Hi there,

I booked an appointment, but i just received the decision from home office, should i cancel it?

Used only idv app
Congratulations. Yes cancel it.

Thank you.
idv submission: 30th of august
Good luck to everyone

This shows that booking an appointment does not affect the process of IDV. Biometrics submitted via appointment overtakes IDV app ONLY when you actually attend the appointment.

Hi, apologies if I missed this somewhere - this is a basic question but one I can't find an answer to.

I just submitted my online application for ILR Set (O), and made the fee payment online. As a mandatory task at the end of this process, I am asked to book a UKVAS appointment.

I am confused because from this thread and the one that discusses ILR timelines, it appears that applicants can be selected for biometrics reuse, and can submit documents online. My questions are:

1) do I need to book an in-person UKVAS appointment now, and only after that I may be invited for biometrics reuse and online document submission?
2) many people seem to waive biometrics reuse and still submit it in person - why? (what's wrong with reuse? does it delay an application?)
3) If I want to avoid an in-person appointment, do I just wait for email communications or do I still book the UKVAS appointment now because it's a 'mandatory task' and the application would not be complete/would not progress without that?

Would be most grateful for advice! Thank you

Consider dual submission if possible for you. It may work for you.
Thanks Cullinan. I booked an appointment for the 2nd of October after following your advice on dual submissions. I tried to book as late as possible in case decisions pour in soon, but have little hope on that after seeing the low number of SET-M decisions.
Also, my case is a little complicated so I am not sure if I would get a fast decision. I haven't received those generic "your case is complicated" email, maybe it is not as complicated as I thought :D

@apemonkey

You have to book an appointment now. Biometrics reuse is the past now.
Anyone applying 24/9 onwards will have to book an appointment.

Thanks - does this also mean that online document submission is in the past too, and I need original paper copies for everything (say, bank statement that I could previously download and submit as a pdf will now need to be requested on paper from bank)...?

No. Everything else remains the same. The best approach is to upload all documents and submit to UKVI via UKVCAS even before biometrics (up to 48 hours before otherwise it will not work).
Carry only originals to appointment. They will not check but just to be on the safe side if a scan needs to be redone. No soft copies needed. Passport and appointment QR code mandatory only for appointment.

And - sorry to be a pain - do you know if 48 hours only include working days, or any 48 hours? There is an appointment on Tuesday next week available, but it's less that 2 working days

Hello,

Finally i have got a decision.

Applied April 5, used IDV app for biometrics Aug 22, No decision so i booked in-person appointment Sept 16 in Birmingham free slot, No decision still. I called HO and they said i should wait till 5th Oct to escalate, then it will be 6 months.

Someone on page 273 on this forum said he paid £5.95 on UKVI website for enquiry and they sent him his approval.
I said well, £5 will not hurt my pocket so i tried. Mind you, if you say you did your application in the UK the website will direct you to UKVI phone number, but if you click the option that your application was done outside UK then you will be able to submit your enquiry.

I did this yesterday afternoon at 2pm and in the explanation box, i stated i applied inside the UK and my application is almost 6 months.

This morning at about 8am i got my approval letter.

Mind you, this route may not work for new applicants, my application is almost 6 months and it is very straight forward. For anyone that applied in April you may try this enquiry system, its just £5.95.
Also, dual submission may not even work for those who applied in April regarding quick decisions, just my experience.

Now, moving on to Naturalisation as i was a set M applicant. Cant wait to get off this HO/Immigration application bus..

Goodluck to those still waiting. This forum is filled with loads of info. Thanks to everyone for posting their experiences.
Oh nice. Please can you share the website asking for a friend.

For all
  • March to July applicants
  • any Visa type
  • who did only single facial image submission through IDV App
  • still pending decision
Have you written to your local MP ?

If yes, has there been any acknowledgement or response ?
If no, what is your thought process for not writing ?
I am a May 28 SET (M) Applicant did IDV and biometric in person appointment in August still waiting on a decision.
I have not written to my MP and will only do so After 28/11/2020 if no decision has been made as this will be past their 6 months processing time. I like to respect the rules of engagement and if you then break your side of the bargain then will then begin to make noises and more (In a nut shell I am given them ample time to make their decision based on their agreed service standard).
if you complain before 6 months.. they send you a generic email, saying you will have to wait until 6 months passed.
but then again, if you complain after 6 months passed.. they will send you a generic email saying because of the pandemic they cant process your application within 6 months..

you can't win, against UKVI. becuase they are just fond of sending generic/standard emails.

Hi Guys, I received a email today morning that ILR is successful.
Application type: Set O- Tier 1- Ent
Date applied: 30-03-2020
IDV submission : 03-09-2020
in person biometric: 15-09-2020 did dual submission
Approval received: 26-09-2020.

Not sure dual submission worked or not, I will update after receiving the Biometric card!

Thankyou so much for the helpful members and moderators in this board.

I suppose you have to cancel the appointment you have booked and then book the available one.

You would have to cancel first to see available appointments. However, they may be farther away or you may be lucky to get an earlier one. All the best!

Hi

I tried to search the post relate to ‘right to work’ in this thread, but this has been so popular over last weeks.

I checked the right to work page today, my old BRP shows ‘The details entered don’t match our record’. Is this means I will receive a decision shortly? Will I hear anything within days? Or weeks?

Thanks

Is your current BRP expired? Not necessarily. Many have reported the same. Sometimes system shows error even if current BRP is valid. Maybe a technical fault.

Did you use "I have a biometric residence card or permit" to enter the system? If you used "I have a UK Visas and Immigration account" option, it always shows no match.

I don’t think it mean anything. I would not deduce any clues about progress of my application.
In the new layout if I select the option

I have a UK Visas and Immigration account, it says there are no records.
If I select the option , I have a biometric residence card or permit, it shows Biometric residence permit expired.
When I check my dependent BRP , it shows the actual validity ( Still valid ).
Some users have reported the validity changing to indefinite after grant of ILR.
