Do I need to mention UK visits separately or no need as they might already have record ?
Not required, it is irrelevant to your ilr qualifying period.

Hi Respected Gurus, Moderators,

I have some questions if you can please answer:

1) When asked if you have other names. I changed my surname post marriage (10 years ago) so I answered Yes and gave my old surname. In my last application for T2G, I gave the same as previous name. However, when I renewed earlier for this question I answered No for any other name. Will there be an issue (hope not as I gave other name in my last application and no issues happened) ?

2) In the question: What is the ownership status of your home (I own it, Rent it, Live with Family, Other) ?
I have mortgage on this property along with my spouse. Shall I still answer as "I Own it" or "Other" and write it is with mortgage from X bank ?

3) My first T2G has vignette on 6 Oct 15 and BRP date on 8 Oct 15 with Entry on 17 Oct 15.
Do I have to mention 8 - 17 as absence from UK (time between BRP date and Entry)?

4) The absence dates that we have to mention should be in line with the flight tickets or passport stamps ? For example, when we go to Australia, flight ticket will show 1 Jan 20 from London arrival 2 Jan 20 in Sydney. But Australia stamp will only show 2 Jan 20 in passport.

5) Have you previously lived in a country outside the UK including your country of birth?
In answer to this, do I need to mention my previous stay in UK on visitor visa or Tier 2 ICT dependent visa in the past?

Apologies for many questions & Thanks a lot for your time & patience.

Thank you

1. Add a covering letter pointing out this mistake
2. Own
3. No
4. Passport stamps
5. No harm in mentioning

3) Yes
4) Its the entry and exit date from UK what matters. The exit date from UK is 1st Jan 2020 regardless you reached on 2nd Jan 2020 due to time difference etc. You should mention 1st Jan 2020.
Note: The entry and exit date is NOT counted in the number of absences but you MUST mention the entry and exit date from UK.
5) The question asks for “outside UK” only. You should mention your home country from DOB till you lived there and any other country (other than UK), you lived NOT visited. Lived means for work, study etc.

Sorry as I got conflicting answers, want to clarify:
1) Even though in my last T2G application as I mentioned my pre-marriage name-surname, I should still clarify in a cover letter for not doing it the time before ?

4) If I use flight ticket dates as date of leaving UK then there will be slight mismatch of 1 day with several stamps on passport. Other people should face this situation as well, what is correct ?

5) Prior to living in UK on T2G, I listed several countries where I went on holidays so not for work or studies. So shall I remove them all ? For work or study, I only lived either in my home country or UK , nowhere else.

Thanks a lot.

1) No need
4) Let me explain you with an example. You exit UK on 20th Jan and arrived in Pakistan on the 21st Jan. You came back to UK on 24th Jan. Pakistani passport is stamped on 21st Jan on arrival. Stamp date difference is very common due to time zone/transit times.

You must list absence as 20th Jan - 24th Jan. The correct absence counted will be 3 days EXCLUDING the entry and exit date.

If you list 21st Jan - 24th Jan, that will not be correct and your absence counted will be 2 days in error, excluding entry/exit date.

You do NOT have to work out from stamp date. Stamp date could be 1-2 days later also in certain transit/time zone cases. The ENTRY and EXIT date to/from UK matters.

HO make checks with their own records. You dont have to worry about that.

5) Not sure what is unclear. Question asks countries “LIVED” in NOT visited, OUTSIDE UK only. So it will be your home country and any country you lived in only. Simple.

5) Yes remove them all if you did not live there. Only mention your home country from DOB till date you lived there.
Question does not ask about living in UK. Only outside UK.

If you are still not satisfied wait for some one else to respond to your query.

I will still add a covering letter/use additional info section (if available) to admit & clarify this mistake for being coverage in all scenarios especially at ILR stage where all present & priorly supplied information is rigorously checked.

Thanks a lot Seagull & Cullinan,

I will add a cover letter saying previously when I made the application I/my solicitor put answer for any other name as No incorrectly. While renewing my Tier 2 General visa on last occasion, I correctly put my pre-marriage name and doing the same for my ILR application.

Ques --> do I need to give name change affidavit (won't be from UK as it was done 10 years ago from my home country) ?

Confirmation --> will use the dates as per the tickets as advised and explained well

Confirmation --> will remove all the holidays that I mentioned in lived outside UK as I didnt work or study there. That only leaves my home country.

Thanks a lot again !

Additional information - where to put?

Post by Cristina88 » Sun Aug 30, 2020 5:07 pm

Hi Respected Gurus, Moderator,
Human Angels CR001, Zimba,

1) As was suggested, for clarity on name change, I will put it on the Additional information. But I couldn't find any section where I can put additional information in the end. Can you advice where can I put it ?
FYI, just to remind,
- I am putting my old name in ILR application
- I put my old name in last T2G application when I changed sponsor
- My solicitor didnt put my old name in T2G application when I renewed T2G
- In my first T2G application there was no question on old name
--> I never travelled to UK with old name and name change happened 5 years before my current ILR period.

2) This is what I plan to write, please check if this looks fine?
Name change due to marriage in 2010: I want to inform you that I changed my name after my marriage on XX XXX XXXX. I confirm that I have never travelled to the UK on my old name.  My name before marriage was "XXXX" and my name after marriage, which is my current name is "YYYY".I have informed this in my current application for ILR and in the past applications to the best of my knowledge.

Thanks a lot again, and again

Also, there was a post explaining step by step what happens once we pay and submit the application in current scenario (upload docs, app, biometrics etc). It was by a mod/senior member and was very very useful. I am not able to find it. Can someone please point me to that please I want to understand the process after payment.

Thanks a lot !!!!

Address simply to Home Office.

Biometrics are opening up in phases. Follow the UKVCAS flash message and the biometrics topic in the ILR sub forum for updates.

Re: Tier 2 General to ILR application

Post by CULLINAN » Thu Sep 03, 2020 9:10 am

I thought to share as this post may help new applicants joining the forum or applicants from August and onwards. Also it may answer some frequently asked questions.

Steps to follow after completing the form online:

Step 1: Pay and submit application via UKVI.

Tip: Date of application is the date you pay and submit online, biometrics date is irrelevant.

Step 2: After payment, you will reach “further actions page.” If you click on “book an appointment,” system will reroute you to create an account on UKVCAS where you can upload your documents and book an appointment.

Tip: You are sent an access code to set up an account on UKVCAS which usually lands up in Junk folder.

Booking an appointment is opening up in phases. Check the UKVCAS flash message for updates.

https://www.ukvcas.co.uk/flash-message- ... geId=74833

Step 3: Booking an appointment/IDV app

Next step will be communicated to you via email; either you will be chosen to attend the biometrics appointment OR UKVI will reuse your biometrics from a previous application.

If you fall under the latter group, you will have to wait for IDV app to launch to provide your facial image (which is expected to launch in August).

Tip: You are given a deadline to submit your biometrics on the further actions page. Ignore that, you will not be penalised even if you can not fulfil it.

Step 4: Now you can submit your documents to UKVI via UKVCAS portal even before your biometrics. The option usually appears when you have uploaded all your documents, sign out and sign in again. The option can be found on the “document upload page” right at the bottom.

Note: You can only submit once, so make sure your documents are complete before you submit.
You will be able to add more documents via your appointment/IDV app on a later stage whatever your circumstance be.

Tip: The best approach would be to benefit from the new feature.

Note: For certain categories/cases, the CW may request for the documents to be submitted via email. It does not matter if you already have submitted via UKVCAS portal, you can still submit documents via email if requested.

Step 5: Once the process as stated above is completed, you should wait for a decision.

Tip: Be vigilant and regularly check your email as all communication for next steps will be sent via email.

English Language Requirement

Post by Cristina88 » Sat Sep 05, 2020 5:13 pm

Hi Gurus, Moderators and senior members helping us all the time

I have a question and getting bit worried :
Back in 2015, when I first applied my T2G

PLEASE SELECT UNDER WHICH CATEGORY OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT YOU ARE CLAIMING POINTS FOR
I answered: DEGREE TAUGHT IN ENGLISH
because at that time we didn't require NARIC as my university was included in the list.

However, for ILR application, I got Trinity CEFR B1 certificate, hence I have to answer like this:
Do you have a degree that was taught in English? No
Have you passed an approved English language test? Yes
Did the test assess your speaking and listening skills at a level equivalent to CEFR B1 or higher? Yes

Will this cause any discrepancy ? What can I do to avoid any issue ? :? :(

Thanks a lot

Hi Gurus,

I got stamp on my bank statement and just then noticed that on the Bank statement my name comes as
"C Marsh" whereas in application/passport my name is "Christina Marsh". Will this cause any issue ?

Also, while getting employer letter if they mention holiday dates - how should this be mentioned:
I left UK on Sat, 7 Dec and came back on Sun, 15 Dec. I have mentioned this in my absence from UK as it is.
However, in employer letter they mention holidays from Mon, 9 Dec to Fri, 13 Dec i.e. only working days. Will that be fine ?

Thanks a lot

Employer letter question

Post by Cristina88 » Sat Sep 12, 2020 1:17 pm

Hi Gurus, Mods, Senior members,

I received employer letter and have some questions as it didnt look perfect. The letter reads:

“We further confirm that Mrs Marsh’s position with us is permanent and this employment will continue for another two years from 31st Dec 2020.

The following are dates detailing her approved absence from the UK and also specifying reason of absence. Please note that she is paid full time salary during the below mentioned period.”

Q1: The letter reads “employment will continue for another 2 years from 31 Dec 2020” , is it fine? Or we ask them to be changed to “foreseeable future” if that is better ?

Q2: In the letter they ONLY mentioned the leave in which I went out of UK. They didn’t mention 1 to 3 days leaves in which I was in UK only. Is that fine? Or they should mention ALL the leaves including when I was in UK ?

Thanks a lot

Thanks a lot for quick response, and for the absence letter. Do they have to list only absences from UK or all individual days when I took day off but was in UK only? At the moment, they have only mentioned holiday in which I went out of UK.

Re: Tier 2 General to ILR application

Post by Cristina88 » Sat Sep 19, 2020 4:37 pm

Respected Gurus, Senior members,

I am in final stage of submitting application and have couple of questions mainly on checklist:
1) There are 2 docs in checklist: 1 - Current BRP 2 - Evidence of immigration status. I have only BRP. But do I have to tick for Evidence of immigration status as well ? If I dont tick it doesnt let me proceed. Does it mean I have to upload BRP twice?

2) On checklist it asks for: All previous passports that you have used to travel to or remain in the UK. In my case, there is no previous ppt I ever used to travel to UK. But as part of checklist do I have to still tick it and upload nothing for this ?

3) Is there any number of hours of work requirement for ILR? In my COS the salary that is mentioned is above SOC code 2135 requirement but number of hours is 37.5. Is that ok?

Thanks a lot

1) BRP satisfies both requirements. Tick both.

2) Yes

You have to tick ALL to proceed.
