Given the recent surge in cases, potentially there will be stricter rules implemented today if not a national lockdown. Calls for national measures to be implemented today. Best to keep an eye on the news. The restrictions may impact the UKVCAS appointment bookings also. I would urge anyone applying in Sep onwards to submit biometrics via IDV app (if eligible) to avoid potential lockdowns/delays.
Probably a stupid question. If I submit via the app to be safe in case of lockdown, would I be then able to book an in person appointment (in case there is no lockdown and appoint is usually quicker). Or is it only for specific people/ after a certain period of time when you don't hear back you can then book appointment? Thank you

It is quite likely that next date cutoff is 21 Sep - given they ambitiously gave this date 21 Sep.
It is actually very hard to predict. But, looking at recent very low availability of appointments (I can hardly see any appointments in any london area - only paid appointments for next week at Mark Lane), I think next update will be close to 30th Sep now. Most likely, they will have a date cut off till the date new update will come or earlier.

If you're eligible to use the app, you usually can book available appointments.

If you are eligible for IDV app: You will be able to book an appointment even after using the IDV app. Choice is yours if you want to go for dual submission but its not recommended. I do not see any advantage of dual submission for applicants Sep onwards.

Just to check and may benefit others.
Can anyone who has used IDV app ONLY check the booking system and post the appointment availability?
As of my system, the appointment availability has almost gone to zero other than a few highly paid appointments available.

Hi,

Has anyone submitted application on or after 12/09/2020, received any email invite to book appointment?

Submitted my application on 12/09/2020
Uploaded docs on UKVCAS site on 14/09/2020.

No emails received yet.

If UKVCAS received your application on or after 12 September 2020, please continue to check this page for updates. We will refresh this page over the next few days to let you know when you can book a UKVCAS appointment or use the IDV app.

Thanks. Yea the appointment availability has gone almost zero and only very highly paid appointments available at premium lounges. This shows that applicants Sep onwards should definitely consider using IDV app (ones who are eligible).

Thanks CULLINAN .
I have seen this update.

Sopra Steria's update is confusing at best.

Last week, on one of their updates they had stated, applicants who have submitted their applications on or after 12/09/2020, would be able to book biometrc appointments straightaway on 21/09/2020, irrespective of whether they receive any email or not.
And UKVCAS said the same on Twitter (DM) too.

However, today when I had asked whether to look out for the service status message or whether the applicants will be notified by email - they replied "you will be notified by email".
The service status they have posted today contains virtually nothing for applicants who have submitted on or after 12/09/2020.

Guess waiting is the only option.

@awesomeagni

Due to surge in cases, UKVCAS has delayed going back to normal operations. You will have to wait now.

Just attend the appointment.
Yeah that's what I was thinking as well. Given the details are "sent to UKVI within 24 hours" after the app submission, and that my appointment is within the next 24 hours, I don't want to cause any unintended glitches on their systems.
When I received the invitation for IDV and appointment, I did not think twice and went straight for appointment without using IDV which I regret. Now and based on a feeling only, I just think that submitting via IDV and then going to in-person appointment is better than submitting just from appointment. I might be wrong but it's just an intuition.
I can relate. I also booked an in-person appointment as soon as the system opened up for me which was on Thursday night. I was tempted to also submit using the IDV app on Friday but decided against it. As there have been quite a few service updates I am unsure whether double submission might now cause issues especially if both methods are used so close together.

Also, it seems majority of applicants who had super quick responses after double submission were the ones who had used the IDV app much earlier than their in-person appointment. Perhaps in the intermediate time their applications had already been checked and were only pending identification approval (as someone also has already suggested).

I think taking even that minimal risk of the system glitching with our applications is probably not worth it since there is little time lapse between our green light to use the app and in person appointment.

Here’s to hoping we all get quick positive responses!
Thank you @ CULLINAN, @Ameline, @User5 and @Royal_desire for all your suggestions. I decided just to skip the IDV app and go straight for my appointment only, today. Now the waiting game begins! Fingers crossed, and hope everyone gets speedy decisions! :)

HI Guys, I have seen on timeline form, people saying uploaded documents to UKVI.
How to upload documents to UKVI?

Just curious to know incase I have missed anything.

As per my understanding, once we upload the documents to UKVCAS then we need to wait for appointment or use IDV then document submitted to UKVI. Correct me if i am wrong?

I have got email to use app or book appointment. I have booked appointment for Wednesday. Can I use both app and appointment?
You can submit documents to UKVI via “document upload” page even before biometrics.

Stick with appointment only.
Upload all your documents first. Sign out and sign in again. You should view a “submit” button at the end of the document upload page on UKVCAS.
I submitted my application on 17th Sept as well as uploaded my documents and submitted them to UKVCAS on the same day. However, now when I log into my UKVCAS, account, the status for all my documents is 'uploaded' instead of submitted, which doesn't seem right? I cannot see the Submit button regardless of how many times I log in and out. Could someone please advice?

Check the file names. Open each category and see does it say “submitted” in front of the file names??

Ah! If I click on each category, then in front of individual file names, I can see the 'submitted' status. But on the category itself, it just says 'Uploaded X files' (X being the number of files). Is this okay? Thank you so much!
