)
NI History : 1 (Last 4 years)
Life in the UK test: 1
B1 SELT Trinity college Test Certificate : 1
Current Employer Reference letter for Absences: 1
Previous Employer letter for Absences : 4-5
Details of Absences excel sheet (not mandatory) : 1
Photo copies of all documents above

The experience was fairly straight forward and included a wait time of 3-3.30 hrs. I arrived at 11:00 am for a 11:30 am appointment and was allowed in straight away. The expected process took place and had submitted biomterics and application by 12.30 pm. Then the boring wait started which ended around 3.45 pm at which point I was informed that my application has been approved

I did have 2 year's as Company director in the 5 year continous period however I was not asked any questions on the same or given any questionnare to fill. I went prepared with various documents to establish that earning's from my business refelcted correctly in my SA forms, however I was never asked for any information on those lines. Infact, at no point anyone verified my documents in front of me as the processing of documents happened in the background.

My recommendation for people going in for future PEO appointments:
-Organize your documents well and keep them as simple/specific as possible
-Bring along a good book to read while you wait for application to be processed

Hope this is of help and best of luck :-)

It has been long wait for this day. My initial Tier 1 application was made in 2008 and was valid from Oct 2008. But i entered quite late and had to go through multiple extensions (thrice!).
My first entry to UK on T1-g was in Sep 2011 to attend interviews and apply for extension using ALL overseas earnings. This entry for just 5 days and next one was 3 days - again for interview purpose. Eventually entered the country in May 2012 with a a view to settle
Given the history of rejections of many self employed applicants, honestly i was quite nervous. But i have never had any amendments for past earnings. My earnings ( salary + dividends) in all 4 years preceding the application has been fairly high too.
It was long wait which i had expected. I had not submitted my original degree certificate this time. Hence got a call from the caseworker to check if i have that with me to which I said yes. She wanted to look at it before approving. She took a photocopy of the degree before handing me the approval letter.

A minor hiccup though- we completely forgot to carry the dependant degree certificate with us and hence her application is on hold. I was under the impression that original degree is not required as NARIC assessment certificate was submitted for both applicants. Now we have posted the degree to Croydon PSC. So hopefully it shouldn't take too long to approve hers.

all my documents were returned and BRP should arrive in a week. Looks they did look at CT600 and previous accounts. So do carry them if you are in a similar situation

All in all , a great immigration journey and a very satisfying result. This site has been very helpful in various stages of it. THANK YOU ALL.

feel free to ask for more info especially around documents for ltd company directors/ contractors
